Lake was stunned by Caspian’s suggestion, his friend knew all about the heiress stalking him. "What for?"

Caspian’s smile grew, "For the drama, wouldn’t it be fun?"

The blond Omega’s smile was contagious, Lake honestly couldn’t care either way. Bella had started to keep her distance this past week, it would probably be better to leave things as is.

"Considering that she has a reputation for going after Mafia Kings, she might not even show up." Caspian pushed.

"I really don’t care if you invite her or not- Cas, come buy me lunch, I’m starving." He changed the conversation, slyly leaving the decision-making to his friend.

And it worked like a charm, because Caspian was too occupied with asking him what he wanted to eat to remember the conversation they were just having.

Caspian chose a cozy cafe close to the event center, eagerly making suggestions from the menu while soft conversations buzzed around them.

By the time they returned to the venue of the engagement party, Caspian had completely forgotten about Bella.

At sundown, Davian had driven over to pick him up, just like the Alpha had done that morning.

Lake sighed heavily as he sat in the passenger seat and strapped in, while it was fun hanging out with Caspian the entire day, it had also been a busy time, so he was rightfully drained.

"What did you do all day?" He asked curiously, glancing at the Alpha.

"Checked emails, went to the gym, took a nap, and started on dinner early." Davian listed off, his eyes the same hues as the dark clouds rolling in.

Lake smiled despite Davian’s sullen expression, "Sounds like a really productive day..."

"Are you going to leave me for an entire day again?" Davian was quick to complain, his disapproval evident on his face.

"Caspian’s engagement party is next week, and we’ll be busy all week."

"So that’s a no," Davian concluded for him.

Lake’s smile didn’t fade, it was getting darker much faster now, the air getting colder as the first drops of rain started to fall.

It pattered against the windshield and the roof of the car, and it made Lake want to take off his seat belt and climb into Davian’s arms.

"I’ll be spending all day with you tomorrow," Lake said to pacify the Alpha seated across from him, he had to raise his voice a bit to be heard over the rain.

Davian pulled into the mansion then, and when Lake didn’t get a response, he turned to find Davian’s face mere inches from his.

"Do I get to choose what we do all day?"

Lake had a difficult time focusing on Davian’s words, fighting a losing battle to keep his eyes from straying down the Alpha’s face.

"What do you want to do?" He bit the bait.

It was raining anyway, it wasn’t like he was in a hurry to step out of the dry and warm comfort of the car.

He undid the buckle of his seat belt so he would have an easier time looking at Davian, an expectant look on his face.

"Stay in bed all day." Davian said without a moment’s hesitation, the Alpha clearly already had this all planned out.

Lake didn’t work on Sundays but he got away with reading and responding to emails and reports, as well as a video conference or two.

"Fine." He agreed, sitting back to look out his side of the window. "The rain is coming down harder, do you want to make a dash for it?"

"Wait there," Davian said instead, opening his door and quickly slipping out.

Lake stared at the empty seat, his eyes trailing after a few drops of rain that had gotten on the door.

It had been three weeks since the last time they had sex, and ever since the event with the gang member, they had gotten even closer physically.

Other than today, Lake couldn’t remember the last time he spent more than an hour apart from Davian, and that included sleeping.

And in that time, Davian hadn’t made a single move. Hugs and holding hands didn’t count, not when Lake knew that Davian was just being his usual overprotective self.

Was he doing something wrong? Was it his face? Maybe he just wasn’t pretty enough to keep a Mafia King’s attention...

His self-deprecating thoughts were interrupted by the passenger door opening, cool wet air rushing in.

Davian had returned, the Alpha was dripping wet and holding a delicate umbrella that he clearly hadn’t used.

"Had a hard time finding an umbrella," He muttered a brief explanation before helping him out.

Lake noted that Davian only held the umbrella over him, he wanted to protest but honestly, the Alpha was already soaked through and the umbrella was far too small to cover them both.

It was one of the few downsides to not having live-in house staff.

Lake wiped Davian’s wet face with his hands when they got to the foyer, a puddle of water forming beneath the Alpha.

His efforts weren’t efficient, but Davian didn’t seem to mind, letting Lake pat down his face as much as he wanted.

"Let’s go clean up," Lake retrieved his hands, starting to catch a chill, although he had barely gotten any rain on him, his hands the wettest part of him.

As they quietly made their way through empty hallways to their connected bedrooms, they were both deep in their own thoughts.

Lake considered offering to shower with Davian again but as bold as he could be, he wasn’t that forward.

What if Davian was only going along with it because he made the first move each time?

Davian who was walking behind him had already taken off his turtleneck sweater, it was heavy with moisture, and it was far more comfortable to have it off.

The cleaning staff had come in while Lake was away all day to clean up the mansion but now he had left trails of rainwater on the carpet, they might have to come in again the next day.

He stood awkwardly for a moment when he got to Lake’s room, half-expecting the Omega to invite him to take a shower, but Lake just pinned back his hair and started undressing.
