Chapter 303: -Chapter 303-

Lake served himself another glass, having a love-hate relationship with the sour-sweet drink.

"Nothing is getting in between me and planning your wedding, except you." Lake said generously.

"I already feel better about the wedding already," Caspian said with a smile that stuck stubbornly to his pink-tinged face.

"Good," Lake said confidently, "Now, all I need is a notepad, a coat a couple sizes too big, and an uncomfortable pencil skirt."

Now Caspian had to drop his half-empty glass, choking lightly while laughing.

"I don’t think you need all that, a notepad is more than enough." He managed through laughter.

"Why don’t we start small?" Lake started, taking his newly acquired job very seriously. "Do you want an engagement party?"

"It sounds fun," Caspian tucked his legs under him, "I should probably talk about that with Asher."

"That’s fine," Lake made mental notes, "While you do that, I’ll draw up a proper planner and do more research."

"Now that that’s decided," Caspian was quick to chime in, shooting to his feet. "I still haven’t taught you how to play a single game, and you’ll have to leave soon."

"I’ll probably be back tomorrow." Lake obediently got to his feet and went after Caspian.

He would also have to talk about it with Davian, but even more than getting to help his friend plan his wedding, Lake was happy that he had something to keep him busy.

For someone who spent the better part of his life constantly on the move, he was having a difficult time adjusting to his new sedentary lifestyle.

It wasn’t that he was eager for menial jobs, he just wanted something fun to keep him occupied, and planning a wedding was perfect for that.

Had he ever planned a wedding before? No.

Had he even been to a wedding before? Also no.

But he really wanted to do this and he had a lot of free time on his hands so it would work out somehow.

"So what are we doing?" He asked when Caspian had him seated in front of the big screen with a controller in hand.

"Playing a game," Caspian let him know with a contagious smile, "Let’s start with a PvP so it’ll be easier to teach you."

"I’m going to pretend I know what that means," Lake said dryly.

"Player versus player. Do you want popcorn?"

"Sure..."

"Lake!" Caspian whined, moving their chairs closer so he could hang off his arm. "That’s five wins in a row! You said you’ve never played before."

Lake’s smug look didn’t help his claims, "I haven’t, it’s just beginner’s luck."

"Fine, let’s play another round." Caspian insisted with newfound enthusiasm.

"No can do," Lake muttered, glancing at his phone. "I promised not to be late for dinner."

Caspian regained his composure almost instantly, "Are you sure you’re fine driving? It’s already sundown."

Lake mostly didn’t mind Caspian fussing over him, especially now that he knew that the Omega couldn’t drive. A driving game had made him privy to that information.

"It’s not much different from driving in the daytime." Lake stood up and stretched his back. "I’m fine," He quickly said to Caspian’s worried look.

If everyone was already treating him like he would break then how would they handle his final trimester?

Caspian walked him to the front door with promises that he would talk to Asher.

"You don’t have to rush it," Lake told him kindly, opening the door to his car. "There’s no time limit, so just give me a call whenever you get around to doing that."

"Alright, thank you! Bye!"

Lake drove out with Caspian waving him off, glancing at his phone again, maybe he shouldn’t have put it on dnd.

But, it was imperative that he set down boundaries, or he would quickly feel suffocated.

Asher scowled at his right-hand man who was perched on a seat across from him. "At least call him to find out if the visit is over."

Jael ignored the Alpha’s grumbling, it wasn’t the first time Asher asked that, and it wouldn’t be the last.

"When it’s over, Caspian will call," He said flatly, scrolling through texts on his phone.

Asher got to his feet and prowled around the room like a caged animal, dissatisfied to say the least.

His phone ringing then made him jump and reach for it, answering the call without glancing at the caller ID.

"Where’s Lake?" The very last person he expected to hear spoke before he could jump the gun.

Asher’s scowl turned darker while Jael held back a smug smile, because he had seen the caller before Asher lunged for his phone.

"Keeping me from my mate, so come take him." Asher said in a rush without mincing words.

"After their visit is over," He added in a quieter voice, because they both couldn’t do anything until the two Omegas were done catching up.

"It’s almost seven PM, we were supposed to go out for dinner." Davian complained flatly, his monotone voice completely hiding the fact that he was also pacing in his study.

"And I was supposed to be home two hours ago, you’re preaching to the choir..."

A call came in while both Alphas were exchanging their woes, and Asher didn’t hesitate to hang up on the other Mafia King.

"Asher-"

"Baby? Can I come home?" He asked like a kicked puppy.

"Yes, I’ll wait for you at the door..."

-+-

Davian glanced at his phone with a frown, he had a feeling that Asher would keep away while his mate was over, but he didn’t think that the other Mafia King’s mate would go as far as to keep him out of the house.

It made him feel less miserable for a couple of reasons, trying Lake’s phone one more time.

He had been trying to call him for a while now and he hadn’t gotten a response, so he found himself dialing up Asher.

To his surprise, he did get an answer this time, the sound of an engine running in the background when the call connected.
