Chapter 134: I SEE ONLY YOU DANTE!

{"In your eyes, I see my whole world."}

I stared at Sierra, my breath catching in my throat. "You’re a Vampire blood Mira?" My voice was hoarse, barely pushing past my lips.

She squeezed her eyes shut as if my words were carved into her soul. "Yes," she whispered, her voice heavy with something I couldn’t quite place.

Rage and confusion twisted inside me. "Then how the hell did you not see it?" My voice broke, my hands curling into fists. "How did you not sense it when Dunco was killed?"

Her eyes snapped open, and the agony I saw in them nearly brought me to my knees. Pain, thick and unbearable, swam in the depths of those beautiful eyes, shimmering like shattered glass. A single tear slipped down her cheek, and she looked away as if she couldn’t bear to meet my gaze.

"I did," she choked out. "I felt something, a shadow, a warning, but it was blurred. Clouded." She took in a shaky breath, her fingers digging into her arms. "Once a Vampire blood Mira sleeps with someone, their sight for that person is never the same. It dims. It weakens. I couldn’t see clearly, Dante. I couldn’t stop it."

Her voice cracked on the last word, and the sound of it tore through me. She had known. She had felt something creeping in the dark, and yet she had been powerless to stop it. All this time, she had been drowning in that guilt, in that unbearable helplessness.

I couldn’t take it and I closed the space between us, cupping her face with trembling hands. She flinched, her lips trembling, but she didn’t pull away. I pressed my forehead against hers, feeling her breath hitch. Then, without thinking, I kissed her. Soft, desperate. A silent plea for the pain to lessen, for even a fraction of the torment to fade.

When I pulled away, my voice was raw. "You must have felt so much remorse," I whispered. "Not being able to do anything. Carrying this... this grief alone all these years."

Sierra bit her bottom lip, her shoulders shaking as she gave the smallest nod. And in that moment, I knew, she had been living in her hell, a never-ending nightmare where she could do nothing but relive the moment, she failed the person she was meant to protect. And I hated that I couldn’t take that pain away from her. Sierra trembled in my arms; her body wracked with the weight of a guilt she had carried for far too long. I held her closer, my arms tightening around her as if I could shield her from the ghosts of her past.

"You’ve carried this burden alone for too long," I murmured, my voice thick with something I couldn’t name. "You don’t have to anymore."

She let out a shaky breath, her hands clinging to my shirt as if afraid to let go. When she finally pulled back, her tear-streaked face broke something inside me. I reached out and wiped the wet trails from her cheeks, my fingers lingering against her skin.

"I’ll always be here for you, Sierra," I whispered. "I swear it."

Her lips parted slightly as if she wanted to say something, but instead, she only searched my eyes. And so, I told her what I had been holding back for too long.

"I should have said this sooner, but I won’t hold back anymore," I confessed, my voice raw. "From now on, I will protect you, for life."

A small, bittersweet smile tugged at the corners of her lips. She nodded, her eyes still glistening with emotion. Then, to my surprise, she tilted her head and asked, "Then why were you jealous of Rou?"

Tilting my head slightly, I scoffed, "How could I not be? I can feel the connection between you and Rou, Sierra. Anyone would."

Her expression softened, and she took a step closer, her fingers brushing against my arm. "Dante," she said gently, "since Dunco died, I’ve never thought of another man apart from you."

Something deep inside me stilled and she held my gaze, unwavering. "The connection with Rou isn’t what you think. The Rogourau best used my Vampire Blood Mira to connect to the earth and send a message to his son, Ralph. Ever since then, I’ve felt connected to Rou but not in a romantic way."

I exhaled slowly, processing her words. The tension that had gripped my chest eased, just a little.

Her voice dropped to a whisper. "You’re the only one I see, Dante."

Her words hit me like a storm, tearing through every wall I had built between us. You’re the only one I see, Dante.

For years, we had danced around this, around the fire that burned between us, too afraid to step too close, too haunted by the ghost of Dunco to admit what was always there. But now? Now there was no running, no hiding.

"Sierra..." Her name left my lips like a prayer, filled with all the things I had never said.

I didn’t think so. I couldn’t. I just pulled her in, crushing my lips against hers in a desperate, claiming kiss.

