Chapter 83: BACK IN PARADISE COVEN CITY

{"Parting ways is never easy."}

FREYR’S POV

Elder Dante stood at the border of the Kayne lands; his sharp gaze locked onto me the moment I arrived. I smirked, already knowing he had been hovering here for some time, silently protecting our home as he always did.

He stared at me for two long seconds, his expression unreadable. It was only then that I realized I hadn’t shifted back from my disguise.

A deep laugh burst from my chest, the sound echoing through the trees as I let the magic unravel. Shadows peeled away from my form, shifting and twisting until I stood in my true self. With a smirk, I raised a brow at Dante. "So... what do you think?"

Dante’s laughter rumbled in response, rich with amusement. He took a step closer, eyes gleaming. "Not bad," he teased.

I gave him a knowing nod before lowering the heavy wrapper sack onto the ground. His gaze flickered to it, curiosity flashing across his face.

"What’s this?" he asked, pointing at the bundle.

"Triplets," I explained, rolling my shoulders as the weight of the journey settled into my bones. "Shifters. They were bitten and turned into vampires. They’ll awaken soon, and trust me, it’s better if they do so in Paradise Coven rather than the Bay Shifter Pack."

Dante exhaled through his nose, his amusement fading into something more serious. He nodded in understanding, then raised his hand in a silent command.

At once, guards emerged from the thick brush surrounding us, their movements swift and precise. They rushed forward, lifting the sack with practiced efficiency before turning toward the path leading to the house. Without another word, we followed.

The moment we stepped onto the familiar grounds, a subtle shift in the air told me one thing—Ma had sensed my presence.

The door swung open before I could even reach for it, and standing in the foyer was Qadira.

The second her eyes landed on me, she gasped and bolted forward, throwing herself into my arms. I caught her with ease, wrapping an arm around her as she clung to me. A low rumble escaped her, the sound vibrating against my chest.

"I missed you," she murmured against my shoulder.

I chuckled, patting her back. "I hope you haven’t caused me trouble in my absence."

Qadira pulled back just enough to flash me a mischievous grin. "Define trouble. "Qadira and I ended our embrace, and the moment her feet touched the ground, she turned and moved toward Dante. Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around him, squeezing tightly.

"You’ve been hiding in the forest for too long," she scolded, her voice laced with affection.

Dante let out a deep, hearty laugh and ruffled her hair in response. "Someone had to make sure you all didn’t get into trouble," he teased.

Before Qadira could retort, her eyes drifted past him, curiosity sparking in their depths. But before any of us could say anything, Ma’s voice rang from inside the house.

"Are you all going to stand outside the door yelling all the time?"

We chuckled in unison, and Dante shook his head before motioning to the guards. "Take them inside."

The guards carried the sack into the house, moving with silent efficiency, and we followed closely behind. Once inside, they placed the bodies at the center of the room before stepping back and exiting. Dante turned, closing the door behind them.

I walked straight to Ma, embracing her tightly, breathing in the familiar scent of home. Her presence was grounding, firm, unwavering.

Aurora and Nesa stood near the windows; their gazes filled with warmth as they approached. When I pulled back from Ma, I stepped toward them, placing an arm around each of their shoulders.

"Have you all been well?" I asked, my voice steady, though my gaze flickered between them, searching for any signs of distress.

Aurora and Nesa nodded in unison, and Aurora spoke first. "We’ve been well."

"And thank you," she added softly, her eyes glistening with sincerity. "For protecting me."

I smiled at her, seeing the strength that had returned to her. "You’ve gained your old self back," I said, giving her shoulder a light squeeze. "And I’m glad to see you getting better."

Before she could respond, a knock sounded at the door. I raised an eyebrow, glancing toward Qadira, but she only chuckled and dashed forward, yanking it open without hesitation.

Two familiar figures stepped inside. Aurora and Nesa’s fathers, Agrey and Amon.

Ma smiled in welcome, while Dante simply nodded in acknowledgment. The two men strode forward, their eyes locked onto me with an expression of gratitude that went beyond words.

"It’s good to see you, Freyr," Aggrey said with a firm nod.

Amon stepped closer, his hand resting on my shoulder, his grip strong and filled with emotion. "Oh, Freyr," he said, his voice thick with gratitude. "I owe you my daughter’s life. Thank you for saving her."

I met his gaze, feeling the weight of his words settle deep within me. "She fought to survive," I replied honestly. "I only did what needed to be done." Amon’s eyes softened, and he gave my shoulder a firm squeeze before finally stepping back. I exhaled slowly, knowing that this was only the beginning of what needed to be discussed.

