Bone Alchemist: Necromancer of The Aberrations -
Chapter 88: Gustav The Aberration
Chapter 88: Gustav The Aberration
At the same moment, far from Azure, the diaphanous spaceship continued its movement. Inside, the commander observed a screen made of liquid light.
They wanted to peer into the planet’s interior to understand the forces present, its inhabitants, everything. And at first, they were succeeding.
What they saw sent a chill through the commander’s ethereal form.
A world filled with vibrant, brilliant colors, simple creatures moving within it.
"It’s all so... peaceful," said an operator inside the room.
"Peaceful?" the hooded figure spoke mentally, making the air vibrate. "I’d call it eerie."
The commander did not respond, continuing to manipulate their powers, moving the planet’s map as if playing a video game.
Then, a moment later, they saw something. An army.
Majestic creatures, their forms radiating raw, primal power, stood in disciplined ranks. Their bodies were cloaked in a faint, ominous aura, like storm clouds laced with lightning.
But it was not their strength alone that instilled fear—it was their sheer numbers. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps a million, stretched across the planet’s surface, an endless sea of identical warriors.
They all looked identical, as if crafted from the same mold.
And just as everyone stared at the map in shock, a veil of mist covered everything.
It seemed to shield everything from prying eyes.
"Have they sensed us?" asked one of the operators, whose form seemed to ripple like a glowing flag.
"More or less," the commander replied grimly. "The planet is sentient. A hybrid entity, both alive and artificial."
"Furthermore," they continued, "all of you saw that army. Whoever commands this planet is not weak. We must tread very carefully."
"Commander, should not we reveal ourselves? If they’ve detected us, it means their power is not weak. Besides, from what we’ve seen, these aren’t devils..."
"...and we do not hunt those who have not harmed us."
The hooded figure spoke, revealing their thoughts. Their race was, by nature, neutral. They did not actively seek conflict, but they would not shy away from one either. They weren’t weak, after all.
"What you say is true. However, we can not risk being seen. Let’s slow down—maybe they only sensed something strange, nothing more."
"Indeed," said one of the operators, "when has our commander’s ’distorted reality’ ever failed—"
SWOOSH—
BOOM—
But, as if they had spoken something ill-fated, a blinding light overwhelmed everyone inside the spaceship.
Then, with a roar that should not have manifested in the vacuum of space, everyone was stunned, unable to think.
---
"It’s your turn, Gustav!"
Jeremy’s voice was not loud. After all, he did not need to shout to summon his undead. He only needed his will.
At his words, something colossal materialized, dwarfing everything in the vicinity—even Jeremy’s newly built home seemed insignificant beside it. The ground quaked faintly under its immense weight, a tremor that echoed its arrival.
Gustav.
His name carried many implications.
Azure wasn’t surprised by the sight of his master’s new creation—after all, he already knew of it.
The same couldn’t be said for Cambela.
Her eyes widened, her mouth formed an "O," and her body trembled in shock.
"A—A cannon?!?"
Indeed, Jeremy’s new Aberration was something... unique. It didn’t have the typical form of a combatant, whether beast or humanoid. Its form was that of a weapon of war.
After all, it had been designed specifically to destroy distant targets.
"Allow me to introduce Gustav, the intergalactic war cannon. If SuperCannon can be considered the strongest for facing small-scale, incredibly fast-moving targets, Gustav is the opposite.
An Aberration capable only of long-range destruction. And its power is no less than that of the majestic wolf—in fact, it may be greater."
---
NAME: Gustav
RANK: EX
LEVEL: 299
RACE: Thalgrith Aberration Cannon
CLASS: Destroyer of Existence
POTENTIAL: PRIMORDIAL+
CONCEPT: Missile
Main Skills:
[Osseoth Missile]
---
[Osseoth Missile]
Creates a missile made of compressed Osseoth. Each missile has different capabilities depending on its intended use. You can load an unlimited number of missiles based on the size of your barrel.
---
Gustav was enormous. Its barrel alone measured at least a kilometer. It rested on a base with treads, allowing the cannon to be both mobile and stable.
Observing its master, Cambela, and Azure, Gustav moved its barrel up and down.
It was a gesture of greeting. Its personality seemed different from that of other Aberrations. It was genuinely happy and excited. Especially in this moment.
It knew it would use its powers for the first time in front of its master. It couldn’t afford to appear weak. It would do its utmost.
"It’s marvelous—" Cambela hopped around, circling the cannon, studying it. "When were you going to tell me about this creation, at your advancement to Stellar Rank?!"
