Chapter 264: INTO RAGAR MOUNTAIN HAVEN

{"In the folds of the mountain’s mist, magic breathes, and time forgets its name."}

The path to Ragar Mountain was an ancient one, untouched by time, known only to the oldest bloodlines of the Bay Shifter Pack. Freyr walked beside me, his fingers brushing mine as the wind howled softly through the narrow gorge. The air here was thinner, laced with the primal scent of earth and stone wild and reverent.

We did not speak much as we climbed. Words felt too small, too mortal for what waited ahead.

The peak of Ragar loomed like a sleeping giant, crowned in mist. And there, carved into the belly of the mountain itself, stood the obsidian archway, jagged, immense, breathing power. As we approached, the runes lining the stone flickered with a soft silvery-blue light, recognizing my bloodline. Then the air shifted.

A tall figure stepped from the shadows, draped in the ceremonial leathers of the Guardian caste. His hair was long, streaked with age and power, and his amber eyes studied Freyr and us with unsettling clarity.

"Alpha Tor," he said, bowing his head low. "You return, as your father once did."

I inclined my head. "Guardian Rhaos."

His gaze shifted to Freyr. "And this... is the mate you bring?"

Freyr stood still, but I felt the tension in his hand as it rested against mine. He did not flinch under Rhaos’s scrutiny, did not lower his eyes. The vampire in him did not kneel to ancient wolf magic. It stood proudly beside it. I answered, "This is Freyr Kayne of the Paradise Bay Coven. Son of Sierra and Dunco Kayne. He is my mate. My equal."

There was a beat of silence, the air around us vibrating as if the mountain itself was listening.

"The ancestors await. The Haven Chambers have opened for the first time in seventy years. You are to be judged... and blessed if the bond is true."

Freyr’s jaw tightened, but he gave a small nod. We stepped past the threshold together.

The darkness inside was absolute at first, like stepping into a memory buried too deep. Then the chamber lit slowly, not with fire, but with memory. The walls shimmered with the forms of Lycans past, shifting, moving, watching. A spectral pack made of starlight and echo.

A low voice, ancient and endless, drifted from the far end of the chamber.

"Who comes before the Haven?"

I stepped forward. "I am Alpha Tor of the Bay Shifter Pack. Son of Ardan. Mate to Freyr Kayne."

The chamber pulsed. The ground beneath us hummed, "Welcome Bay Shifter Alpha Tor."

Then light engulfed the space between us, warm and searing. I could feel it deep in my bones’ old approval, older than any council or crown. Freyr gasped as the light touched him. The Haven Chambers pulsed with ancient power the moment Tor and I stepped through its threshold. The air was different here, dense, alive, humming with the breath of spirits long passed but never gone. A circle of wolf spirits emerged from the shadows, their forms shifting between beast and warrior, eyes glowing like stars in the dark. They surrounded us not with menace, but with curiosity. An air of ceremony cloaked the space.

Then everything stilled, and a light bloomed at the far end of the chamber, silver and fluid, cascading like liquid moonlight. It coalesced into a figure, tall and graceful, her presence sending a tremor through the ground beneath our feet. The Moon Goddess stood, and her eyes found mine, and I felt my breath hitch. She was radiant and terrible and tender all at once, as if time and eternity had taken on a shape. "Freyr Kayne," she said, voice like wind and river. "And Tor, Alpha of the Bay Shifter Pack. Welcome, my beloved children."

We both dropped to one knee in instinctive reverence, though I felt her power brush gently against my shoulder, urging me to rise. "You have been bound by blood and by fate," she said, stepping forward, her voice carrying through the vast chamber like a song. "The bond you share is ancient. Chosen. But not without purpose."

Tor’s fingers laced with mine, grounding me as she spoke. "When the Omega Sanctuary awakened," the Moon Goddess continued, her expression darkening, "it stirred something old... and dangerous. A force that was meant to remain sealed rose and sensed the power that lives within the Omega wolves.

A chill crept down my spine. "What kind of force?" I asked.

She raised her eyes to the ceiling, where the stone above seemed to shimmer like water. "A threat born of shadow, hiding in the fractured edges of this realm. It seeks the power of the Omega wolves and their unborn pups and beyond it, the collapse of balance across all shifter and vampire kin."

Silence settled like dust. "You must seal it," she said. "All of it. Before it grows."

Tor straightened beside me. "How?"

The Moon Goddess turned, her silver hair trailing like mist behind her. "You must go to Sagstone Mountain. Deep within lies the Hidden Pool of the first Omega wolf Fenrith. Now that Wave is the Guardian of the Omega, he must have shown himself to Wave. Only there will you find the truth of this threat and the power to stop it."

