Bug Abuse? I Swear I'm Just Playing Normally!
Ch. 31 - Peashooter Upgrade: Gatling Pea!

The moment the ghost made a beeline for him, Bai Wan couldn’t help cursing the system in his head. It had to be his title drawing it over.

Damn the dog system!

What he didn’t consider was that maybe it wasn’t the title. Maybe—just maybe—after stomping on the ghost’s foot and taunting it with a dance yesterday, it would’ve wanted to murder him anyway…

They say to always leave some room for grace, you never know when paths will cross again.

Well. This reunion wasn’t looking too friendly. That ghost figure was wrapped in dark mists, its face obscured, but Bai Wan had no trouble imagining the venom and killing intent behind its stare.

The rest of the group, seeing the ghost chase after Bai Wan, collectively sighed in relief.

Liu Tong’s dead meat.

Poor Liu Tong. Still a rookie, and already stuck in a nightmare-level dungeon.

Seeing the ghost target Bai Wan instead of her, Luo Ya relaxed. Liu Tong had no remaining family anyway, so he could go join them in the afterlife and have a nice family reunion.

While the others ran for their lives, Su Yuening did the opposite—she charged forward. Her speed surged, and her body glowed faintly blue. It was her character skill at work:

[Rapid Rescue]

Description: When assisting others, your movement speed increases, and the effectiveness of your items is enhanced.

The ghost was fast, but Su Yuening was catching up. Just as it was about to reach Bai Wan, she stepped in front of him, blue glow intensifying. In her hand, a Blood-Seal Tag pulsed with the same glow.

“When you helped me that time, I swore I’d return the favor,” she said.

Back in the room, Bai Wan had dragged her into the sewer to avoid the ghost. Now it was her turn.

She faced the threat head-on, slapping the Blood-Seal Tag toward the ghost without hesitation.

From that day…

From that day she curled trembling inside a school locker, helplessly watching classmates—faces she knew and didn’t know—slaughtered before her eyes, she had made up her mind.

She would become strong and brave, and do everything she could to keep others from dying meaningless deaths in front of her.

Just like Captain Zhou Lu had said—paranormals kill people. But people… can hunt paranormals too.

She was no longer that helpless student.

She was a Para-Hunter of Lan City, Su Yuening!

Time to hunt.

Whoosh!

Unfazed by the chill spilling from the ghost’s presence, Su Yuening pressed forward, the glowing tag in her hand cutting through the air. Her acceleration was full-body, and her arms were lightning-fast.

The ghost hesitated, as if sensing something wrong.

In a flash of blue light, the tag struck true—

—but was instantly replaced by a… chicken feather.

…Huh?

Su Yuening blinked.

Bai Wan’s jaw dropped.

No way… not now… again?!

Because she hadn’t held back her strength, the feather ended up poking the ghost in the chest.

Ghost: “?”

Su Yuening: “?”

Bai Wan: “…”

Then Su Yuening looked at Bai Wan with a soul-crushed, betrayed expression—like a wife catching her husband cheating.

Why are you doing this to me?!

The ghost stared at the chicken feather, uncertain.

What kind of item is this? Some kind of new curse? Tickling me to death??

It tentatively patted the spot it had been poked.

…Nothing?

Relieved, it exhaled. That girl had scared it with her suicide charge—looked like she meant business. Its expression turned vicious again as it reached toward the white-haired girl.

Su Yuening, meanwhile, was on the verge of tears, cursing Bai Wan’s ancestors with unprecedented passion in her heart.

Why is this happening?! You bastard! After this dungeon, we’re done! WE’RE DONE!

But before the ghost could grab her, a tiny green peashooter popped up between them. The timid little guy took one look at the snarling ghost, squeaked in fear, and reflexively opened its mouth—

Pew! Pew!

Two tennis ball-sized peas struck the ghost, knocking it back a few steps.

The ghost’s gaze turned bloodthirsty. It glared at the green plant like it was a mortal enemy.

Hwoomph!

Black mists roared to life, thicker and more terrifying than before.

As time in the dungeon passed, the restraints on the paranormals were loosening. The ghost was growing stronger.

Brimming with killing intent, the ghost charged at the peashooter. The timid thing fired again and again, but it wasn’t enough. The ghost was almost on top of it.

The peashooter trembled.

The ghost’s ghastly claws reached out, mouth twisted in a wicked grin.

Then Bai Wan touched the sunflower on his shoulder.

Whoosh!

The sunflower beamed. Two sun orbs surged into the peashooter.

Shing!

To the ghost’s utter confusion, the peashooter suddenly donned an iron helmet. Based on its years of ghostly experience, this did not bode well.

Before it could process what was happening, the newly armored peashooter opened fire—

Rat-a-tat-tat!

A barrage of peas pelted the ghost like bullets, sending it stumbling backward in a daze.

Rat-a-tat-tat!

The onslaught didn’t stop. It was like facing a machine gun.

The ghost was shell-shocked. It was like D-Day at Omaha Beach, straight out of a war film—and it was definitely on the wrong side of the machine guns. It had never seen a pea this vicious.

What the hell even is this thing?!

You’re calling that a pea?! Who are you trying to fool?!

Elsewhere, Sun Qian and the others hadn’t run too far. When they looked back, they froze.

The terrifying ghost… was being pushed back? What the hell is that rapid-firing thing?!

Everyone stared, dumbfounded.

Even Su Yuening, who already knew a bit about Bai Wan’s ability, stood slack-jawed.

What firepower. That’s an upgraded peashooter—Gatling Pea?!

It can even upgrade?!

The Gatling Pea’s firepower was leagues above the standard version. Even this powerful ghost was being suppressed.

Face twisted in frustration, the ghost stopped trying to overpower the plant. It turned and charged straight at Bai Wan.

Unlike mindless entities, this one was smart. With years of haunting under its belt, it quickly realized: This human is the source. Kill him, and the plant dies too.

It lunged.

Bai Wan remained calm. He touched the sunflower again and, in the ghost’s astonished gaze, formed ninjutsu hand seals.

Swish! Swish! Shoosh! Shoo! Shoo!

Then slammed his hands to the ground and shouted:

“Earth Style: Great Wall of Wall-nuts!”

And instantly— three large, vacant-eyed wall-nut brothers appeared before the ghost, just like the night before.
