Chapter 245: -Chapter 245-

Lake had to chuckle at that, Caspian was perfectly fine if he could make jokes.

There wasn’t much to discuss because they were still on the road, and soon he had to return to Clint.

Or so he thought... the bench he had left the Alpha on was empty and so was the park.

If he walked down further, he would bump into Freida, and unless he went off to bother the lady, Clint was just gone.

Lake was almost worried for a moment that he had hallucinated the Alpha.

He didn’t wait to see if Clint would return, snagging up his bag and hot-footing it out of the park.

Lake had already spent far longer than he planned to at the park, forgetting to get himself earphones from how his day went.

He didn’t remember until he had gotten back to his apartment, and there was nothing else to do but leave it till the next day.

Matilda liked to walk around the mansion whenever she needed to sort out her thoughts.

Savannah was currently out with friends, and Davian was hardly ever in the mansion.

So it was just her and Arthur... the nosy butler was constantly keeping tabs on her, and Matilda wondered if he thought she was stupid.

Arthur wasn’t much of an issue, her problems were and always had been Mafia King Davian.

Davian was hardly in the mansion, and that was a big issue.

Ever since Davian’s return from his trip when they had dinner together, she couldn’t get a hold of him.

He was constantly out of the mansion, and they were no different from the house staff because of that.

All Matilda did all day was sit in the mansion, personally overseeing dinner so that she could get Davian to eat.

Even trying to take lunch to his office didn’t work, she still couldn’t believe he had turned her away.

She should have known, things had gone too well at the start, and Davian had been generous enough to invite them to stay for as long as they wanted to.

This was basically a cold war between them, he intended to ignore them until they left of their own volition.

But Davian underestimated her on that end because Matilda was nothing but patient.

An opportunity was bound to present itself soon and she would make sure to take full advantage of it.

Caspian took Asher’s hand and let him help him out of the car.

They were at the pack house, it was afternoon and the parking lot was a little crowded.

But as they started for the entrance it was practically impossible to miss the couple coming out at that very moment.

Caspian couldn’t say who was more surprised to see the other, him or Dahlia.

Dahlia was hanging off Noah’s arm, looking completely blissful, right until they made eye contact.

Caspian tilted his head to the side, ignoring Dahlia who had gone a concerning pale shade, and focused on Noah.

"Why are you so surprised to see me?" He addressed the Alpha, Asher’s arm around his waist. "You sent me a court-signed order."

Dahlia looked shocked and betrayed by this news, awkwardly separating from Noah and standing off to the side.

"I didn’t think you’d come so soon," Noah scratched his head, avoiding Mafia King Asher’s crippling stare.

"Well, I did." Caspian said flippantly, "So let’s get this over with."

"Get what?" Noah asked, genuinely confused.

"The divorce? You look like you already found yourself someone new," Caspian tagged on, addressing Dahlia for the first time.

This entire situation was already unbearable enough, adding Dahlia to the mix was just cruel.

"Dahlia? No, she’s just helping out with the Pack," Noah said ruthlessly, his tone dismissive.

Caspian couldn’t feel bad for Dahlia if he tried, "I really don’t care Noah. Where and what do I have to sign? You can keep the title."

If they could resolve this without him needing to even step a foot into the pack house, he would be thrilled.

Noah pursed his lips, clearly not agreeing with the divorce, which was ridiculous because he had been the one to bring it up.

"Can we talk about this?" He tried to bargain instead.

"There’s nothing to talk about," Caspian said coldly, "You get to keep the title of Alpha and I get to be free, it sounds like a fair deal to me."

He was having a difficult time wondering why Noah had to make this so complicated.

Caspian really believed that it was because it was difficult running the pack, but here was Dahlia, doing it for free.

He flicked his eyes over his ex-best friend, her glassy eyes doing nothing for him.

"That’s not... This is why I wanted us to talk. I want to try and make things work between us." Noah said, his tone serious.

Caspian was so flabbergasted that he had to look at his mate to make sure he wasn’t hearing things.

"I have another Alpha’s mating mark," He spelled out for Noah.

There were a lot of reasons why his suggestion wouldn’t have but that was the most out there and obvious.

"I don’t care," Noah shrugged stubbornly.

Caspian muttered a curse under his breath, this was supposed to be easy.

As long as he and Noah agreed to the divorce, it would be over in no time but the aggravating Alpha choosing this route meant that it would drag out.

"You don’t even like men... we’re not having this conversation out here anymore, show me to a room." Caspian cut himself off.

He was starting to get worked up, and they were drawing a crowd, a terrible combination.

Dahlia looked shattered where she stood, clearly previously unaware of everything unfolding right in front of her.

Caspian could imagine how she had ended up here. She was at the pack house when Warren and Tammy turned against each other.

It meant that she hadn’t left since then, using the chance to get closer to Noah.