"Well, there are many others," Jeremy replied with a small, amused smile. "You’ll discover them all in due time, naturally. But there are still some things I want to accomplish before advancing to Stellar Rank."
"Now, back to business—" he said, observing Gustav. Frankly, it seemed excessive to use such a creature to fire a "warning shot" at whatever was tailing them.
But Jeremy didn’t care.
No one should dare spy on them.
"Gustav, it’s your moment. Show me what you’re capable of. But be careful—hold back.
The shot needs to be strong enough to subdue them, but not destructive. I don’t want them dead."
Gustav stared at Jeremy for a second before nodding repeatedly with its barrel. It seemed a bit disappointed that it had to hold back, but it understood.
And so, turning toward the direction indicated by Azure, Gustav positioned itself.
The ground beneath their feet trembled for a moment, as if affirming the cannon’s weight, stabilizing itself to fire a precise, subduing but non-lethal shot.
And, without a doubt, it was capable of doing so.
However, Gustav... wasn’t just a cannon.
From its base, countless hatches opened.
From them, dozens of large creatures emerged in synchronized fashion, carrying on their shoulders what appeared to be a missile.
A single missile, one hundred meters in size.
Gustav didn’t fire simple energy blasts. Its missiles were made of pure Osseoth essence, enhanced to the limits of compactness to prevent disintegration at the speed and power of launch.
After all, there wasn’t enough energy to bring destruction to a planet—not at this level.
One would need at least Stellar Rank to have that capability.
Moreover, Gustav’s missiles were crafted on the spot, tailored to the shot’s purpose.
For instance, in this case, the missile wasn’t massive, but it served its purpose. Numerous runic symbols adorned it, giving the missile a peculiar appearance.
Once the missile was loaded, all that remained was to take aim.
A few seconds later, the direction was precisely calculated.
However, Gustav had no intention of sinking the spaceship, so it adjusted its attack slightly, enough to be felt but not lethal.
After a few more seconds of calibration, Gustav was ready. Countless flames shot upward as the barrel charged with explosive power.
A few seconds later...
"Gustav, fire!"
A beam of light and a slight tremor were all they felt as the missile left the barrel.
Space, mute and indifferent, lit up.
The missile tore from Gustav’s barrel at a velocity that seemed to defy the laws of physics, a streak of light that outpaced even the stars.
The missile struck precisely two kilometers from the spaceship.
"There they are—" Azure said, displaying his screen to everyone.
The moment the shot reached its target, the distorted reality concealing the spaceship shattered.
---
Panic gripped the diaphanous spaceship’s interior, the air thick with the acrid scent of scorched crystal.
Every creature reeled, their translucent forms flickering wildly from the shot’s overwhelming force.
Their spaceship, traveling at high speed, veered off course, drifting.
Parts of the ship’s structure were destroyed, but this only altered its form and framework.
It seemed alive, capable of adapting to any change.
At the heart of the ship, the commander slowly stood, regaining composure. Their form wavered, shifting in shape and size, visibly destabilized.
"...that shot was a warning!" they said, more to themselves than to the others.
Their distortion ability, which had made them so confident in exploiting the situation to strike at the devils, had collapsed just like that, against an undefined adversary.
Another operator, still dazed, stammered, "The distortion has broken... now they can see us."
The commander nodded grimly.
Then, the hooded figure spoke.
"We have no choice but to leave. After all, the shot was only a warning. If they had wanted to harm us, we would not be here now."
The commander remained silent. They had been arrogant. They would never make the same mistake again.
The ship’s lights began to shift in hue. The lights inside the room turned red, the color of surrender. They had been defeated, and the other side’s intentions were clear.
Do not come closer.
"We’re no longer observers—we’ve been discovered. It’s time to leave... before the next shot is not a warning."
---
"The spaceship belongs to them—it’s the Diaphanes!" Cambela said with a serious voice.
"They’re retreating," Azure murmured. "Their presence... is fading."
"Huh? Then they did not understand a thing. That was not a shot to drive them away—it was a shot to make them kneel before us. If they did not get it the first time, let’s try again."
A more sinister smile spread across Jeremy’s face.
"Gustav, use more power this time. I want them to kneel before us."
Gustav nodded repeatedly with its barrel. In truth, it was very angry. It had not achieved its master’s goal.
It was truly furious with its enemies.
This time, it would make a bang. No misunderstandings. It would make them understand its intentions.
