Chapter 97: The Thalgrith Assault pt2

On the Ebonveil clan’s main planet, Umbravox, the Diaphane ship led by Commander Zyr-Vaelis had landed.

From it, countless Diaphanes, ranging from S Rank to Stellar Rank, with some at Nova Rank, were unleashing havoc, tearing apart the planet’s stationed army.

The devils were caught off guard, which cost them dearly. Under the assault of Zyr-Vaelis and other commanders, several Nova Rank devils were killed.

This caused significant problems.

Numerous devil ships were recalled to help quell the chaos the Diaphanes were sowing on the planet.

The devils had been caught so simply off guard due to a small mishap.

Another Thalgrith was wreaking havoc on this planet, but more silently than the other generals.

Moreover, they were not fighting Stellar Ranks. That would have been an insult to them, to who they once were.

The room held far fewer devils than before, a sign that everyone had scattered to face the threat of the attack their clan was enduring.

Lord Varkis, alongside other figures, was discussing how to handle the assault when a figure appeared suddenly.

"Huh? Who are you?" Lord Varkis shouted, staring at the woman’s figure.

"A devil? Yet, there’s something strange..." murmured another figure.

"How did she appear here so suddenly?! Her power is only Stellar Rank; something’s not right," said Lady Sylvara, assuming a battle stance, her eyes narrowing with a predatory glint that betrayed her rising unease.

The figure’s appearance, after all, was not so different from a devil’s. However, her aura bore no resemblance to theirs.

"Well, she does not seem eager to cooperate," said a devil with long, straight horns before charging at her. "Let’s capture her first, then ask our questions—"

But the stranger in the room merely smiled.

A smile that sent chills through everyone in the chamber.

Before the devil could reach her, the demonic figure snapped her fingers.

"Bye bye." The diabolical smile never left her face as she spoke those words.

Then, the devil charging at the Thalgrith froze.

His form became translucent, as if he no longer belonged to this space.

But this lasted only a moment before the devil vanished from sight.

"My master asked us to have fun... but I can not do that in this reality... you see, my power is too strong; sometimes it scares even me."

Her ethereal voice, mixed with her devilishly beautiful smile, captivated everyone, her presence radiating an otherworldly allure that seemed to bend the very air around her.

Lord Varkis could not react, entranced by it all. But he was not alone.

All the other Nova Rank devils in the room were stunned.

But who was this figure that dazed all the devils in the chamber?

Of course, it was none other than Yvanna, the only female among Jeremy’s generals.

The former empress of the Sariel empire.

Not only had she not lost her charm, but she had enhanced it through her fusion with a devil.

And her power grew accordingly.

Of course, it was not Yvanna’s charm itself that had stunned all the figures.

It was her ability. Every parallel reality had prominent figures and unique abilities; Yvanna, as the queen of every parallel reality, could borrow the power she preferred.

Simple and effective.

And so, with another snap of her fingers, all the figures in the room were sent to a parallel reality, banished forever from this world.

"Ah, far too easy..." she murmured with a melancholic smile as she approached the only figure still standing.

Lady Sylvara had a serious expression on her face. She was the only one left in the room, once brimming with life.

"Well, it’s obvious you’re not a devil... so who are you?"

Yvanna stopped smiling as she stared at Lady Sylvara. "Interesting... so, somehow, I can’t take you away like the others... is it because of your power? Or is there more to it?"

The Aberration spoke while circling Lady Sylvara, studying her, sniffing her, trying to discern something more about the woman.

"Hm... you carry a very potent scent... it’s because of it that you’re still here... my master warned us to be cautious of a certain being with incredible power..."

"...Eclipse Rank. Are you a special devil to that being?"

Yvanna continued talking, paying no attention to the devil woman.

On the other side, Lady Sylvara was too terrified to move. The figure studying her sent chills down her spine. It was not just her power that rendered the devil helpless; it was her presence.

"Hmph, when Overlord Zorathar arrives, you’ll all be dead meat. None of you will survive—"

Yvanna’s laughter cut off Lady Sylvara’s words.

"Hey, sweetheart. I’m already dead meat; I do not care." And with those words, a fist struck the air in front of the devil, obliterating all her possessions.

