Chapter 110: THIS IS TOR GALE-MY LIFETIME PARTNER
{"Life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation."}
FREY’S POV
Fingers entwined; we stepped into the home of the Kayne estate. The moment the heavy doors shut behind us, the room fell silent. A sharp gasp cut through the still air.
My mother, Sierra, stood frozen, her emerald eyes locked onto Tor as though he were some god out of a legend. My sisters, Qadri’s, Nessa, and Aurora, stared in disbelief. Their expressions ranged from shock to something bordering on curiosity.
To the side, Elder Dante stood stiffly, his gaze shifting between me and the looming presence of Rou, the Rougarou Alpha. Rou had accompanied Tor from the Bay Shifter Pack, his usual impassive expression betraying nothing.
By the massive arched windows, the coven council members Aggrey and Armon regarded us with scrutiny. They had been alive for centuries, witnessing the rise and fall of countless unions, but none like this. None that dared to defy the divide between our worlds.
I took a slow breath and faced them all. "Mother," I said, my voice steady, "I want you to meet Alpha Tor Gale of the Bay Shifter Pack." Tor’s grip on my hand tightened ever so slightly, a silent reminder that I wasn’t alone in this. "And," I continued, my gaze sweeping across the room, "he is my lifetime partner."
I had expected silence. Tension. A storm of protest.
What I hadn’t expected, what no one had expected, was for my mother, Sierra, to step forward, cross the room with effortless grace, and place a hand on Tor Gale’s shoulder.
"Welcome to Paradise Bay," she said softly, her emerald eyes studying him, not with suspicion, but with something close to warmth. Then, to my utter disbelief, she patted his back, an affectionate, deliberate gesture. A collective inhale rippled through the room. My sister, Qadira, Nessa, and Aurora, exchanged stunned glances. Rou, the formidable Rogourau Alpha, raised a single dark brow in a rare surprise. Even the council elders, Aggrey and Armon, remained motionless, as though time itself had stopped.
It was Dante who moved next. He exhaled, ran a hand through his silver-streaked hair, and then stepped forward with a nod. "If Sierra welcomes you, then so do I," he said, his voice smooth yet firm. He clasped Tor’s forearm, a warrior’s greeting, and just like that, the tension in the room shifted.
Tor glanced at me, the corners of his lips lifting slightly, his hand still firmly in mine. He hadn’t expected this either.
I straightened, my heart hammering in my chest. "Since we’re all gathered, let me make the proper introductions," I announced, sweeping my gaze across the room.
Tor was about to meet the people who would determine his place in my world. I gestured first to my mother. "Sierra Kayne, matriarch of the Kayne family. "She inclined her head, the usual sharpness in her eyes softened just enough to make my breath hitch.
I turned to my sisters. "Qadira, my younger sister, and that is, Nessa, and Aurora, members of the Coven council. Nessa still looked as if she might faint, but she managed a nod. Aurora, ever the quiet observer, tilted her head, watching Tor like one would a rare, untamed creature. Qadira my sister crossed her arms but said nothing, yet.
"This," I continued, motioning toward him, "is Elder Dante, a trusted advisor to our family."
Dante smirked. "And the first to break the tension in a room."
Tor nodded at him with appreciation.
"And finally," I finished, turning to the two elder figures standing silently by the window, "Elder Aggrey and Elder Armon of the Coven Council." Aggrey gave a slow nod, his gaze unreadable. Armon, always the more pragmatic of the two, studied Tor with open curiosity.
With introductions complete, I exhaled and led Tor toward the seating area. We all settled, but there was no hiding the undercurrent of disbelief in the air.
The air in the room had begun to settle, but the weight of unspoken questions still lingered. I could feel it, pressing against my skin, pulsing like an unbroken current.
Then, Tors spoke up, His presence alone commanded attention, and when he finally spoke, his voice was smooth yet edged with quiet authority.
"I am Tor Gale," he began, his golden eyes scanning the room. "A Lycan shifter, born in Shifter Bay and the Alpha of the Bay Shifter Pack." No one spoke, but I could hear the slight shift of fabric as my mother, Sierra, adjusted her posture. My sisters, Qadira, Nessa, and Aurora, sat unnervingly still, their gazes locked onto him as if trying to make sense of what they had just heard. Tor turned then, his broad shoulders moving with effortless confidence as he gestured toward the towering figure beside Dante.
