Chapter 89: AQUA BOLT ESCAPED

{"Be where your enemy is not"}

TOR’S POV

We spent nearly five hours searching for Aqua and Fennel, only for the trail to end near Sagstone Mountain. They hadn’t taken the water router—the boat was still docked in the harbor. That was when we found Rou in his beast form, pacing anxiously by the beach. The moment he spotted us, he shifted back, surprising both Flora and General Tiger.

"They took a slip route to Sagstone Mountain," he said hurriedly. "They’ve been gone for the past three hours."

I nodded, taking in his words before turning to the rest of the search party. "Stop the search. We’re returning to Bay Shifter lands."

Rou’s eyes widened. As I moved closer to him, I said firmly, "It would be best if we went with you."

He shook his head. "I need to stay here in case anything happens. But I’ll come to Bay Shifter lands in the morning."

I studied him for a moment, then gave a nod. Without another word, I turned and followed the rest of the group home.

By the time I ate, showered, and got into bed, exhaustion weighed heavily on me. I missed Tor so much. The last memory before sleep claimed me was of us—kissing, holding each other before we parted.

Dreams and visions flooded my mind, swirling in chaotic fragments until a loud voice boomed through my head.

"Tor Gale, you need to get to Sagstone Mountain and protect the Rogourau before they go extinct."

My body trembled. The sheer force of the voice startled me so much that I jolted upright, my heart hammering against my ribs. Gasping for breath, I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the lingering weight of the dream.

"What the hell was that?" I muttered aloud; my voice rough with sleep.

Gale, my beast, stirred anxiously within me. The power of that voice... he rumbled. It felt like Sagstone Mountain itself was speaking. It echoed through our thoughts—strong, ancient.

I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, my feet hitting the cold floor. Still shaken, I pushed myself up and walked to the balcony, stepping into the crisp morning air. The sky was shifting, deep blues fading into soft orange as dawn approached. I leaned against the railing, staring out as the first rays of sunlight crept over the horizon. Closing my eyes, I inhaled deeply, letting the warmth of the rising sun sink into my skin.

A deep, rumbling tremor shook the ground beneath me, jolting me awake. My eyes snapped open, and I shot to my feet, listening intently. A familiar presence prickled at my senses, the Rogourau were close.

I cursed under my breath. Damn it, Rou. He was making an entrance, and at this rate, he was about to wake the entire Bay Shifter pack into a shocking morning.

Wasting no time, I rushed back into my bedroom, took the fastest shower possible, and was out of the house within minutes. As I moved toward the training grounds, Spark and Wave flanked me, their expressions filled with curiosity. Behind us, General Tiger and Commander Flora followed, their gazes sharp as the Bay Shifter pack members assembled, waiting.

Then, Rou appeared.

Gasps filled the air. The guards, the general, everyone, stood frozen, jaws slack. None of them had ever seen the Rogourau up close. Rou wasn’t alone. He was flanked by two smaller beasts, their hulking forms radiating raw power. They strode into the center of the training ground, filling the space with an undeniable presence.

Then, in a seamless shift, they transformed. Rou stood in human form once more, and beside him was a young man who bore a striking resemblance to him. His sharp features and steady gaze marked him as a force of his own. Beside them, a woman stood tall, her piercing eyes scanning the gathered shifters with quiet menace. There was no mistaking it—she was a warrior, ready to strike at the slightest provocation.

The tension in the air was thick. I took a slow step forward, meeting Rou’s gaze.

I took a deep breath, stepping forward to address Rou and his people.

"Welcome to the Bay Shifter Pack, Rou. I am honored to have you here." My voice was steady, carrying across the silent gathering. "I want to sincerely apologize for everything that happened in the past. I was unaware of the greed within my ranks, and I deeply regret how you were mistreated. You are one of our own, and you have our respect." I met his gaze, unwavering. "As Alpha of the Bay Shifter Pack, I offer my apologies. The Rogourau are a part of the shifter realm, drawing strength from the Moon Goddess just as we do."

A pin drop silence followed.

The female Rogourau beside Rou parted her lips as if to speak, but he turned to her sharply. She hesitated, seemingly understanding his silent warning. With a quiet huff, she closed her mouth and looked away, her posture tense but restrained.

Rou then turned back to me; his voice filled with quiet pride.

"Alpha Tor Gale, thank you for the warm welcome. Our kind has always coexisted peacefully, protecting Sagstone Mountain. But in recent years, some members of the Bay Shifter Pack took advantage of the situation. Our people suffered." He exhaled, shoulders relaxing slightly. "I’m glad you came to Sagstone and handled the matter yourself. The guards are back at the border, and my family is finally where it belongs. I only hope no one interferes again—our kinds have endured enough."

General Tiger stepped forward, his stance firm. "The border guards have been settled, and the Rogourau food supply has been restored. No one will threaten your people again."

Rou gave a small nod. "Thank you, General Tiger." Then, he gestured to the young man beside him. "This is my son, Ralph." The resemblance was undeniable—sharp eyes, the same quiet intensity. Rou then turned to the female warrior, whose hard gaze swept over the crowd. "And this is Rita, our General."

I barely had time to process before Flora leaned in, her voice a low whisper. "I doubt anyone would dare marry such a fierce woman."

General Tiger chuckled, crossing his arms. "I think she’s incredible."

Rita scoffed, rolling her eyes, but I didn’t miss the slight smirk on Rou’s lips. The tension in the air had shifted, not gone, but lighter now. A step toward something better.

Hours later, we gathered for a feast with the Bay Shifter council members. Elder Mercury Bolt, Blossom Sky, Elder Crystal Astor, and Lily Crest joined us, their presence adding a weight of authority to the gathering. Despite the murmurs around us, Rou and I remained the center of attention, our conversation drawing the silent focus of those present.

After lunch, we moved to the pack’s conference room, where I laid out our findings. The air shifted instantly. Blossom and Lily’s eyes widened in shock, while Mercury and Crystal’s expressions darkened. A low growl rumbled from Crystal’s chest as she slammed a fist against the table, her fury palpable.

"This is too much," she seethed. "The Bay Shifter Pack is not a place for anyone to manipulate or use our shifters for their gain. We cannot allow this to continue."

Mercury nodded; his gaze steely. "We must take down every threat that dares to undermine our existence."

A small smile played on Rita’s lips before she nodded. "It’s settled," she said. "We’ll go together, track their location, and send word back to the Bay Shifter Pack."

Ralph gave a firm nod beside her, his stance radiating readiness. I watched them both, sensing the energy shift, determination replacing tension. This mission wasn’t just about finding Aqua and Fennel; it was about proving their strength, their loyalty, and their place in this alliance.

I exhaled slowly, feeling the weight of what was to come. "Then let’s not waste any time," I said, my voice steady." One more thing, I will be waiting for words from Paradise Coven so that we can have the evidence that we require on who is the mastermind of this evil plan, and what exactly they are after"

"That old woman Althea would be able to tell us and I bet she is still hiding deep in the caves" Rou cursed.

"Althea Gale?" Both Mercury and Crystal yelled in shock.
