Chapter 52: This is the Command Room?
Edgar snapped Noah out of his confusion.
However, Noah hesitates to follow Edgar, standing still for a moment and frowning as he watches him.
The woman’s voice that had greeted him earlier felt unfamiliar, and he realized that no one was there except for the two of them.
"Edgar, do you hear that?"
"Hear what, sir?"
Edgar abruptly halted his step and turned to see Noah.
"A woman welcoming me. Did you hear her voice?"
Rather than directly answering Noah, Edgar kindly urged him to follow.
"Sir, this way..."
Noah sighed silently as he trailed behind Edgar down the hallway, crossing through the living room.
When they finally reached the end of the hallway, Noah saw Edgar step closer to a retina scan before opening the door. But he did not go inside.
He turned to him. "Sir, after you..."
As Noah looked inside, he was surprised by how the room was. It was dimly lit with a soft yellow light, and the walls were bright white, standing out against the limitless light.
Even though the room felt spacious, there were no glass walls or windows, leaving him cut off from the outside world.
He could hardly see anything in the room, just a big white marble table in the middle, glass panels on the white walls, and some sofas in the corners.
However, he was puzzled when he saw the ceiling, which had many strange things hanging from it, like an object pointing at the large table in the center. It looked like it was made of titanium or something similar, ready to shoot a laser.
Noah feels perplexed.
In his mind, the command center resembles a TV station’s newsroom or an air traffic control tower. Yet, this space looks more like an art gallery without the paintings adorning the walls.
He turned to see Edgar, who was now standing near the table.
"This is the command center?" he asked, confused.
"Yes, sir..."
Noah’s frown deepened as he stared intently at Edgar, looking for hints that this could merely be a prank aimed at him.
After watching him for a few more seconds, Noah asked again.
"Are you trying to humor me? Edgar? Why does this room resemble an empty warehouse instead of a command room?"
Edgar stifled a laugh, quickly changing his expression and clearing his throat before he spoke.
"Sir, you need to activate the room first. Kindly place your hand here..." He gestured in a specific direction.
"Ah, so I was mistaken..."
Noah murmured as he walked toward Edgar and stood next to him. It was only then that he noticed something on the white table.
There was a soft blue light there. Just looking at it thrilled his mind and heart.
"Here?" Noah asked, giving a glance at Edgar.
"Yes, sir! Once you place your hand there, the room will identify and link you with something you will soon discover."
Noah placed his hand there. At first, he felt only the coldness in his hand. Still, gradually, a tingling sensation began to spread through the skin of his palm, seeping into his wrists and fingers.
Suddenly, a warmth enveloped him, stunning him with its intensity.
Just as he was about to ask something, his eyes abruptly closed, and a series of fast-paced video clips flashed in his mind, resembling a quick surge of information flowing through his memories.
Those moments lasted for a few more seconds before the warmth gradually faded, and the image settled into his memories, finally coming to a stop.
As Noah opened his eyes, a familiar female voice that had greeted him earlier resonated in his mind again.
’Welcome, Mr. Noah Morgan. You have awakened, and your command center is fully operational. I’m Zoe, here to assist you.’
’Hi, Zoe! Did you hear me?’ Noah responded to her thoughts.
’Absolutely, sir. I can hear you well. You may open your eyes now.’
Noah now understands that only he can hear Zoe since they converse in his mind. This explains why Edgar did not hear Zoe welcome him earlier.
When Noah finally opened his eyes, he was shocked to see what lay before him. The empty white table in front of him now displayed a large hologram of the Earth, with flashing lights and information appearing in various parts.
Before he had a chance to ask, the globe abruptly disappeared and transformed into a large longboard hovering over the table, showcasing all the information about the country, the city, and the company, Golden Phoenix Group.
The hologram presented everything, seemingly eager to reveal something to him.
’What is this, Zoe?’
Zoe began to explain an overwhelming number of things, leaving him stunned.
However, her final words nearly brought him to his knees; he was too shocked to fully process them. He even wondered if he had misheard her.
’Zoe, hold on a moment. Did you mention information about the future? You can foresee what’s to come?’
’I can’t provide the details. At least for now, you’re not strong enough to handle them, sir. However, the answer to your question is either yes or no.’
Instantly, Noah feels his knees getting weak from hearing her answer.
"Sir, are you alright?" Edgar’s voice could be heard from behind as he grabbed Noah, who almost fell.
Noah pulls back from his shock, glancing at Edgar, who seems worried to see him.
"I’m fine..." Noah replied with a smile, but the smile failed to reach his eyes, where shock lingered.
After sharing a few more thoughts with Zee, Noah finally left the command room, with Edgar following closely behind.
...
Noah stood by the glass wall, overlooking the beautiful scenery below. The towering skyscrapers extended as far as his eyes could see.
He finds it hard to see the beauty around him because he is focused on what Zee has told him.
His emotions were mixed; he didn’t know if he should be happy or afraid of the future.
After a few more minutes, Noah finally turned and found Edgar sitting on one of the sofas, looking in his direction.
"Anything you need, sir?"
Edgar asked as he stood and walked toward him.
"Yes! I need to meet Anderson Morgan..."
