Chapter 242: -Chapter 242-

"You’re divorcing Asher?" Lake asked, sounding far more shaken than Caspian would have thought.

"God no," Caspian managed to force out, breathless from laughing. "I was married before I met Asher."

"What?" Lake blurted out, somehow sounding more shocked by this than he was by the idea of Caspian leaving Asher.

"It’s a little complicated," Caspian said self-consciously.

"You had to run away from him, I’m not surprised," Lake said darkly.

"Among other reasons," He tagged on.

Telling Lake had turned out to be a great idea, the other Omega couldn’t stop saying all of the right things.

"So you’re going back to Moonstone?" Lake asked, it sounded like the Omega was moving around in his apartment, keeping himself occupied as they spoke.

"Unfortunately," Caspian sighed.

"Do you need company? I’m not sure what I can do to help, but I’ll do whatever I can." Lake was quick to offer.

"Thank you, really, I appreciate it." Caspian said gratefully, "But Asher and I should be able to handle it. I just needed someone to vent to."

"That I can do," Lake reassured him, "Don’t hesitate to call, I really don’t have much else to do, trust me."

Caspian laughed at that, feeling much lighter than before he made the call.

The conversation moved to more lighter topics, like what next they would attempt to bake.

And by the time he hung up, he was in a much better mood.

There was no reason to interrupt Asher’s day with news like this, he would just let his mate know after dinner.

Asher’s scowl was the exact expression he had on his face when he first saw the email, it made him smile at the similarity.

"I should have shot him the last time we met," Asher muttered, his displeasure clear to see.

Caspian laughed then, "We would have a difficult time keeping that from the High Council."

"Besides, we don’t have to go right now," He added, getting comfortable in a way that he could be in constant contact with his mate while getting to see the TV screen.

Asher dropped his phone on the table and then gave him his full attention, his hands sliding down the outer part of his thighs."But we are." He said decisively, "And after that, we’re getting married. I want you all to myself."

"All that ties me to Noah, is a piece of paper and years of lies. I’ve always been yours."

That was true in more ways than one, his Mafia King had bought him after all.

"How soon are we going down to Moonstone?" Caspian steered the conversation back to the topic at hand.

Asher’s eyes matched the consistency of lava, his mate’s hands at his waist now.

"First thing tomorrow," Asher said with furrowed brows, upsetting himself every time he thought about it.

"Isn’t that too soon?" Caspian seized the opportunity of Asher leaning over him to sink his hands in his mate’s long hair. "I don’t know how long we might have to stay in Moonstone."

"Jael can handle things without me for however long it takes." Asher doubled down.

Now Caspian was resting against the arm of the couch, Asher laying in between his parted legs.

"Plus, Moonstone is only a couple hours away, we can always drive down to Haines and back if necessary."

Caspian noted that Asher emphasized the fact that they would both be doing the driving back to Haines.

He wouldn’t have it any other way, he didn’t want to be left alone in Moonstone.

He hadn’t planned to return to Moonstone so soon but he supposed he should have seen this coming.

Too much had happened at once the last time they were there, or it would have been the perfect time to demand a divorce.

But learning about the true circumstances around his parents’ death wasn’t exactly the perfect backdrop for a divorce.

Besides, his and Asher’s relationship was far from alright at the time.

He hadn’t addressed Asher talking about a marriage between them but it had filled him up with giddiness.

A wedding he actually had a choice in, a wedding with someone he loved.

Being married twice before twenty-two was not in his life plans but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

"Don’t you need to tell Jael tonight?" Caspian spoke up when Asher closed the distance between them and placed a chaste kiss on his willing mouth.

Asher made a face, right before pushing himself off the couch. "I’ll be right back."

Caspian sat tight because it didn’t matter how long Asher took, he wasn’t going anywhere.

His gaze drifted to the windows, and he was suddenly struck with the memory of when he had tried to escape Asher through the window.

A silly thought of leaving through the window to prank Asher chasing down the memory.

Yeah, no.

There was no fun way to scale down the side of the house.

Besides, if they were leaving first thing the next morning as Asher said, it meant that he needed to do some packing tonight.

The best part about this particular trip to Moonstone, other than the fact that he would no longer be legally bound to Noah.

Was that he no longer had to pretend to be who he wasn’t.

Caspian contemplated just leaving the packing for the trip till the next morning but the more he thought about what clothes he would take, the less patient he became.

So by the time Asher returned, he was already knee-deep in clothes in the closet.

Asher said nothing at the questionable scene, he just walked over and picked up his mate out of the controlled chaos, heading for the bed.

"What did Jael say?" Caspian asked, letting himself be carried without protest.

"Nothing, he’s just glad he doesn’t have to tag along." Asher let him know, gently placing him on the bed.

Caspian pulled Asher right along with him, both falling on the bed in a tangle of limbs.

"He should keep his fingers crossed," Caspian muttered.

Noah was stupid and vindictive, an awful combination for what they needed to do.
