Chapter 302: -Chapter 302-

He already had his gaming setup moved from the bedroom, it was something he should have done a long time ago.

Sure he had already had a conversation over with phone with Lake, but he was pretty sure he still had several hours of chatting left in him.

A wedding was all Asher could talk about ever since they got back from Moonstone, and although the wedding was very real, it still felt strange telling Lake about it.

He felt like an impostor as he did, like he was making it all up.

Hearing Lake be genuinely excited for him, made it easier to handle the impostor syndrome.

It made him realize that there had been no one to talk to about his first wedding, even though he had only negative things to say about it.

And now that he was aware of who Dahlia really was it made the circumstances about his forced first wedding all the more sadder.

His upcoming wedding aside, he had really wanted to see Lake because of what he had learned about the other Omega.

It had been contrasting to have such dark details be told while Lake dug into an entire chocolate cake.

He hadn’t mentioned much about his past to Lake but the Omega did know a bit about Noah.

So Caspian hadn’t minded when Lake censored some things. All he really wanted to know was that his friend was alright, and he wasn’t unscathed but he would turn out okay.

Lake really looked exhausted, it was why he hadn’t bothered waking him up after he dozed off during their call, quietly hanging up so he wouldn’t interrupt his well-needed nap.

He was glad to hear that Davian had gotten rid of Matilda, she had come off like a spiteful person, so he wouldn’t be surprised if she could do something sinister to Lake.

And he had been right on the nose because Lake had divulged the news about her and the mansion’s Butler conniving to drug Lake’s food.

Although both were gone from the mansion at that point, Caspian had wanted to pick Lake up and bring him over here to keep him safe.

His patient waiting paid off because he was soon told that Lake was here.

Caspian was proud of himself for not waiting at the front doors, hurrying down the stairs just as the gates were being opened.

Striding out the open front doors with a blinding smile just as Lake got down from his car.

They had just seen yesterday but it felt like weeks, Caspian giving in to the urge to hug Lake.

"I really needed that," Lake said with a soft sigh, reluctantly breaking away from the hug because they needed to go in.

"I made iced tea," Caspian was immediately chatting his ears off as soon as they started up the stairs. "I made it all by myself too..."

It had been a few weeks now since Lake was here but the warmth still felt the same.

It felt like even the floors were cleaned with love, the mansion clean but lived in.

Davian’s home felt more like a hotel in comparison, cold and clinical.

"Are we going to grab the tea from the kitchen?" He found himself asking.

Because the very first time he had been at the mansion, they had gone to the kitchen first thing.

"Yeah, let’s do that."

"So is there a date for the wedding?" Lake plunged in, more invested in the wedding than anything else.

The iced tea and games took a backseat when it came to that.

He had never been interested in weddings, or it was more that he had never thought about them

There was simply no time to. He wasn’t about to rope his future partner into the debts he used to have.

And he couldn’t be more disinterested in flings, and one-night stands.

But now that he had no money issues, just a complicated relationship with an overprotective Mafia King, his love for weddings was shining through.

"Honestly, we haven’t even done an engagement yet," Caspian sighed, preparing a tray for the tea.

"...It’s just... it feels like too much, and nothing all at once." He added as he started for the door.

Lake looked thoughtful, when Caspian had told him about the wedding, he hadn’t thought that the issues around it would be this and not the actual preparations.

"What’s Asher saying about it?" He asked carefully.

"He really wants to be my husband, it’s endearing," Caspian said with a bittersweet smile. "And I know he wants to kind of overwrite my first wedding..."

Lake stepped forward to help Caspian open the door at that point because Caspian’s hands were full.

"Thank you," The blond Omega said gratefully, placing the tray on the center table and getting comfortable on a couch.

Lake followed suit, pouring them glasses of iced tea while Caspian went on with what he had to say.

"The issues lie with me," Caspian took the offered glass of tea, "It’s turning out to be a bigger deal than I anticipated, and I know that Asher will take over the preparations if I ask him to, but I don’t want to miss out on that."

Lake listened intently, fighting the urge to smack his lips from the sour aftertaste of the iced tea.

"I know, it’s ridiculous-"

"It’s not," Lake was quick to interject. "Planning a wedding is a big deal, and it’s your wedding, of course, you would want to be completely involved."

"There’s only one thing missing, and that’s you forgetting that you don’t have to do everything alone. You can even hire a wedding planner, as long as I’m also allowed to apply..."

Caspian laughed at this point, the tension easing out of his shoulders. "Are you sure you’re fine with taking on such stress?"

Lake shot him an exasperated look, "I’m only a few weeks pregnant, I’m fine."

"Let me rephrase that," Caspian added, still in a fit of laughter. "Will Davian let you take on such stress?"
