Chapter 115: Chapter 114. Family Reunion
Lee Hyun was in bewilderment, Sarah could tell. Perhaps even dread. She actually thought the man would just hide until she left the room, but it seemed like the trouble would be too much if they ended up getting roughed up by the gangsters wearing the skin of a company.
And so, he couldn’t help but step forward.
"...Oh?" the older man on the couch--the only one seated on the couch for that matter--arched his brow higher. It was the same with the other men, whose hostile gaze had turned into curiosity.
"Uncle, what are you doing here?" Sarah, acting like a child, half-ran past the men toward her uncle, with her cautious puppy in tow. The uncle must be weirded out by this behaviour since Sarah had been acting sharp and showing her dislike, but Sarah could chalk it up to being drunk. "Oh! Is this your party? I don’t know you like partying!"
The uncle, who had stepped out of the sitting area, held her shoulder to halt her advance into the room. Essentially, he was also covering her sight from whatever was happening around the table. "Sarah, you shouldn’t be here."
"I knoow! I think we took the wrong turn," Sarah giggled and stumbled back, crashing into her bodyguard who quickly caught her and held her waist securely so she wouldn’t keep bouncing here and there.
At least, that was how Lee Hyun saw it.
He frowned, scrunching his nose at the sharp alcohol scent from his niece. Or it could be the smell from the table, but she also looked like she had done downing a bottle or two before even coming to the club. "How much did you drink?"
"Umm...like..." Sarah pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes, arms stretching wide as she tried to think. "A looot?"
The uncle clicked his tongue and flicked a sharp gaze toward the bodyguard. "You should have taken better care of her."
"Uncle, you can’t scold my puppy!" Sarah lightly slapped the uncle’s shoulder, before hugging his arms circling her waist. "He took a goo~d care of me!"
The bodyguard smirked, leaning down to kiss the girl’s temple. The uncle narrowed his eyes, remembering that the bodyguard used to look cold and reluctant. It seemed like what they said about him finally falling for Sarah was true.
"Haa..." Lee Hyun sighed, shaking his head before looking at one of the men who stood closer to the door. "Please call a staff member to guide them to their room."
The men shrugged and one of them stepped out. The old man on the couch, as if waiting, finally opened his mouth again. "Is this the rumored niece?"
"Rumored?" Sarah tilted her head--her torso actually--to see past her uncle’s body. "You heard about me, Gramps?"
The men quietly gasped, widening their eyes in horror for a second before pretending they had all gone deaf when Sarah used the word. The corner of the old man’s eye twitched as he repeated what the young woman used to call him. "Gramps..."
"Hng? Uncle, then? Mister?" Sarah tilted her head again, confused, before stomping her foot and pursing her lips in annoyance. "Oh, who cares?!"
Well, it did seem pointless to argue with a naive, intoxicated princess. The old man decided to let it go since she wasn’t as boring as her uncle.
"Yeah, who cares," the old man chuckled. "Aren’t you supposed to be dating that Henry boy?"
"Huh--you know him, Gramps?" Sarah widened her eyes in interest and, before the uncle could stop her, escaped from her bodyguard’s hold to approach the couch. Ignoring what happened on the table, she leaned onto the backrest and looked at the old man. "We’re not dating, though? We were on a blind date once; besides, even if we were dating...so, what?"
The old man raised his brows, making the scar on his forehead look like they were wriggling, before laughing out loud. "Right--so, what? You can play as much as you want if you have power."
"Like Father--or you, Gramps?" Sarah giggled, prompting the other to silently gasp again.
But the old man seemed to be in a good mood, or just amused. It wasn’t like Sarah implied anything bad--or rather, wasn’t it flattering being compared to one of the most famous playboys in the country?
"Ah, right..." the old man, instead, glanced at his guest, who was visibly annoyed by just the mention of his dear older brother. "Your father also loves to play around, huh?"
"Since he has money and power, after all~"
Lee Hyun gritted his teeth, for a second losing his self-control and facade. Sarah truly had a knack for shoving a metaphorical knife into someone’s heart, even if she didn’t mean to. But then again, her existence itself drove a few people crazy, it seemed. The uncle soon calmed himself with that thought--there was no use in feeling irritated in this place.
"Mr. Lee, your niece is fun," the old man smiled deeply at the many shifts in his guest’s facial expression. The composure he maintained during the party seemed to unravel just by a few words from his niece. How amusing. "Why don’t you let her join us?"
