Chapter 101: Chapter 100. Shackles
Sarah regretted asking for more.
Not at first, when they did it again with her on top of Hajin, bouncing in his lap. This was another first experience that made her quite fascinated and deeply satisfied. It felt like an addictive exercise—Sarah could see it becoming one of her favorites.
But then, the puppy got excited from overindulgence and asked--pleaded--for another round, and Sarah...Sarah couldn’t deny those beautiful eyes which were still tinged with a little bit of red.
At the end of it, Sarah felt she needed a real exercise--one that got her panting and sweating in agony instead of pleasure. She almost wanted to kick the man off her when he kept on kissing her shoulder and fondling her breasts from behind if he didn’t promise her he wasn’t going to pounce on her again.
"Why are you keep touching them? They are not that impressive," Sarah rolled her eyes.
"But they are yours, Princess," the man hummed in a delightful tone against her shoulder, making her squirm from the ticklish sensation.
She wasn’t quite flat, but the kindest she could tell about them was that they were...modest. Which she quite liked since it wasn’t very hard to conceal them from prying eyes in this awful world. And thankfully, she wasn’t very sensitive there, although Hajin seemed to love playing with them.
How could he hold back after seeing her naked body before? Or when she was walking around braless beneath her loose shirt?
Sarah had no idea.
"That’s enough now!" Sarah hissed and slapped his hand away when she started to feel sore from all of the bitemarks her feral dog left on her skin.
She did say he could leave marks--she just didn’t think the man would turn into a literal dog.
But the overjoyed puppy just laughed and giggled while hugging her from behind, kissing her neck and her ears while at it. Sarah could only sigh and sink into his soothing embrace.
He was one annoying big puppy, but he was her annoying big puppy, so it was alright.
"Thank you, Princess."
Suddenly, the man whispered behind her ear, making Sarah turn her head inquisitively. "Hmm?"
Hajin gave a melancholic smile. "For giving me your forgiveness."
"Well..." Sarah turned away again, shrugging. "Alright. As long as you don’t do it again."
"I won’t," Hajin put his hand over his chest, looking all serious for two seconds. Yeah, only for two seconds. "Should I tell you all the stuff I did in the past too? I’ll tell you about all the women I slept with if you want--although I don’t remember much of them..."
"What an asshole," Sarah smacked the man’s cheek--not as hard as her slap while she was still angry and fully clothed earlier. She flicked his forehead and scoffed. "And you should know already that won’t work on me. Your past relationship had nothing to do with me."
"Man can try," Hajin shrugged, nuzzling at the smacking and flicking hand. "What about last night?"
"Huh?"
"With that mistress," the grey eyes twinkled under the afternoon light. "You didn’t sound like you were acting, Princess."
Sarah pulled her hand in fluster--or tried to--but Hajin smartly caught it before she could do so, kissing her pads with a pair of smiling lips. Pressing her lips in a vain effort to hide her embarrassment, she grumbled while avoiding the keen grey eyes. "Isn’t it normal...to covet what is mine?"
"Yep," Hajin laughed in delight and held her hand tight, leaning down to kiss her twitching brow. "That is indeed very normal, Princess."
Sarah pursed her lips and gave the laughing puppy a side eye, looking at the smiley face in intrigue. "Are you usually this hyper?"
The grey eyes curled into a pair of crescents. "Only when I’m happy."
Well...he did look happy. And it wasn’t like Sarah didn’t know why he was happy. If she had to be honest...wasn’t it a happy moment for her too? Acting upon what her heart desired instead of succumbing to what her mind told her about focusing solely on the revenge felt a little liberating. Like...
Like shaking off the shackles of her enslaving revenge.
Of course, she wouldn’t abandon her plan at all. But who said she couldn’t pursue happiness while at it?
Did Sarah ever think she would find someone so dedicated to her that it moved her heart? No. Especially not after she started her second timeline. And yet, there she was, tangling in the bed with a big bad wolf who acted like a sly puppy.
The fact that this man looked like a puppy in her eyes was already weird, honestly. Unexpected, but...not terrible. Instead, she found herself getting concerned about the man.