She gasped against me, and I felt her hesitation melt into something deeper, something raw. Her hands tangled into my hair, pulling me closer, and I felt the way she shuddered under my touch. Years of restraint unraveled in that moment. Every stolen glance, every unspoken confession, every night spent yearning, it all poured into this kiss. She moaned softly, the sound sending fire through my veins. Elation surged through me. She wants this. She wants me.

With a groan, I deepened the kiss, tasting her, breathing her in. My hands slid down to her waist, pulling her flush against me as if I could mold us into one. We had spent too long in the shadows of guilt and fear and right now I held on to what we felt and reveled in it.

Sierra and I left the Kayne Garden, walking in tense silence as we made our way back home. The weight of everything still pressed on my chest, our confessions, the undeniable pull between us, and the storm of danger brewing around us. But right now, we need answers.

As soon as we stepped inside, we found Aurora and Nessa waiting for us, both wearing expressions that made my stomach twist. Something was wrong.

Aurora was the first to speak. "Frery left for Hanka Island and said he was going to find Tor"

I frowned. "What? Why did he rush there? Was there an issue? Whom did he go with?"

"With the royal guard," Nessa added, crossing her arms. "The one we had locked in the dungeon."

I felt Sierra stiffen beside me. My pulse kicked up. "You’re telling me Frery just took off with the same bastard we locked up?"

Aurora nodded, her lips pressing into a tight line. "Yes. Qadira and Frery managed to cut a deal with him since he helped to reach Kayne’s land. And that’s not all."

I should have known it wouldn’t be. "What now?"

Nessa sighed. "Qadira went to the Coven Council to deliver some news that Frery asked her to"

That made me straighten. "Why and what news?"

Aurora exchanged a look with Nessa before answering. "To inform them that Frery Kayne broke up with me."

I blinked. "And?"

Aurora hesitated, then exhaled sharply. "And that I’m now dating Nessa Leora and no longer interested in Frery Kayne."

Sierra and I both snapped to attention. "WHAT?!"

Sierra and I stood there, stunned. The words hung in the air, heavy and disorienting. Frery had gone to Hanka Island. Qadira had marched to the Coven Council to announce Aurora’s breakup with Frery and it made me frustrated as I ran a hand down my face, exhaling sharply. What the hell was happening?

Sierra’s jaw clenched. "Those two will give me a heart attack one day."

I smirked slightly, patting her arm in reassurance. "Frery wouldn’t have made that move unless he had a plan."

She sighed, shaking her head. "I hope you’re right, Dante. Because if not—"

She stopped and completely froze while her eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat. A sudden chill crawled down my spine.

"Sierra?" I stepped closer, gripping her shoulders. "What is it?"

She swallowed hard, her voice barely above a whisper. "Rou... he’s calling for me."

My stomach dropped and I demanded, "What do you mean calling for you?"

She turned to me, urgency flashing in her gaze. "We need to get to the Coven jail cell. Now."

I didn’t waste another second and grabbing her hand, I pulled her toward the door, my pulse hammering in my ear, and left for the Coven Jail cell.

When we arrived at the Coven jail cell, the guards straightened and bowed as Sierra and I strode in. The heavy air of the prison did little to mask the tension crackling in the space. Rou was pacing. Back and forth, his steps quick, his body rigid with unease. The moment he spotted us, he stopped short—his golden eyes dark with urgency. Without hesitation, he rushed toward us, his expression grim.

His voice dropped to a hushed but intense tone. "There is an evil creature in Blood Stone Mountain." His gaze flickered between us, his jaw tightening. "I felt its power, Dante. It’s an evil power. And it’s behind all this madness." A chill crawled down my spine. Blood Stone Mountain? Rou continued before I could speak. "You need to get Frery and Tor there. Immediately."

Sierra stiffened beside me, her fingers curling into fists. "What, why?"

Rou exhaled sharply, his frustration bleeding through. "I also received word from Ralph." His voice was grave now, each word weighted. "Vampires attacked the Bay Shifter Pack."

I cursed under my breath, my hands clenching. Rou’s face darkened. "I felt the creature’s power as I was sending word to Ralph. And..." His expression turned sharp, almost haunted. "It’s already felt that I’m here in Paradise Coven."

Sierra inhaled sharply. "You mean-"

"If my guess is right..." Rou’s voice lowered further, a shadow of dread passing through his eyes." The creature has sent for me and that means that Lord Marcel is coming for me.