"And this," he continued, "is Rou Rogourau, a shifter beast from Sagstone Mountain. He is the Alpha of the Rougarou and my good friends and guard"
The moment the words left his lips, the silence in the room deepened into something more profound. It was the kind of quiet that stretched, held its breath, and coiled around every individual present.
Pin. Drop. Silence.
I didn’t even realize I had tensed until I felt Tor’s fingers briefly brush against mine, a silent reassurance. Across from us, my mother’s lips parted slightly, but no words came. Qadira’s usual sharp tongue remained still. Nessa’s brows knitted together, and Aurora, who rarely showed emotion, blinked once, slowly. My gaze darted to Dante. His expression, ever composed, had shifted into something more calculating. But it was Rou who drew the most attention as he remained unyielding, his beastly nature barely contained beneath his human form. His dark gaze swept across the room, challenging, waiting for the next move.
The air in the room crackled with tension, thick with a mix of shock, disbelief, and something else, something unexpected.
Admiration. I could see it in their eyes. In the way my mother, Sierra, studied Tor with an unreadable expression, her lips slightly parted. In the way my sisters, Qadira’s, Nessa, and Aurora, couldn’t look away, their sharp gazes flickering between the two figures before them.
Vampires were creatures of instinct. And right now, that instinct was warring between fear and fascination. Tor Gale, my mate, sat back with his back straight, his golden eyes unwavering as the room assessed him. He was pure strength, raw and unyielding. A Lycan shifter of the Bay pack, his presence alone was enough to command attention. But more than that, they could sense it.
His power. It rippled off him in waves, steady, controlled. Not a threat, but undeniable. It weighed it, an ancient, primal force that did not beg for acknowledgment, it demanded it.
And then there was Rou Rougarou. The beast of Sag Stone Mountain. He was something else entirely. He did not stand like a man, he stood like something that belonged to the wild, to the shadows, to the myths whispered in hushed voices. The moment he entered, the room felt smaller, the air heavier.
I watched as every vampire present, subtly reached out with their senses, trying to grasp the sheer magnitude of the power that had entered their sanctuary. Their reactions were unmistakable.
A flicker of awe in Dante’s otherwise composed face. A sharp inhale from one of the council members, Aggrey, his fingers tightening around the armrest of his chair. Even Armon, the most skeptical among them, had his brows drawn together, as if struggling to comprehend what he was feeling.
It was rare, almost unheard of, for my kind to be stunned into silence. But here, in the heart of Paradise Bay, the impossible had happened. A Lycan shifter and a Rogourau beast stood in our midst. And for the first time in centuries, the vampires of my coven were left in awe just as the first time I laid my eyes on Tor.
"reyr Kayne is mated to me. He is my mate and the members of my Bay shifter council all know that I am mated to Frery. I came to Paradise Coven because I seek answers about the evil that threatened us, but more so, to see my mate " Tor spoke up with authority, then he turned to me and winked.
Heat rushed to my face the moment Tor winked at me. It was subtle, effortless—the kind of gesture only he could pull off in a room full of sharp-eyed vampires who were still reeling from his presence. His voice was smooth, rich, and utterly shameless. The weight of every gaze in the room shifted to me. My mother’s eyes sparkled with intrigue, my sisters’ lips twitched in amusement, and Dante raised a brow, as if already filing this moment away for future torment. I could feel the heat creeping up my neck, settling in my cheeks, a sensation so foreign it almost startled me.
Qadira, of course, was the first to pounce. A slow, wicked grin spread across her lips as she leaned forward, her piercing gaze locked onto mine like a predator about to pounce. "Oh, Freyr," she cooed, dragging out my name in that singsong tone she knew irritated me. "I don’t think I’ve ever seen you blush before."
I shot her a glare, but that only encouraged her. She turned to Tor, amusement dancing in her emerald eyes. "You must be truly special if you’ve managed to draw out such a rare creation from our dear Freyr. I thought he was incapable of such a thing."
Laughter rippled through the room, and just like that, the ice shattered. The tension that had gripped everyone melted into something lighter, something more manageable. Tor didn’t even look phased. He merely smirked, his gaze flicking back to me with an unmistakable glint of satisfaction.
I exhaled sharply, schooling my expression into something more composed. "I’m still here"
Tor chuckled, low and warm. "Oh, I know."
Qadira laughed, shaking her head. "I like him already."