"Are you alright?" she asked as she shifted to lie on her back, stroking the corner of the smiling lips.
Hajin tilted his head. "Why? You didn’t throw me away, so I’m very alright now."
"I mean...meeting your--Chairman Yoo like that," Sarah explained.
He didn’t look affected by it, which was why Sarah didn’t suspect anything last night. But...was he really? No matter what, the person was his biological father. Even Sarah was still affected by her father’s presence, no matter how much she hated him and wanted to act like she didn’t have one.
"Hmm..." Hajin mused while tapping the blanket over Sarah’s hip. "If I have to express it, then it was nothing but an annoyance."
Sarah arched her brows, watching Hajin pile up the pillows before leaning against them, propping his elbow there like he was posing for someone to draw him like one of their French girl or Greek guy or whatever.
Kind of annoying that he did look like one, and it was even more annoying that Sarah found herself enjoying the view.
"Ahem," she cleared her throat and pulled her blanket higher. "Why?"
Hajin shrugged. "He was nothing more than a stranger to me, so it was like having my mother’s acquaintance I had never seen suddenly come to me and ask me to do a favor."
Pfft--Sarah pressed her lips before a laugh could fully escape. "Oh--I’m sorry."
"You don’t have to," Hajin smiled and rubbed the girl’s lips in return. He loved it more when she laughed anyway. "My mother did love him, all the way until her last breath. She wouldn’t say a single bad thing about him, although just the fact he was having an affair was already bad enough--no matter how kind or affectionate he was."
"Mm," Sarah nodded in agreement.
She knew there were people who seemed to love their family so much, always doing kind things, and had a good attitude, and yet still cheated on their partners for various reasons. This kind of people was even crueler because it was harder for their partners to leave compared to if the cheaters were already bad from the start.
Like her father.
Sarah had no idea what kind of person the chairman of Yooshin Trading was. He could be a horrible person who was very affectionate and nice to their lover--who knows?
"She knew what she did was wrong, and yet she couldn’t stop her feelings. That was why she left once she knew she was pregnant, without telling her boss--well, that man," Hajin continued. "She said he would have told her to stay if he knew, perhaps even divorcing his wife for her."
A good person definitely wouldn’t do that--well, they wouldn’t have an affair in the first place. But it seemed like the chairman really did love Hajin’s mother.
But then again, Sarah’s father didn’t seem to love the third wife despite taking her to the mansion and divorcing Sarah’s mother.
Since Hajin’s mother decided to leave, she seemed to have a different personality than the third wife, at least.
"Your mother didn’t want that..." Sarah muttered.
"No. She already stole the other woman’s love, she didn’t want to steal her life too--or so she said," Hajin frowned. It didn’t seem like he believed that claim. "Besides, we would have to live with the stigma of an illegitimate child and a homewrecker here--abroad, we didn’t have to live with that kind of label."
Ah...it must have been complicated for Hajin too--Sarah thought. Without that affair, he wouldn’t have been born. His mother also worked hard to raise him alone, so even if he hated the circumstances of his birth and the origin of his creation, Hajin couldn’t hate his mother.
And Sarah, who was very thankful for Hajin’s existence by her side, felt complicated too.
"When you were saying your mother was enslaved to something..."
"She was enslaved by her love for him," Hajin said with a half-sneer. "She said all of those, but do you know her real reason for leaving?" he curled his lips deeply, as if thinking it was ridiculous. "Because she didn’t want to destroy his life; the reputation and the career he had built."
"Because she loved him?" Sarah asked quietly.
"Because she loved him," Hajin nodded, replying dryly. "And she refused to love anyone else until the end."
Twenty-eight years ago...that chairman was probably still in a lower position--perhaps battling successorship just like any wealthy family. If he wasn’t an only child and had brothers with the same level of competence, then having a child out of an affair could be detrimental.
Looking at how he needed a son to succeed him still, it seemed like he was coming from a traditional patriarchal family that was very conservative. Funnily enough, this kind of family would condemn illegitimate children until a need for a male line came up.
Suddenly, something came to Sarah’s mind. "When she came here five years ago..."
"It was to see him one last time," Hajin nodded.
