Chapter 39: When Trouble Comes Knocking! (1)
The shop staff felt confused.
She could sense a tremor inside as she heard the man’s commanding tone, and his gaze clearly conveyed a silent threat to her.
Instantly, she knew that the man was someone she couldn’t offend.
Considering it carefully, the shop staff would side with him, particularly since she noticed the expensive watch he was wearing.
As the shop staff was about to hand the shoe box to the girl next to him, suddenly her hand stopped abruptly when the other girl grabbed her wrist.
"Hey! I’m the one who’s paying for the shoes. Why did you give them to her?" the spoiled girl questioned, her annoyed glare directed sharply at the shop staff.
The spoiled girl snatched the shoebox without warning while handing the golden card to the shop staff.
"Process it, now!" the spoiled girl snapped.
Then she turned to see Alicia wearing a proud, mocking smile, pleased that this poor girl couldn’t have what she wanted.
"Sorry, I knew you saw this first, but I made the first payment." She grinned when she saw Alicia’s blank expression. Hurriedly, she continued, "Ugh, you can find other shoes with a discount over there; perhaps you’ll find something you like and affordable for you..."
The spoiled girl spoke gently, yet her eyes sparkled with mockery, enough to ignite Noah’s anger as he watched someone verbally bully his sister.
Just as Noah was about to speak, he felt his sister grip his arm, stopping him.
Confused, he frowned and silently asked her, "What happened, sis?" Yet, he only saw Alicia shake her head without saying a word.
"Hurry up! Complete my payment. I’m running out of time. I need to see my dad!" The spoiled girl’s fierce tone drew Noah and Alicia’s attention back to her.
The shop staff appeared puzzled. She glanced at the two young girls before her and then at the gold card.
Feeling the man’s intense gaze, the shop staff hurriedly shook her head and said to the spoiled girl, "Miss, I’m sorry, I can’t process it..."
"Why? A few minutes ago, you said I was the one who got the shoes, and you already accepted my payment." The spoiled girl grinned as she pointed at the shop staff’s pocket, where she put the $50 she had given her earlier.
Upon recalling that, the shop staff’s face instantly turned as white as a sheet. ’Damn it! I’m doomed!!’
The shop staff redirected her attention to Noah and said in a pleading tone, "Sir, I’m so sorry. Could you please ask your sister to check another pair of shoes? We have so many new styles, and all at a discount. Please, kind sir..."
Noah clenched his jaw in disbelief. He could not understand the audacity of this woman. How could she?
"Well, I’m sorry. My sis insists on buying those shoes!" Noah said firmly, pointing at the spoiled girl’s hand holding the shoe.
"No way!! I can’t give you... I’ve already paid for it," the spoiled girl insisted. And glare at the shop staff, "Listen! You must handle this right now, or I’ll get upset and inform my father—he owns this supermall. I’ll ensure he fires you! And shuts down this store!"
The shop staff was utterly shocked. She didn’t expect the girl to own this place.
Regretfully, she pleaded with Noah, "Sir, please, can you help me? Please choose another pair of shoes..."
...
While Noah and the shop staff argued, Alicia felt a little confused.
Why did this blonde seem to want to pick a fight with her? She had never met her before.
Despite her efforts to recall her memories, she still couldn’t remember who she was.
Alicia feels frustrated. She sighs deeply while brushing off the thought, wondering if this girl might know her.
She pulled Noah’s sleeve to get his attention.
"Brother, let’s just go to another store. I no longer want the shoes. They look ugly!" she said gently, hoping to avoid any drama.
Noah was surprised to see how composed his sister appeared, but the pain in her eyes revealed her heartache. This only fueled his anger towards the spoiled girl and the shop staff.
He put his hands on her shoulders and smiled.
"It’s fine, Alice. There’s no need to fear people like them. I don’t care who she was or if her father owned this place. If you like the shoes, let’s get them for you."
"Brother, no need. I’m fine." Alicia shook her head.
Alicia knew her brother was wealthy, but she didn’t want to complicate his life just because of this inconvenience.
"Let’s go, bro..." Alicia tugged at Noah’s hand as they made their way outside.
However, just as they were about to step out, a sharp laugh echoing in the room halted them.
"Hahaha, you are so daring to challenge my dad? Do you know he is the CEO of this place?" the spoiled girl’s annoyed voice echoed from behind.
’This foolish girl! Did she really invite her own downfall?’ Noah muttered under his breath. He was reluctant to include her in his revenge, yet she provoked him.
Noah stopped in his tracks and turned to see the girl, but his gaze landed on Jason, who was about to tackle her. He signaled him to stop with his eyes.
Jason walked over to Noah and asked, in a hushed tone, "Man, why did you stop me? This foolish girl needs to be disciplined. I can’t stand her arrogance!" He smirked.
Noah chuckled, looking at Jason’s amusing expression.
"Come on, Jason, you’re too OP to deal with this silly girl! Head to the corner with Alice while I take care of them..." He smiled as he patted Jason’s shoulder, urging him to quickly take Alice away.
"Are you sure, man?" Jason appears hesitant to go.
"Absolutely! You only need to enjoy the show..." he said with a mischievous grin, playfully gesturing for Alice to join Jason.
After watching Jason and Alicia step back into the corner, Noah’s smile faded as he turned to face the spoiled girl before him.
