Chapter 49: TAKE THEM DOWN
Chapter 49: TAKE THEM DOWN
{" People are afraid of things they don’t understand. They don’t know how to relate. It threatens their security and their existence."}
I stared at Elder Cobalt for a long, silent minute. His face remained unreadable, but I could sense the tension coiling beneath his composed exterior. His emotions made me step forward. Power surged from me as my Lycan Alpha dominance rippled through the room, pressing down on him with an unyielding force. For a moment, he tried to resist and stand his ground.
Then Gale rose. My Lycan beast growled deep, and Elder Cobalt’s wolf whimpered in response. His body trembled, his legs giving way beneath him, and finally, he lowered himself to one knee, bowing before me.
My eyes blazed as I loomed over him, my voice a sharp growl.
"Confess. Confess everything about what you have been doing." I let the command settle, my words laced with pure authority. "Tell me what the hell is going on between the Paradise Coven traitors and the Bay Shifter Pack."
Silence. He said nothing and my patience snapped.
I grabbed his throat. He gasped, his hands flying up as my grip tightened. His eyes widened in shock as I lifted him slightly off the ground, his feet barely touching the floor. My hands shifted.
A slow, agonizing transformation. My claws elongated, sharp, and deadly. Gale surged to the surface, and without hesitation, I drove my claws into his neck. A strangled gasp left his lips.
Blood trickled down, staining the collar of his robe.
General Steel stammered. "Alpha, please, calm down—"
But I was beyond reason. The mere thought that this man had tried to manipulate me, that he had planned to use his daughter to control me, that he had colluded with the Paradise Coven, I tightened my grip. Elder Cobalt choked, his hands clawing at mine as he rasped, "Alpha—spare me!"
I bared my fangs. "Then speak."
His body trembled; his face contorted in pain. "I will confess," he gasped out.
I eased my grip slightly, just enough for him to force out the words between heavy, ragged breaths.
"Your Lycan wolf... is dangerous."
I stilled. His voice was hoarse, his words tumbling out in a desperate rush. "It was prophesied that your wolf would bring disaster to the realm. The only way to prevent that was to" he coughed, his throat raw, "infuse it with a bloodstone."
For a second, silence reigned. Then, I laughed a low, menacing chuckle. I released him. His body hit the ground, hard. He coughed violently, gasping for air as his trembling hands rose to rub his bruised neck. I shook my head, a smirk curling on my lips. "You believed that garbage?"
He flinched.
"All because those monsters feared what they couldn’t control?" My voice dropped lower, more dangerous. "Because they feared someone stronger than them?"
He didn’t answer. I crouched down slightly, just enough to meet his gaze. "They wanted the Bay Shifter Pack to live in fear so they could hold power over us. And you? You were stupid enough to believe them."
Elder Cobalt’s face twisted with something between shame and desperation. I stood to my full height, letting my voice cut through the air like a blade.
"I will kill anyone who believes this nonsense about Gale being a danger to the bay sifter pack." let the words settle. "Even if they are my own family." A tense silence followed. I raised my head, glancing around. General Steel stood still, his gaze lowered to the ground, but his hands were clenched into fists at his sides. Good. He understood. I turned my back to them."This is my last warning and I am giving you time, before the meeting with the General I expect a detailed report of your betrayal, or else I will wipe out the Colbat family "And without another word, I walked out of the room, Spark and Wave right behind me.
Back in my office, I punched the wall in frustration. A loud crack echoed through the room. The force sent tremors through the walls, rattling the shelves and shaking the very foundation of the space. Gale rumbled inside me, restless, furious.
Spark and Wave stood still, watching. They knew better than to speak when I was like this—waiting instead, like the trained warriors they were, for my next move or command.
How dare they? How dare they believe I would harm my pack? How dare they fabricate such utter nonsense just to keep control over the Bay Shifter Pack? How many Generals had been compromised? Was the Bay Shifter Pack even safe anymore? A growl tore from my throat as I turned sharply, stalking toward the massive window that overlooked the city. I placed both hands on the frame, staring down at the streets below. From up here, the packed city looked peaceful. Orderly. Untouched by the filth of betrayal that had seeped into its core.
But I knew better. Silence settled in the office.
Then, Spark finally spoke, his voice measured but firm. "We finally know the truth. Now, we take every precaution necessary. We need to plan on how to take them down and foil their plans so that we keep the pack safe "
I turned to face them."Aqua wasn’t just compromised," I said, voice low but full of dark certainty. "She had two vampire mind-controlling bugs in her mind."
Both Spark and Wave stiffened, their eyes widening in shock.
"What?!" they yelled in unison.
I exhaled sharply. "And instead of the bugs controlling her wolf... she was the one controlling them. Her wolf was controlling the bugs and the evil planted in her mind. "
A chilling silence followed.
"She infused them into her mind link," I continued, pacing slowly. "Instead of being a victim, she was the one using them. The level of control, the sheer evil in her—" I exhaled, shaking my head. "Even Gale was staggered when he realized what she had done."
Wave clenched his fists. "That’s not just treachery. That’s—"
"A declaration of war," Spark finished grimly.
I nodded."That’s why I had her locked up." I folded my arms over my chest. "I needed time"
Wave narrowed his eyes. "Time for what?"
"Time to go to Hanka Island," I revealed. "I need to meet Freyr."
Spark stiffened. "Freyr? You think he knows something?"
I nodded. "If anyone can help me piece this together, it’s him. There’s more at play here, and we need to draw out the true mastermind behind this plan before it’s too late."
After making plans with Wave and Gale, I congratulated them once again as I gave them my blessing on their mating and they blushed Wave chuckled and stated that Spark took too long to make up his mind and thanked him for giving him a push. I nodded at wave and placed a hand on his shoulder and stated that I was proud to have him as a member of the family. He grinned like a fool while Spark rubbed the back of his neck and I left the office for Hanka Island.
I met Deputy General Tiger along the way and I knew he must have his concerns and decided to share them with me privately. I beckoned him to follow me as moved to the edge of the forest and then took the east root and arrived at the waterfall and we stood watching the sky as dusk set it.
"Alpha, I know that today you discovered much more than you let on " Tiger spoke up and I nodded and informed him about Aqua his face turned thunderous and he asked what was the plan and how I was going to deal with her. I confessed that this was something I had not anticipated and chose to seek council from Frery Kane. He nodded and agreed that he would be the best person to tell us how to handle the bug and the source of it. How it controlled one mind and why it had a different effect on Aqua and Rowan. We parted way and Tiger insisted he wanted to remain in the forest on guard as I moved towards the caves as I made way to Hanka Island.
I moved quietly through the forest, my mind still buzzing with everything I had learned today. There was so much to process, but right now, all that mattered was getting to Freyr and making sure we were ready for whatever lay ahead. As I neared the cave, the familiar scent of the sea and moss filled the air, grounding me in the present.
When I stepped into the clearing, I saw the blankets laid out, the evening light casting a soft glow over the space. My eyes immediately found Freyr a minute later. He was standing near the entrance, his silhouette framed by the last bits of daylight. He looked stunning. I couldn’t help but admit it to myself. His presence was commanding in the most subtle of ways, and tonight, it felt almost as though the entire world had slowed down, just so I could take him in.
I couldn’t help it.
"You look stunning," I found myself saying before I could stop the words from tumbling out. It was that was needed as Freyr rushed over and we embraced with all the emotions that surrounded us and then in unison, we sealed our lips together as one.
