Chapter 240: -Chapter 240-
Lake just reached for a pizza, busying himself to spare Caspian the attention.
He took a few bites of the pizza and took it with him to the kitchen so he could check on the muffins.
Maybe it was because they were in his little apartment, but Mafia King Asher and his right-hand man’s presence didn’t turn out as terribly as he thought.
By the time the muffins were ready, they were already done with eating the pizza.
Lake ate little but lunch wasn’t exactly a meal he was used to eating. He was better adjusted to large dinners to make up for being barely able to eat lunch.
He packed up most of the muffins which turned out really nice for Caspian.
"This is too much for just me," Caspian was quick on the protest.
"I’m not the biggest fan of sweets," Lake stopped him from taking out the packed-up snacks. "There’s more of you guys too, I don’t mind."
Caspian shot him a questioning look as he gently nudged the Omega out of his messy kitchen.
"Are you sure?" Caspian asked with furrowed brows.
"We can always bake more if I’m craving treats," Lake let him know.
Even though he would never be craving treats if it meant that he had to bake again.
The only person who could make him get into the kitchen with the intention of baking was Caspian.
And the sweet Omega was waving him goodbye from the confines of his mate’s arms, Jael holding the little bag of muffins.
Lake closed the door after Caspian went out of sight, heading right for the kitchen to clean up.
The lunch date gave him something to do with his day, and it had been fun.
The leftover pizza had already gone into his fridge, and the kitchen was fairly easy to clean.
All he had to do was wash the muffin pan and a few bowls, a quick sweep of the space and it was sparkling.
Caspian had recommended trying iced tea with the muffins, and Lake wasn’t a tea person, but he would try a lot of things because Caspian recommended it.
He had also not hated the lemon tea he tried the day before so he really considered it.
Seeing as there was leftover pizza and a few muffins, his dinner was more or less set.
A brief trip to the store to grab tea was a sacrifice he could make.
Lake still hadn’t gone through the clothes Caspian got for him, which meant that he still didn’t have enough clothes to wear.
Unfortunately, that meant that he had to deal with his little pile of laundry the next day so he could have clothes to wear.

Davian walked into his primary care physician’s office. The Victorian decor was a tad dreary considering his occupation, but he preferred it this way.
"You didn’t have to come to my office for this," Micheal Perez was saying as he respectfully shook his hand. "Just say the word, and I’ll drive down to the mansion..."
The doctor said that every time Davian came to his office instead, which was usually how things went.
The doctor hadn’t been in the mansion since his parent’s death, and Davian wanted to keep it that way now more than ever.
Matilda and Savannah’s presence at the mansion hadn’t changed anything, it had only been a few days in retrospect.
"I don’t mind," Davian dismissed the doctor’s words. "I had an accidental rut the other day..."
Davian should probably have paid a visit to his doctor right after the incidental rut but it wasn’t like his slip-up could have been fixed after it had already happened.
He had been warned that if he stayed on rut inhibitors for too long without breaks, he was going to have an incident.
So it wasn’t exactly an independent event, he knew it would happen, he just didn’t know when.
Doctor Perez had a grave expression on his face, "I see," The doctor murmured, expecting more details.
Davian had none to give to him; he trusted the doctor more than most people but he wasn’t eager to share.
And that was because he had been his parents’ doctor, so it was an inherited trust.
"You said if I stopped the inhibitors and had a rut, it’ll remedy it?"
Micheal Perez had stress lines on his forehead, "Well, what you’re currently experiencing is quite common, but fixing it isn’t as simple as that."
Perez had told the Mafia King all of this before but he felt the need to reiterate himself.
Telling a Mafia King something he wasn’t completely certain about was a very unsafe way to carry out his practice.
"Your body is merely protesting because the inhibitors interrupt the usual progression of things..."
Davian’s jaw was set, displeased. "Why don’t we try it? And if it doesn’t work we’ll figure something else out." He interrupted.
Micheal straightened up, "O-Of course. And there’s a high chance it’ll work; the only downside is that your ruts might get irrational shortly down the line again."
Davian considered his options and decided to cross that bridge when he got to it.
Granted it had been less than a week but Lake was still fresh in his mind. He would prefer not to have to deal with that every couple of months.
"That’s fine," He accepted.
If Doctor Perez disapproved of his life choices, the balding middle-aged man said nothing about it, bringing out a clipboard to take some notes.
"I’ll need to run some tests before I give you the go-ahead to stop the pills." He wrote as he spoke, his mannerisms professional.
The fact that the Alpha needed to use daily pills instead of more long-term inhibitors meant that this was already a long time coming.
There was no long-term harm to using inhibitors, and as soon as he got off them, his rut cycle would gradually return to normal.
It was the only reason Perez allowed it, because Mafia King Davian couldn’t avoid his ruts forever.
