Chapter 141: +Chapter 141+

Caspian couldn’t feel guilty about being the reason that Jael would not be getting any rest because he was immediately distracted by Asher.

He closed the door behind him and closed the distance between them, Asher was docile as he peacefully slept but he knew that would change the moment he woke up.

Caspian looked over Asher carefully, noting that Jael had to drill steel beams into the ground for better support.

The cuffs around his wrist weren’t the typical ones, they were thicker, and loose enough not to bruise.

He contemplated just crashing on the couch because it would be a little difficult to get comfortable on the bed while Asher was tied down on it.

The Alpha was also peacefully asleep so he just snagged up a pillow and wandered over to a couch.

Caspian didn’t mind sleeping there for a few hours, Asher would most likely be up soon.

As a matter of fact, it was a bit startling that the Alpha was fast asleep in the middle of his rut.

It was almost like he hadn’t slept properly in a while.

Caspian wouldn’t know that because Asher had taken to not sleeping in the bedroom anymore.

The couch was comfortable, nothing like the couch he used to sleep on. He could stretch out easily, and it was well-padded.

He had such a packed day that it didn’t take very long to fall asleep. He also needed his strength for the next couple of days.

The sound of clanging chains woke Caspian up, it was barely dawn and he had been asleep for longer than he expected.

He woke up and got on his hands and knees to peek over the back of the couch.

Caspian didn’t think that Asher could break free of the chains but he was being careful regardless.

He looked over at the bed to find Asher staring right at him, the sound of him pulling at his chains going quiet.

Caspian got off the couch and walked over to him, rubbing the residues of sleep out of his eyes.

"Have you been awake long?" He half-yawned, casually getting on the bed.

"You shouldn’t be here."

Hearing Asher’s voice made him pause, he knew that the leather strap was out of his mouth but it was still startling.

"What do you mean?" Caspian asked patronizingly, "Where else would I be?"

Asher eyed him as he inched closer, and if he wasn’t strapped down, he would move away.

"Not here," He repeated doggedly.

Caspian already knew that Asher would be difficult to convince when he was lucid so this wasn’t a surprising distraction.

"Then who’s going to help you out here?" He teased, ghosting his hands over the area beneath Asher’s belt.

Asher’s shivery breath gave him his answer but he ignored the Alpha’s lower half, crawling up his body.

"Are you uncomfortable?" He asked quietly, pushing Asher’s hair out of his face.

Asher had an indescribable emotion in his eyes as he looked up at him. "You’re not upset anymore?"

Caspian’s grip on Asher’s hair tightened enough to make the Alpha wince, "Oh, I am... but it’s not about being locked up."

Asher’s expression turned wary now, "Then why?" He asked despite himself.

Waking up to finding himself tied down should be more startling than it was but he was starting to get a little used to it.

Asher’s last memories were of Caspian, even if said memories were hazy.

And he had intended to stay put until Jael showed up like he often did until he caught a whiff of Caspian’s scent, his body immediately trying to break free of his bonds without his approval.

Seeing the Omega’s bedhead peek over the couch was startling, but it was easy to put his body’s demands under control at the sight of him.

Honestly, Asher expected Caspian to be gone, half-believing that his memories of Caspian were made up by him losing his mind.

...at least until he caught the Omega’s scent.

"Because you don’t listen to me," Caspian said sharply, "And you clearly don’t listen to your body either."

Asher closed his eyes slowly only to open them immediately when Caspian harshly pulled on his hair again.

He really shouldn’t have asked why, this wasn’t a conversation he wanted to have, especially not right in the middle of his rut.

"You’re not even listening to me right now," Caspian complained.

"I am," Asher tried to defend himself but his eyes were glazing over.

The constant pressure in his hair didn’t help much either, his body temperature spiking.

"Good," Caspian praised, caressing Asher’s hair to soothe his harsh grip.

Asher made a small choked sound in his throat, wanting to close his eyes again but wary of pissing Caspian off.

It was difficult to keep his eyes open though when his vision was getting hazy, his fists clenching as he curbed the urge to drink Caspian’s scent right from his neck.

"So as soon as your rut is over, we’re going to talk about this." Caspian started listing off, too passionate about his cause to notice Asher slowly coming undone beneath him.

"And you’re going to listen to me and stop trying to fix everything all by yourself..." Caspian trailed off.

Asher’s scent was too potent to ignore, the Alpha’s gaze going out of focus. He doubted that Asher had heard a single word he said.

With a fond expression, he leaned down to kiss him.

Asher was much calmer than he was a couple of hours ago, so he wasn’t wary of the Alpha’s dangerous teeth.

There was nothing to be wary about after all, Asher could barely kiss him back, the Alpha’s movement slow and sluggish like he was drugged.

The kiss was messy because Caspian was used to Asher leading their kisses but he didn’t mind, content that he got to kiss Asher at all.

He kissed down the Alpha’s jaw, having a great time marking up Asher’s tan skin.

Asher was so docile, even with his gag gone, he didn’t protest, his quiet moans rumbling through his body.

Asher had been tied down shirtless which was great for him, his skin burned to the touch.

Caspian paused and stared with a hint of feral focus in his eyes at the juncture of Asher’s neck, a question oscillating in his head.

Asher didn’t want to mark him because he was scared of ripping his throat out but would the Alpha let him?

Caspian tried to bravely keep his composure but the niggling thought that Asher didn’t really want him would always cling to him.

"Want to mark me?" Asher broke into his thoughts, his words slurred, his gaze heavy-lidded.

Caspian snapped out of whatever had gotten to him, he wasn’t going to do that when Asher was barely lucid.

Maybe the Alpha’s smoky scent was getting to him because Caspian had never thought about that before.

"Let’s talk about that later." He said absently, leaning forward to resume marking up Asher’s skin with kisses.

"I don’t mind talking about it now," Asher went on, refusing to let it go.

"I-I..." Caspian stuttered, unsure of what to say.

It was hard to wrap his head around the fact that Asher would let him do it so easily...

He would do the same no questions asked - even if it was at the risk of getting his throat ripped out... but...

"You think I don’t want your mating mark?" Asher tilted his head to the side.

For someone who slurred his words, and could barely keep his eyes open, he was sounding a little too lucid.

Caspian also didn’t like how every one of the Alpha’s words was like a knife to his heart.

Again he was going to blame Asher’s scent replacing his oxygen for how this conversation was going.

It would tell him never to have an important conversation when pheromones were raging high like this.

"Yes," Caspian’s response was quiet, his voice small.

It was difficult not to think that way, Asher never tried to put a label on what they had, and he barely spoke about them in the long term.

The only time he spoke about anything serious was after he returned from his week-long impromptu business trip, and it was to tell him that he couldn’t mark him.

It also felt like he was the only one pushing for things to work out between them...

Caspian could scold Asher for not listening to himself but Caspian didn’t either.

He pushed all his emotional needs to the side for Asher, and that was why he couldn’t give the Alpha a straight answer at first.

The chains clanging made Caspian immediately reach out to soothe Asher, it was hardly the Alpha’s fault, he was also dealing with a lot.

It’s not Asher’s fault he was mated to an asshole who spent three straight years slowly whittling down his self-esteem.

Asher’s eyes were blazing with an emotion Caspian couldn’t put a name to.

He seemed to find it hard to speak as well so he had to fill up the silence between them.
