Chapter 407: +Chapter 407+

Angelo didn’t drink but his tolerance was decent, his hair coming undone as he rode the elevator to his hotel room.

He felt warmed from the alcohol, the warmth staving off the chill in his bare hotel room.

Angelo took down his hair and got on his bed with all of his clothes on, his shoes kept neatly beside his bed.

He sat up with his arms around his knees, his head resting against them. Black hair obscured his vision, his thoughts a little sluggish from the wine.

He was going to take a dangerous job any moment from now but Angelo didn’t feel the faintest hint of worry. He had been in constant danger in entire life, and he knew he could die at any time.

There was no use thinking about it, if he died, then he would be spared the torment of living.

Angelo sat through the night, until the haze of alcohol faded, and the hotel quietened down. He wouldn’t be able to sleep even if he tried and he didn’t want to, he would rather not have more nightmares.

He thought about sneaking into his boss’ office to take a nap but it was probably better that Silvia didn’t see him again. She had already done so much for him, he felt guilt at the pain in her eyes whenever she saw him now.

Angelo was well accustomed to staying up through the night, it didn’t even feel like several hours to him, the sun rising to herald a new day.

Only when it got bright enough to peek through the curtains did he get up from his curled up position, his joints cracking.

He went through the motions of stretches and exercises before heading to the bathroom to clean up. In a hoodie and fresh pants, he sat at his desk with a cup of coffee that was delivered by the hotel service.

There was nothing to do, it was strange to be this idle. Usually, he would have gone down to the company by now, there was always a new job that his boss had for him but he had resigned.

Not used to being so idle, Angelo pulled out his laptop and went over the floor plan again, paying close attention to each of the security posts. He still hadn’t figured out how he would get in but if they paid close enough attention, an opportunity would pop up.

His phone rang a short while later, Silvia’s raspy voice speaking into the phone.

"Are you hungover?" He immediately asked. His partly empty cup of coffee had gone cold a while ago, the delicate white ceramic abandoned on his desk.

"That’s not your business," She said shortly, audibly in a bad mood. "I’ve got some useful info, come down to the company."

Angelo was on his feet before the call dropped, already dressed. He closed his laptop and slipped out of the hotel room, blending easily into the background in his outfit.

He got to the company in no time, bumping into an ex-colleague on the way. They all tended to go out of their way to avoid each other, so the towering Alpha barely spared him a glance, striding past him.

Angelo went on to Silvia’s office, and the boss looked worse than she had sounded on the phone. He no longer worked for her but the title of ’boss’ stuck deeply to him, he couldn’t see her any other way, besides, it wasn’t like he planned to get a new job.

Silvia’s eyes were red-rimmed, her hair wild. She had a cup of steaming coffee on her desk that was still untouched.

"You don’t look great," He said quietly, a hint of concern in his mild green eyes.

He had never seen Silvia like this, so disordered. She hadn’t been that drunk when they parted ways at Mafia King Asher’s club, so what had happened after that?

"Shut it," Silvia shut him down, her voice not holding any heat. She would have preferred to email this to Angelo because she would rather that he didn’t see her in this state but this was too important.

Despite how grumpy she was and the fact that she kept wincing with every word she spoke, Silvia still remembered to order some breakfast for Angelo. It was late in the morning and she only felt worse as the day went on.

"Nikolai is expecting a delivery today," Silvia only spoke after Angelo was done eating.

Angelo went on high alert at that, it must have taken painstaking work for Silvia to find that out but he didn’t point it out.

"What you have to do is simple, you’ll intercept the delivery and take it to Nikolai yourself." Silvia’s tone was serious as she spoke, she even seemed to completely forget about her migraine.

Angelo listened, he hadn’t expected a chance to present itself so soon. This was a one in a hundred chance, he couldn’t lose it.

"Listen to me." Silvia leaned forward, a hint of desperation in her voice. "As soon as Nikolai opens the door, you make your move. Kill him in one shot, kick his body in, close the door and then get the fuck back to the delivery vehicle and get out."

Angelo nodded stiffly, he knew that Silvia didn’t want to hear otherwise so he said nothing more.

Silvia sighed but it wasn’t one of relief, it was a helpless sound. "I’ve compiled the necessary information and I’ll send copies to you. You can stay here till you leave if you like."

Angelo finally spoke, "I’ll return to my hotel, I need to prepare."

Silvia didn’t try to stop him, her expression controlled as she watched him rise to his feet. "Right."

"Thanks again, boss." He said lightly, lifting a hand in goodbye as he headed for the door.

Silvia watched the door close with glossed over eyes, biting down on her bottom lip until she tasted tangy metal.

She didn’t get up to go after Angelo like she wanted to. This was why she didn’t do relationships of any kind, they hurt.

Angelo got right to work when he got back to his hotel room. He knew what establishment was doing the delivery but there were a variety of routes that might be taken.

Silvia had added that she would have someone place a tracker on the vehicle which would make it easier to intercept.

Angelo had so much gratitude for his boss, and even though she refused pay despite this being an independent job, he had no use money anymore.

Silvia would probably come down to his hotel room when he was gone. He would mail his room card to her and hand everything he had over to her. She deserved it, after all, she gave them to him.

The delivery was in the evening so he had ample time to prepare. Angelo had no idea if as a delivery person he was going to be frisked by the security.

It wasn’t like he planned to take a gun - they were too loud and conspicuous. He preferred small cutting weapons anyways, the easier to hide the better.

The day went by quickly, he didn’t remember to eat, staying hunched over his laptop the entire time.

An hour before the time, he rose to his feet, taking a shower before getting dressed.

He wouldn’t be able to wear the hoodies he favored so he did his hair in a braid and wrapped it into a tight knot, he planned to stuff it all under the delivery hat he would change onto.

He had already made all the necessary arrangements prior to this, leaving his hotel room earlier so that he would get the chance to mail his room card to Silvia.

The tracking device was accessible through his phone, before the delivery even left the store, he had already gotten into a cab to camp out at the most likely route that would be taken. And if they took a different route, he would have more than enough time to catch up.

Angelo had made preparations for every route, he had to be meticulous in his planning. Every possible route had to be accounted for, plus the point of interception had to be secluded so he didn’t attract attention.

He had worn a hoodie out of the hotel, the hood pulled down. it would be ditched as soon as he replaced the delivery.

He needed to move quickly, taking the deliveryman out and changing his outfit shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. He would rather not delay the delivery and arouse suspicion.

Angelo’s meticulous planning didn’t even get to be used because the delivery vehicle used the route he predicted. He had more than enough time to survey the area and lie in wait.

There was a turn down a quiet street the car had to go through, most of the houses there were residential areas so there were few people on the street.

The sun had long gone down by the time the van pulled up, Angelo wasted no time in jumping in front of the van. It was a juvenile way of getting the deliveryman to stop but it worked and it threw the driver in for a loop.
