Chapter 167: +Chapter 167+

Caspian turned to the screen after they left, realizing that he had forgotten to ask Keith to turn it off before he left.

He could just ask someone else to - a loud thud just outside the cinema room made him spin around, concern on his face.

"Keith? What was that?"

"Nothing important," Keith was quick to call back, someone’s pained groans in the background.

Caspian walked forward to pick up the cans, tossing the in the empty bowls of popcorn which he stacked.

Yeah, Keith was right, they had eaten way too much popcorn. But it was hardly their fault, after the first time Keith went for more popcorn, the kitchen just kept bringing more.

It was easy to lose track of how much they had eaten because of that, Peter put away most of the popcorn, so he had a feeling that he had fallen asleep because of that.

It was certainly not because he had gotten bored of the movie because he was having the best time watching it.

Fortunately, there wasn’t littered popcorn all over the carpeted ground, but it would still need to be clean, and he had a feeling that the house staff did that frequently.

Caspian started off for the kitchen, to drop off the bowls, planning to ask for help with putting the screen on when he got there.

The kitchen staff weren’t pleased when he brought the bowls, but they weren’t surprised either, so he would take it as some progress.

Caspian returned to the bedroom after dealing with the cinema room, having something to do distracted him from his thoughts, but now that he was all alone, the volume of his pesky thoughts cranked up.

He had planned to talk to Asher about the possibility of feeding the men stationed to the mansion, there was definitely enough food to go around, and it was something to keep him busy.

So, it was a win for everyone, well, except maybe the kitchen staff and Asher who wouldn’t be too happy to hear that he wanted to work.

But he was willing to make some sacrifices for the greater good, if he could accept the danger of Asher’s job, then the Alpha would have to do the same...

Besides, he doubted he would be doing anything stressful, he would just be throwing orders around, but it would keep him occupied and he was content with that.

He thought about calling Asher as he sat on the couch, but quickly scrapped the thought.

Even aside from what happened on their last call, Caspian didn’t like to call Asher or even Jael while they were busy.

Whatever he needed could always wait, not to mention that he had an entire house full of people at his beck and call.

He just thought of calling because he was still worried about Asher, his relaxed air on the call did calm him somewhat, but intrusive thoughts kept popping in his head about Asher getting shot.

He would have heard about it by now if something bad happened, right?

Frustrated by his own thoughts, Caspian rose to his feet, leaving his phone behind on the couch.

He needed a proper distraction, or he would give himself a migraine from thinking so hard.

Another movie wouldn’t help, and playing games alone got boring quickly.

He still had to discuss his plans to take over the kitchen with Asher, not because he needed the Alpha’s approval, but because the kitchen staff wouldn’t take him seriously if it wasn’t Asher giving the orders.

And he knew it wasn’t because they didn’t respect him but because they didn’t want him doing a single thing.

The day had basically come to an end, and seeing as Asher and Jael wouldn’t be returning early, he might as well have an early dinner.

He decided to take a shower before then, his attention drawn to the pool when he stepped inside the bathroom.

It was impressive that he hadn’t gotten into the pool even once, sure he couldn’t swim but the bathroom pool was shallow compared to outdoor pools.

It would barely get up to his shoulders even in the deep end, it was the perfect distraction. It was no outdoor pool, but it would suffice.

Or so he thought, he took a quick steamy shower and then dipped his foot into the water. It was so shockingly cold that he pulled the appendage right back.

All his plans to float around in the pool for at least an hour were immediately thrown to the side.

There was certainly a way to adjust the temperature of the water, but he didn’t want to have to ask someone to help out.

Maybe it was the shower he took but he felt relaxed and lazy, too lazy to try and figure out the pool by himself.

For dinner, he even used the landline, much to the relief of the maid that had picked up.

Maybe it was because he hadn’t taken a nap, or it was the after-effects of how much wine he had drank the night before.

Honestly, it was a miracle he hadn’t woken up hungover.

But it was the first time he had drank that much, maybe it was newbie’s luck working for him.

Caspian had no plans to drink that much again, or even at all, especially if it made him forget something like begging Asher not to go to work that morning.

He ate dinner alone while scrolling through videos on his phone, and even as he did, he wondered if Asher and Jael had even eaten all day.

After his dinner dishes had been cleared, Caspian remained on the couch and scrolled through some more videos, pausing momentarily to blink the sleepiness out of his eyes.

He frowned when he started dozing off, wondering why he was so drowsy when he had woken up late.

The shower and the food he had eaten probably had a lot to do with that but, it was still early though so he could just take a quick nap for a few hours.