Everything on the devil’s body vanished, leaving her naked. Well, one thing survived the destruction. A small earring.

"So this is what makes you immune to death, huh?"

Blow after blow rained on Lady Sylvara like a storm, and after a few minutes of relentless assault, the earring lost its power.

"About time, now come with me, we’ll have fun..." And with that, Lady Sylvara was banished to the parallel reality.

Then, with a single step, Yvanna’s figure vanished. Now it was her turn to have fun...

---

On another planet, something was sowing chaos. No one could understand what it was.

It was slaughtering devils like livestock.

No one grasped what was happening.

No ship had reached this point; it was the farthest area from the war front, not for any particular reason, but simply because, at that moment, that planet was at the farthest point of its orbit.

After all, the five major planets, along with the smaller ones, orbited the Nexus. They were always in motion.

The planet in question was Duskend.

None of the devils here expected to face such an attack in so little time. Yet, that’s what happened.

Something incredibly small, eluding even the senses of Stellar Rank devils, was causing panic.

Devils kept dying, precisely one every second.

But not because the devils could resist for a whole second against the mysterious being, but only because this creature was taking it slow.

The Thalgrith in question was none other than Drae’mon. With his ability to shrink, the skeleton was having a blast.

Moreover, he had come to this planet alone. As the self-proclaimed leader of the Veydras generals, Drae’mon had his pride to uphold.

He did not want to share his fun with anyone. So, he chose the farthest planet.

By the time the others arrived, he would have already razed everything to the ground.

After all, no one could keep up with him.

Much of the credit went to his new Stellar Skill. It had nothing to do with his power or abilities but defined his combat style.

---

[Stellar Skill: Firstborn]

Your abilities are enhanced when you fight alone. The farther you are from your allies, the more powerful you become.

You were born to be the leader, the elder brother everyone looks up to with pride, but whom no one can hope to surpass.

---

Due to this mostly passive Skill, Drae’mon was forced to fight alone. Not that he minded. It had been a while since he fought properly.

His attack pattern hadn’t changed. His favorite combo was etched in his bones, literally, since he was just an F Rank.

Ferocious Bite and Poisonous Claw. That was in the past.

Now it was the same, but with vastly improved effects.

He didn’t even need poison or the bleeding effect. Enemies died at the first bite.

Yet, he still used the claw attack for the sheer pleasure of it.

He loved tearing devil bodies apart, his skeletal claws gleaming with a sinister azure glow as they ripped through flesh and bone.

"What’s happening, someone do something—"

"It’s a demon worse than us!" screamed another Stellar Rank devil before being overwhelmed.

Duskend trembled. Even Nova Ranks could do nothing against this being. And the worst part was that they weren’t even targeted.

Drae’mon was saving them for last, terrorizing their souls.

---

On the Azure ship, literally atop it, in open space, a cannon stood imposingly.

Its mere presence instilled fear in every being that gazed upon it, be they devil or Diaphane.

It was Gustav. His form no longer small as before. He had grown enormous, far larger than when he first appeared. After all, he was only an EX Rank back then.

Now he was a Stellar Rank, and his new Skill made him euphoric.

He nodded so vigorously that his barrel cracked the fabric of space itself. "Boom! Boom!" he chanted, firing Osseoth missiles at anything moving, each projectile trailing a blazing comet of azure energy that lit up the void like a dying star.

The minor planets and asteroids around Shadowcrux exploded one by one, reduced to dust. Each missile split, chasing Ebonveil ships with lethal precision.

Even the major planet, Shadowcrux, could only endure bombardment from these absurdly powerful missiles.

However, being a High-Level planet, the missiles couldn’t damage it too much.

"Luckily, our planet Shadowcrux has reached High Level, or it would have exploded after a dozen hits... Damn, we’re talking about an entire planet, not a ship!" declared a Nova Rank devil on Shadowcrux, constantly bombarded by Gustav.

"It’s terrifying... thank goodness it can’t destroy the planet, or we’d all be dead—"

Sadly, they were celebrating too soon.

Gustav’s Stellar Skill would spare no one.

"Gustav, do it. Unleash your power!" With Jeremy’s approval, Gustav began shaking his barrel with even more fervor before stopping to activate his new ability.
