Chapter 113: VAMPIRE BLOOD MIRA

"The blood is the Mira and the Mira is the Blood"

The meeting had dragged on for two hours, tension thick in the air as plans were made and suspicions voiced. By the time we concluded, exhaustion clung to my bones like a heavy cloak. But my mind was far from rest.

Tor must have sensed it too. As we stepped out of the Kayne home, he laced his fingers with mine, his grip warm and grounding. "Come," he murmured, his golden eyes soft under the moonlight. "Let’s go somewhere quieter and have a talk."

I nodded, casting a glance over my shoulder. Rou remained inside with Dante, Ma, Aurora, and Nessa, their hushed voices lingering in the air even as we stepped away. Aggrey and Armon had already left for Paradise Coven City, their mission clear. Listen, watch, and be ready.

I chose to go back to the secret garden in Kayne land and Tor and I moved in silence, the cool night air wrapping around us as we made our way through the deep. But something about it felt different tonight, charged, alive, as if the very earth recognized the power shift. We reached the secret garden, nestled deep within Kayne lands, where the scent of night-blooming flowers filled the air. The ancient trees cast long, dark shadows, their leaves whispering secrets only the wind could understand.

Tor pulled me into the clearing, his other hand coming to rest against my waist. "Finally," he breathed, tilting his head to look at me. "Just us."

I exhaled slowly, allowing the tension to leave my body. "For now," I murmured, though a part of me still felt the weight of what was to come.

Tor’s gaze searched mine before he lifted a hand to my cheek, his thumb brushing against my skin. "No matter what happens, Frery," he said softly, "we face it together."

"Now that’s what I want to hear." Ma’s voice rose behind us, sharp yet filled with warmth. Tor and I jerked apart, startled, and turned to find her standing there, a knowing smile playing at her lips. I hadn’t even heard her approach. Stealth had always been second nature to her, but tonight, it felt like something more, something deeper.

She stepped forward, her gaze sweeping between us, searching, seeing. "I know," she said, softer now, "that the weight of everything is pressing down on you both. The pressure, the burden of what your bond means, it’s a lot."

Tor exhaled, and I could feel the tension in him, the responsibility that came with our connection. I felt it too, wrapping around me like an unshakable force.

Then Ma raised her hands, placing them gently against both our temples. A sudden shift in the air crackled around us, and I felt it, a movement, a force, something ancient and powerful flowing through me. My breath hitched as warmth, like liquid light, surged through my veins. It wasn’t painful, but it wasn’t gentle either. It was knowing.

Tor stiffened beside me, his golden eyes widening. My gaze darted from Ma to him, desperate for an answer, for understanding. What had he sensed? What was she doing?

But Ma only smiled. And then, deep in the bond between Tor and me, our mind link sizzled—hot, electric, alive. Tor let out a chuckle, shaking his head in what looked like disbelief. "So, this is why," he murmured, his voice laced with revelation. "Why the guardian of the Haven... why my grandmother, Althea, urged me to come to you."

His eyes met Ma’s, something unspoken passing between them. "She was right," he whispered.

I frowned, still trying to grasp what he already understood. "Tor?"

He turned to me, his fingers ghosting over mine, steady and sure. "It’s Ma," he said. "The power that sits with her, it’s unlike anything we’ve known." His gaze darkened with certainty. "She’s what we would call a Vampire Blood Mira(magic)"

Ma chuckled; the sound light yet laced with something deeper, something ancient. She nodded, her gaze settling on Tor with quiet acknowledgment.

"You are right," she said, her voice calm yet carrying the weight of history. "My family came from the Vampire Blood Mira’s, but your Pa wanted me to remain hidden. Only the old guardians know the true heritage of my birth, along with the powers I possess."

I felt Tor stiffen slightly beside me, absorbing her words. I, too, was trying to process what she had just revealed. Ma had always been powerful, I’d felt it in the way the land seemed to hum beneath her presence, in the way her very existence commanded respect. But this? This was something far greater than I had imagined.