I swallowed. The name sent a ripple through my blood, like some ancient memory just out of reach. "Few have seen the Omega wolf and returned unchanged," she warned. "But he is wise beyond time, and if he deems you worthy... he will give you what you need to protect your people. "She stepped closer, her gaze softening as it fell on us both. "Together, you are stronger than any force that would seek to tear this realm apart. Take Wave and Spark with you. A faint wind stirred, though no air moved in the chamber. "I will guide you as far as I can," she said. "But this path is yours to walk."

The spirits bowed their heads, and then Tor looked to me, his jaw tense, his eyes clear. "Then we’ll go."

I nodded, heart pounding with purpose and dread. "Together."

The Moon Goddess smiled, and as her form dissolved into silver mist, her final words lingered in the stillness: "Let love be your strength, and unity your shield. The realm depends on it. You succeeded once, I bet you will succeed again."

The journey down Ragar Mountain was quiet. Tor kept close to me, his silence not out of fear but heavy thought. I could feel his mind racing beside mine, the weight of the Moon Goddess’s message pressing into our bones like the cold mist of the highland trail. We did not speak—did not need to. Our bond thrummed with mutual understanding: what we had learned was not only sacred, but dangerous if it fell into the wrong ears.

By the time we returned to Bay Shifter lands, the sun had sunk low in the sky, dyeing the horizon with shades of blood and gold. We moved quickly, cloaked by the coming dark, and entered through the side paths of the manor to avoid unnecessary attention.

Wave and Spark were waiting in the private chamber behind the royal gardens and hidden from the naked eye.

"Lock it," Tor said. Spark flicked his fingers. The ironwood door sealed with a soft click, and the faint shimmer of a ward settled across the room.

Wave’s eyes narrowed immediately. "What did you find?"

I stepped forward, heart still beating fast from the memory of the Moon Goddess’s warning. "The Omega Sanctuary did more than awaken the bloodlines," I said. "It stirred something. Something that is ancient and was just waiting for the awakening.

Tor took over from there, his tone low and clipped, a military edge in his words. "The Moon Goddess met us herself. She said a threat was rising—something that should have remained sealed in the dark corners of the realm."

Spark leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his sharp gaze focused and unreadable. "You’re saying it wasn’t just Blood Stone Mountain?"

Wave’s voice was quieter, more thoughtful. "Then what comes next?"

We need to venture deep into Sagstone Mountain and seek the Hidden Pool of the Omega first Omega Wolf. He is the only one who might have the knowledge or power to help seal what has been unleashed."

A long silence fell over the room.

Spark’s jaw tightened. "If you are going there, you will need eyes behind you. Sagstone is not just dangerous, it is cursed. That mountain eats secrets and bleeds lies."

Wave turned to me, concern flickering in his usually calm features. "Does the pack know?"

Tor shook his head. "No. And it must stay that way for now. If panic spreads, it will weaken morale. We need unity, especially if whatever is stirring decides to strike while we are distracted."

Spark was the first to speak after the silence settled thick between us.

"If you’re going to Sagstone," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument, "you won’t go alone."

I blinked, caught off guard. "Spark—"

Wave stepped forward, his expression calm but resolute. "He is right. You will need more than strength to survive what sleeps inside that mountain. And besides..." He exhaled, eyes distant. "I’ve already been summoned."

I turned to him, brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"

Wave met my gaze. "After you and Tor left for Ragar, I visited the Omega Sanctuary again. Something pulled me in... deeper this time. And there, in the pool of the moonlight, I saw him."

Tor’s body stiffened beside me. "Who?"

Wave’s voice dropped to a whisper. "The First Omega Wolf. Fenrith."

A sharp chill ran down my spine at the name. I had heard it only in ancient texts, whispered in songs too old for even our coven elders to remember clearly. Fenrith, the Omega-born of the first Moon, who disappeared into shadow after sealing the Rift Wars.

"He spoke to me," Wave continued. "He said the mountain was waiting. That the pool you are to seek is not just for counsel, it is for awakening. And that when the time comes, only those bound by the blood of the Moon, the Fang, and the Flame can survive the trial."

"The blood of the Moon... that’s you," I murmured, glancing at Tor, who was watching Wave like he was trying to memorize every word. "The Fang... me."

Spark stepped forward and gently took Wave’s hand. "And the Flame is us."

I looked between them. "You’ve both been touched by the Sanctuary."

Wave nodded. "Marked. Changed. And whatever comes at Sagstone... it knows us. It is waiting for us."

Tor grunted softly. "Then the path is set."

Spark turned his sharp gaze on me. "We leave at first
