Noah steals another glance at the system alert, hoping to reassure himself that he hasn’t misread it.

...

...

After a brief pause, the information confirms his fears: a poison in his mother’s blood was the cause of her death.

’God damn it! Who the hell killed my mother!?’

Noah fumed, his thoughts simmering with anger. He took out his cell phone to make the call.

However, before Noah could call Matthew, he noticed the nurse preparing to clean his mother’s body.

He rushed to the bed and stopped her. "Wait! Don’t touch my mother. I need you to help arrange for an autopsy."

"Sir, why do you want an autopsy?!" The nurse was surprised. "The doctor has said that your mother’s chronic cardiovascular disease has finally caught her. Her death was obvious; she had suffered an acute myocardial infarction. Sudden and severe heart attack."

No words can describe Noah’s current feelings. He is devastated and furious after learning that his mother was poisoned, and this nurse only fuels his anger.

Clenching his hand tightly, he said, "Nurse, please shut up and do as I say!"

"Yes, sir. I will arrange it," the nurse stuttered, shocked.

After watching the nurse finally leave the room, he glanced briefly at his mother’s lifeless body before calling Matthew.

"Sir, do you need anything from me?!" Matthew’s cheerful voice echoed from the other end, greeting Noah.

"Matthew, someone killed my mother!"

"What!?" Matthew was unable to hide his shock. "Sir, can you tell me what happened?"

Noah quickly told Matthew about his mother. She showed signs of life briefly, but it was only a false alarm. It was discovered that she had suffered a heart attack. What stunned him was the system alert, warning him that his mother might have been poisoned.

"I need your help to investigate this!"

Noah pleaded. He felt lost because his system held no information about the individual who injected the poison. Furthermore, no revenge ledger appeared.

"I will, sir." A furious voice replied from the other end. "What is the hospital’s name?"

Noah took a deep breath, feeling his chest tighten once more. "Green Lake Hospital. Does the Golden Phoenix Group own this hospital?"

"Unfortunately, no! But things are looking better; we can go after them legally," Matthew replied confidently. "You can count on the guards trailing you, sir. They will come to assist you."

"Thank you. I only wanted to know the mastermind behind this wicked act toward my mother. The rest, I trust you to do whatever you want, close this place down, throw those involved in jail for life, do whatever it takes to repay what they did to my mother!" He said in a cold tone that seemed to drop the temperature around him to below zero.

After a few more minutes, Noah finally ended the call with Matthew.

There was nothing else he could do for now. Yet, he can’t bring himself to move; his cold gaze remains fixed on his mother’s lifeless body.

Before long, his cell phone rang again; the caller was the leader of his guard.

When the guard arrived, Noah was surprised to see that he had come with five people, who had introduced themselves as his security guards, Red Level.

Noah wasn’t sure what the level’s color meant. By observing their expressions and how swiftly and properly they handled the situation, he confidently guessed they all shared an ability similar to Jason’s.

They quickly manage his mother’s autopsy and begin their investigation.

...

Noah decided to check on his sister and called Jason. He was surprised to learn she had been moved to the VIP room.

The sky was dark when he finally entered the VIP room where his sister was resting.

"Jason..."

Noah called out softly, his voice barely above a whisper, as he made his way to the bed in the corner.

"How is your mother, Noah? Do you know when they might schedule the funeral?"

Jason asked gently, noticing how troubled Noah appeared.

"Noah, please rest here. I will help you to arrange everything," Jason offered. Having known him for so long, this was the first time he had seen him in this condition—he looked just like he was about to faint, pale, and his gaze appeared empty.

Noah took a moment before answering Jason. He made his way over to the bed to check on Alicia.

As he watched her sleep peacefully, he frowned and turned to Jason.

"Why isn’t she awake yet?"

"Alice is doing alright, but she seems a bit weak. They gave her something to help her rest. Earlier, she woke up and searched for you, but after that, she cried again and drifted back to sleep," Jason explained.

Noah let out a deep sigh. He paused for a moment longer before signaling to Jason to follow him to the seating area in the corner.

Gazing at Jason, who sat opposite him, he revealed that someone had killed his mother—injecting poison that couldn’t be easily detected and leading her to die as if she were having a heart attack.

Jason was taken aback.

After regaining his composure, he said, "Noah, I will help you to investigate!"

Noah pinched his eyebrows, trying to distract himself from the headache he felt while asking Jason to sit again.

"No need. Matthew has assigned a few people to handle that," Noah explained while trying to check his system for anything that might help him investigate more quickly.

But he found that nothing could help him there. It made him even more frustrated.

’Damn it!’ he cursed in his heart, wanting to help but afraid that if he made a scene, the perpetrator would be found out, and they would run away before they could catch him.

"Noah, may I suggest something?"

Jason’s voice snapped Noah from his confusion; he turned to see him.

"Yes?"

"I can assist you in monitoring their progress or investigating without interfering with them." Jason offered.

"What do you mean? Are you going out to check?"

"Nope! I could order someone to access their CCTV and communication discreetly. It won’t matter whether they communicate through a landline or the internet. I will start with your sister’s cell phone. She always communicated with the nurse or doctor here, right?"

Noah’s eyes beamed.

How could he possibly forget? Matthew is skilled in cybersecurity and cyberattacks; he knows how to hack a gadget or computer.

"Thank you, Jason, but there’s no need. I will ask Matthew to check my sister’s cell phone," Noah replied as he took out his phone to text him.

"Matthew, I sent you my sister’s cell phone number. Go ahead and trace the possible perpetrator from her phone. The person who contacts her might lead you to them." From: Noah

After sending the text, Noah stared at his cell phone nervously, waiting for Matthew to respond.

He lost track of time while staring at his cell phone.

Soon after, the phone vibrated with a text from Matthew.

"We found him! Red team leader will report to you!" From: Matthew