"Oh, you won’t throw me out?" Sarah covered her mouth in jest, glancing mockingly at the old man’s subordinate who had been making an awkward expression since earlier.
The subordinate, someone Sarah actually recognized, cleared his throat. He certainly didn’t look as confident as he was on that hill when he was talking to Henry. "No, that’s--"
"Master," the bodyguard interjected, pulling Sarah from the couch back to his arms. He was frowning and pouting--a good look on his handsome features.
"Oh, no--my puppy is sulking!" Sarah gasped and turned around, grasping her bodyguard’s cheeks while laughing softly in adoration. She patted the bodyguard’s head while turning her head to the couch. "I don’t think I can join you, Gramps. My puppy wants me all to himself these days."
The old man narrowed his eyes in disapproval. "Can’t you discipline him?"
"I can, but...a totally obedient dog is not fun, you know~" Sarah said while squeezing the still-pouting bodyguard, who looked more and more impatient about being inside a room full of men who might lay their gaze on his master. "I like it when they are a bit feisty and giving me some reason to punish them. Besides--" she leaned onto the couch again, whispering--although not so quietly that no one could hear her. "I was asking for something nice in our room, so..."
She gave the old man a wink, and it was easy to guess what kind of things one might request in a room where a man and woman wanted to be alone.
Probably the same with the stuff scattering around the trembling youngsters on the table.
The old man laughed even louder than before. "In that case, I understand."
Just in time, a staff member of the club finally arrived at that time, with one of the men in tow. The staff looked confusedly at the young lady and her bodyguard, and then at the old man on the couch.
He gasped in horror. "Oh, God--your room is not here, Miss!"
"Obviously," Sarah laughed while the poor staff member bowed profusely toward the old man. Returning to her bodyguard’s awaiting arms, she waved at the party. "Bye, Gramps--bye, Uncle!"
With another giggle, Sarah kissed the bodyguard, who carried her again swiftly just like how they entered the room earlier. She yelped and laughed and waved to the party again as they left the room, the crisp giggle could be heard until one of the men closed the door.
"My, my...she’s just as rumored," the old man chuckled, eyes lingering on where Sarah was leaning earlier. He licked his lips before shifting his gaze back to the table. "It’ll be fun to have her around."
Lee Hyun frowned. "Sir..."
"Oh, you’re so stiff, Mister Lee. Your niece is much more exciting," the old man rolled his eyes and scoffed. "But, fine. Let’s get back to business."
* * *
Going inside the private club owned by Daesung wasn’t hard. Money was not a problem, and they only needed a single reference from a celebrity that Sol personally knew. Some splashes of alcohol on their clothes and neck later, they perfectly mimicked a pair of drunken lovers who wanted some new adventures in a new place. All they had to do was burst into the right room.
The tricky one was knowing the right room. It took a little more than two weeks for Sol’s subordinates to infiltrate the place and figure out with room that the executives and Lee Hyun usually used. Thankfully for them, they always used the same room--the biggest one for that matter, located right in the middle of the building.
Once they found out, the only thing they needed to do was wait for the uncle to go to the club and follow him afterward.
Yeah. That was all they had to do--confirmation, and then retreat. But currently, Sarah was making a mess of the room assigned to them--flipping the table, kicking the couch, toppling the vase, and throwing bottles of alcohol against the wall.
"Fuck! You fucking sick fuck!"
Sarah just wanted to see if her uncle was really meeting up with Daesung’s executives and investigate from there. She had never thought she would see such a horrifying scene akin to what she saw at the mountain villa.
She knew her family was sick in the head, but what the fuck?!
Hajin, who had been watching Sarah vent her anger with cautious eyes, finally pulled the girl back before she stepped on the shattered pieces of glass. He enveloped Sarah with his arms, stroking the girl’s trembling back. He had no idea how Sarah could stay in her act, pretending to ignore what was happening in that room right until they reached their own.
"It’s okay, Princess...it’s okay," he whispered.
"It’s not okay!" Sarah screamed into Hajin’s vest, hitting the man’s chest to further vent her anger and disgust. Her eyes, already bloodshot from the act, got even redder as tears were streaming down her cheeks.
The ones she saw on the mountain villa were already dead, too late for her to save. But what about those inside the room? Sarah wasn’t even sure all of them had passed adulthood.
She looked up, grabbing Hajin’s collar. "Can’t we save them?" she whispered, no longer in anger but desperation. "Please, can’t we save them?"
There was nothing more Hajin wanted to do than grant everything his princess wished. But this time, he gritted his teeth and replied dryly.
"No."