"The coven council," Ma continued, "knows what I am capable of. And today, I am here to seal your mind from any harm."

Tor and I exchanged glances, the significance of her words sinking in. The mind link—the very force that connected us, that made our bond different from any other, needed protection.

Ma’s gaze softened slightly as she turned fully to Tor. "Your grandmother, Althea, was once a powerful seer, but she was wounded... infected with dark magic when she tried to save the realm."

A shadow flickered across Tor’s face, his jaw tightening. He had spoken of his grandmother before, of the wisdom she had imparted, but never had he mentioned the extent of her sacrifice.

"I know you told me about the magic of Hanka Island, Frery," Ma said, her eyes shifting to me now. "But I also know there is much more that both of you discovered there."

I swallowed, my mind flashing back to the raw energy we had felt on Hanka Island, the whispers of something older than time, something bound to us in ways we still did not understand.

"Tell me, Frery," Ma pressed gently, "do you know what the three magic places that connect to the realm are?"

I hesitated, my lips parting, but no words came. My mind spun through memories, through the power we had encountered, yet the answer remained just out of reach.

I shook my head.

Beside me, Tor exhaled, his voice steady as he spoke. "I do," he said. "The three magic places, Hanka Island, Sagstone Mountain, and Blood Stone Mountain."

"There are those who seek the powers of the three havens," Ma spoke, her voice solemn, "and that is why they remain hidden from everyone in the realm. But Blood Stone Mountain has been corrupted for centuries and the rest of the two havens remain untouched. " She sighed, her hands still hovering in the air before she slowly lowered them. "It was your Pa who kept it safe with the Kayne Stone, but after his death..." She paused, her gaze darkening. "I was afraid that the evil would find you. That is why I chose to stay out of Paradise Coven’s affairs."

Her words settled over me like a thick fog, their weight pressing against my chest. Blood Stone Mountain, corrupted for centuries. And now the evil lurking there was stirring once more and it was threatening the peace of the realm. We had bigger problems than our mating forbidden mating bond.

Ma took a step back, her eyes flickering between Tor and me. "I have done what I can for you two," she said. Then, her gaze settled on Tor, steady and full of meaning. "Tor, you are now my son’s life mate. You must love and protect each other for life. That is the only way to save yourselves and the realm that holds all the people you love."

"Thank you, Ma," I nodded at her, my voice thick with emotion.

Tor stepped forward, his movements slow but deliberate, and wrapped his arms around her in a firm embrace. "I am so glad that Frery had such a wonderful mother like you," he murmured, his voice filled with warmth.

Ma smiled, her hands gently pressing against his back before he pulled away. As he stepped back, she reached up, patting his cheek with the kind of tenderness only a mother could give. Her eyes gleamed with unspoken love and quiet strength as she whispered, "And now I have two sons."

A lump formed in my throat. The sincerity in her words, the acceptance in her gaze, it was a priceless moment. Overwhelmed, I walked over to them, unable to hold back the wave of emotions surging inside me. We all embraced closely, our arms wrapped around one another in a moment of unspoken understanding. The warmth of their touch filled me with a strange mix of emotions, gratitude for Tor, love for Ma, and an aching sorrow for Pa. His absence was a wound that still hadn’t healed, and though I had found my mate, the pain of losing him unfairly still weighed heavily on my heart.

Tor tightened his hold on me as if sensing my thoughts, and then his voice broke through the silence, firm and unwavering. "I promise to protect Frery and ensure he will never be harmed."

Ma let out a choked sob, tears spilling down her cheeks as she buried her face against my shoulder. The depth of her sorrow mirrored my own, and together, we held her, offering comfort beneath the night sky. The breeze of the secret garden whispered around us, carrying the scent of blooming flowers and the faint rustling of leaves.

Under the glow of the stars, we stood there, bound by love, by loss, and by the unshakable promise of what was to come and I felt that our family was coming back, complete and resolute.
