Chapter 230: -Chapter 230-
Lake’s first order of the day was going grocery shopping. He was fine with the clothes he had for a couple of days, and he could always do the laundry.
He was back with his haul late in the morning, stopping to have a quick breakfast.
He had stopped at a bakery on his way back from the grocery store to grab some freshly baked cinnamon rolls and chocolate-filled bread.
After his filling, warm breakfast, he got busy putting away the groceries before settling down to watch a movie.
There was so much time to himself that Lake didn’t know what to do, he felt like a flower under sunlight in the rays of the afternoon sun spilling into the living room.
This freedom he had now was one he never wanted to lose.

Matilda sat for lunch at the head of the grand table in the main dining room, fantasizing about when she would be pulling the strings.
Thankfully, there was still some time before Davian would return, because she was having a difficult time making an important decision.
She had wanted nothing more than to move into the prestigious Black mansion.
But there had previously been no reason to have that arranged much earlier.
Now that she had someone found a reason to come in and potentially stay, she was immediately scheming to have her daughter come live here as well.
Matilda was worried that if she brought Savannah before Davian returned, it would give the Mafia King apt reason to kick them both out.
But at the same time, she was worried that if her daughter wasn’t in the mansion before Davian returned, she might never be able to get her in.
And Savannah being here was crucial for a lot of her plans so she couldn’t let that happen.
She mulled over it for the rest of the day, painfully aware of the fact that she was running out of time.
The truth was that if Davian wouldn’t let them stay at the mansion, Savannah’s presence or absence wouldn’t really matter.
So by sunset, Matilda had come to a decision. She made a call and arranged for Savannah to be brought to the mansion.
Picking out a room for her daughter like she was the mistress of the mansion.
Arthur shot her covert looks as she roped him along on her mission to find the perfect room for her ’daughter.’
He was quickly starting to realize that he might have invited the devil into his space just to get rid of Lake.
His lips itched to ask ’Miss’ Matilda if she bothered to get permission from Master Davian before moving herself and her entire family into the mansion.
Arthur wanted nothing more than to inform the Master, but the last thing he wanted to do was get on Miss Matilda’s bad side.
Because even if she wasn’t in the mansion anymore, she could still make arrangements for him to lose his position.
So he decided not to get involved in whatever she was scheming. Master Davian would be back soon, and he would let the Master get rid of the leeching woman and daughter duo.
Savannah Black was at the mansion first thing the next morning, and her mother was at the front door to receive her.
Matilda beamed at the sight of her gorgeous daughter, who listened to her every word.
"What are you waiting for?" She snapped at the house staff as Savannah walked up the stairs. "Take her bags up to her room."
"Hi, Mom," Savannah went into her mother’s open arms.
"How was your trip, dear?" Matilda asked, taking her daughter’s arm to lead her inside.
"It was short," She replied, looking around the foyer with emerald green eyes filled with wonder. "I didn’t know that Cousin Davian’s house was so close to ours."
"Just like I told you over the phone," Matilda dropped her voice as she spoke.
"Davian should be back today or tomorrow. So let me handle all the talking, just sit quiet and reply when you’re spoken to."
Savannah listened intently, nodding obediently. Her mom always knew what was best and had her best interest at heart.
"Good girl, let’s have breakfast now." Matilda smiled serenely. "We can discuss this more later."
Arthur was the one to lead them to the dining room, he kept his shoulders straight, his expression poised.
He wanted to say that he was sure that the Master would get rid of them, but Master Davian was unpredictable.
And there was no saying that he wouldn’t have a soft spot for them as his only if very distant relatives.
He couldn’t help his sour expression as he bowed stiffly at the waist with a towel hung over his arm.
"Breakfast will be served in a few minutes," He muttered in a flat tone, quickly making himself scarce.
"It so useful to have a butler, Mom." Savannah marveled. "We should get one for the house."
Matilda reached across the table to fondly place a hand on her daughter’s. "We might not need to. Just take Arthur as your butler from now on."
She spoke in a more blunt manner now that it was just them in the large dining room.
She had no plans of leaving the mansion at all if she could help it, and she would do everything within her power to achieve that.
Savannah’s lips stretched into a smile at that, chatting away excitedly at her plans to inform her friend group that her mom got her a butler.
Matilda listened to her intently, watching her enjoying her first of many meals in the mansion.
"Can’t you see her struggling with the chicken?" She interrupted Savannah to snap at a house staff she made stay with them in the dining room.
"Can’t you perform such a simple task? Must everything be spelled out for you?"
The maid wilted underneath her constant berating, taking the knife and fork that Savannah gladly gave her to cut up the chicken.
The maid kept her gaze fixed on the plate but she could avoid the cruel green stare of Savannah, it was one she hid beneath a harmless smile.
