Chapter 33 - 33 33 Unexpected Encounter in the Forest

33: Chapter 33: Unexpected Encounter in the Forest 33: Chapter 33: Unexpected Encounter in the Forest The golden sunlight was radiating on the green leaves of the forest, the soft breeze wafting past made these broad leaves flutter against each other, producing a sound unique to the forest.

It was a wonderful day for opening doors, and a great day for traveling; if such fine weather and luck were to coincide, it would reflect the situation Villes found himself in.

In the forest, what should you do if you encounter a magical girl?

At that instant, it was as if Cupid’s arrow had shot through his heart; under the cover of green leaves, an unintentional glance revealed the sight before him.

A girl appearing before him was like suddenly encountering an elf from myth.

She wore a purple robe and had brown hair casually draped over her shoulders.

She seemed like a mercenary, resting in a small grassy area, while a small stream trickled by.

In stark contrast to this idyllic scene was a gruesome skeleton monster standing next to the girl.

This creature didn’t look like something one should trifle with.

This was Villes’ distress; the skeleton monster wasn’t something natural to this world, it could only have been summoned by magic.

Considering his own mediocre abilities, Villes was vividly aware of the power differential.

He knew he stood no chance against the magic this enchanting girl commanded.

The reason for this thinking was probably due to Villes’ predator instinct.

So young, yet wielding such profound power, if she was a member of the magic council, then wouldn’t he be forever overshadowed?

However, he wasn’t one to give up lightly; what’s the point of being a man if he didn’t try?

Even though he knew he didn’t have a chance, Villes was determined to make an effort!

He was aware that this venture outside of his family was not to find a wife, but if she was just a mercenary…

No one would refuse an invitation from a noble of the Glorious Noble.

Upon this thought, his hand subconsciously grazed over the brooch at his throat, standing a bit taller while reflecting on his family’s honor.

It could be a coincidence or it could be predestined; when Violet decided to leave Black Crow Castle alone and practice her magic in the forest.

A noble young man, like a posing peacock, leisurely emerged from the little path and the sunlight, filtering through the leaves, shone on the meadow.

Violet watched him, feeling a sudden bout of nausea, got up quickly, retreated a few steps, and positioned the skeleton monster between herself and him.

The mountain stream babbling, its sound only served to heightened the awkward tension between them.

“Excuse me, can I ask if Black Crow Castle is just ahead?” Villes asked, sensing the girl’s guarded stance but not knowing what he had done wrong.

To avoid being discovered trailing him, he had ridden into the forest, advancing along the edge of the forest where magical beasts roamed.

This area was home to only some not-so-fierce magical beasts, and occasionally there were mercenaries sighted.

His destination was the Black Crow Castle, a place that he did not want anyone to know or discover.

The ruling family of the castle, the Saki family, to which Villes belonged, had always owned the Black Crow Castle.

To be precise, in the territory of the empire, the Saki family was an ancient and dignified noble family that had always owned this land.

On this land, all ownerless items belong to the Saki family.

The mastermind behind the Bronze Shield was also them; their family castle hidden in the depths of the forest, the only path leading to the castle sealed by magic.

For the safety of the family members, they lived in seclusion in this forest, so secluded that they had been forgotten by the world.

Even the local governor appointed by the empire was unaware of this information.

His approach towards Violet was just an attempt to break the awkward silence.

The gray spires of Black Crow Castle were in plain sight, he just needed to continue down the lane to reach them.

Violet looked at him, his black tuxedo, his somewhat pale skin under the sunlight, and his crimson pupils in stark contrast.

Such features were unlike those of ordinary humans, only the Blood Clan, or vampires, would present such an appearance.

Finally, the incomprehensible nausea she was feeling found its root; it was Violet’s instinctual repulsion towards the vampire.

Although the Supreme Lord was the creator of all things in this world, there were some special entities that lived here.

They were not creations of God, and therefore were not subject to the cycle of rebirth.

At the moment, they looked liked humans, dressed in human clothing, their wings folded.

But the aura they emitted could not be concealed at all.

“Do not come over here,” she warned Villes as he calmly approached her and simultaneously retreated a few more steps.

She was genuinely worried that she might lose control of her strength, pick up the Crimson Spear, and turn this guy into a wasp hive.

This was not out of fear, but purely for the concern for Villes’ physical wellbeing.

But in his eyes, she must have appeared too aggressive!

He raised the corners of his mouth to reveal an embarrassed smile.

His sharp, silver teeth glinted on his light purple lips.

They were tools meant to tear open the shell of his prey.

Seeing this scene, Violet lost all control over her actions, instinctively pulling out her Crimson Spear.

The spear radiating a bloody aura aimed at Villes.

Although she was not armoured nor holding any artifact, the skeleton monster too raised its own experimental cross sword.

No one could have imagined the situation would escalate to this point, they both froze.

“I told you to stay still!” Violet cleverly chose to blame everything on Villes.

After all, it was true.

His every move had triggered Violet’s inherent combat intentions, this wouldn’t have happened otherwise.

Having a bloody weapon held against him would not make anyone comfortable, especially for a member of the Saki family.

The scent of blood seemingly held a deadly allure, causing Villes, the normally elegant individual, to lose his restraint entirely.

He covered his nose to prevent himself from succumbing to his bloodlust induced by the scent of blood.

Then he stepped back, increasing the distance between himself and Violet.