"What is this?" Qadira asked impatiently, her arms crossed as she stared at the large wrapper sack on the floor.

I stepped closer, my voice calm but firm. "These are shifter beasts that have been transformed into vampires," I explained. "They’re from the combat family—triplets. I suggested to Tor that we bring them here to Paradise Coven before they could cause harm to the Bay Shifter pack."

Ma nodded in understanding; her expression unreadable but knowing. Without a word, she turned to Dante and signaled him to take the sack. Dante obeyed immediately, lifting the heavy bundle with ease before following Ma deeper into the house.

As they disappeared into the corridor, Nesa spoke up, her brow furrowed with curiosity. "Where are they taking them?"

Qadira glanced at her before answering. "The Kayne home has a bunker," she explained. "They’ll be safe there, protected. When they wake, Ma will guide them through their transition into vampires, nurturing them until they fully awaken."

"Good," Amon muttered, nodding in approval as he took a seat.

I let out a slow breath, feeling the weight of the moment settle in. There was nothing more to do now but wait. So, one by one, we all took our seats, the air thick with unspoken thoughts, anticipation lingering like a shadow over the room.

Ma walked back into the room with Dante beside her, both settling onto the couch. Their expressions were unreadable, but I knew they were waiting for an explanation. I took a deep breath before speaking.

"I’ll start from the beginning," I said, my voice steady. "When I arrived at Bay Shifter lands, I used a disguise to move unnoticed. But what I found there was worse than I expected. There were vampire stone bugs, clusters of them. That led me to Sagstone Mountain, where I followed their trail to the beach. And that’s where I discovered the nest."

The room fell into a stunned silence as I continued. "Fennel Cobalt and his niece, Aqua, have been breeding them. They built a nest of blood stone bugs, and—" I paused for emphasis, meeting Ma’s gaze before dropping the final revelation. "There’s a queen. She’s breeding an entire army."

A heavy silence blanketed the room as everyone absorbed the weight of my words. Then Aurora, her voice filled with shock and awe, broke it. "Rogourau?"

I gave a single nod. "Yes. The shifter beasts—the ones that guard the mountains. They’ve been hiding deep within Sagstone Mountain for years."

Aurora whispered, more to herself than to me, "I thought it was a myth. Cassius once mumbled something about needing the blood of the Rogourau... to infuse into the blood stone bugs..." She swallowed hard. "To create a hybrid beast. One that would be unstoppable."

The air in the room grew thick with tension. My jaw tightened at the realization of what we were truly dealing with. A hybrid beast, formed from the blood of the Rogourau and the bloodstone bugs, would be unlike anything we had ever faced.

Ma’s curse still lingered in the air when Dante stood abruptly, his body rigid with fury. His hiss of frustration cut through the tense silence. "This is too much," he seethed. "How can people be so vile? So greedy?"

Amon’s brows furrowed deeply as he turned to me, his expression dark with thought. "Then tell me, Freyr, if Aqua and Fennel already exist as hybrids, why is Lord Marcel still so interested in the Lycan at Bay Shifter Pack?"

Before I could answer, Aurora did. Her voice was barely above a whisper, but it carried enough weight to send a chill down my spine. "Because he wants the Lycan power to complete his transformation... into an Alpha Hybrid."

A cold silence stretched between us. Ma pressed a hand to her forehead, exhaling sharply, while Dante’s fury only grew. He began pacing, running a hand through his hair.

"That bastard," he muttered. "We have to put an end to this before it’s too late."

It was Aggrey who finally broke through the mounting tension. "Then cutting off the nest is the best course of action. If we destroy it, we cripple his army before it grows any stronger."

I nodded, but my mind raced with the obstacles ahead. "The problem is, the Coven Council has already planned to make a trip to the Blood Stone Mountain," I said grimly. "But by the time they arrive, Lord Marcel will have already hidden or moved the nest. He’ll see it coming."

Dante stopped pacing and turned to me, his eyes sharp with sudden clarity. "Unless we go in before the official trip," he said slowly. "Find the evidence we need. Secure it. Then, when the Council arrives, we pretend to act as if we’re discovering it for the first time."

A small smirk ghosted my lips. "He would think he has fooled us," I murmured. "But in reality, we would have already succeeded." Dante gave a firm nod, and I could see the plan solidifying in his mind as well. It was a dangerous gamble, but it was our best chance. And I had no intention of letting Lord Marcel win.
