Blood Nemesis
Chapter 48: Grudge 2

Chapter 48: Grudge 2

4 am.

It was early morning. However, darkness had yet to fade away to bring forth dawn.

Oliver stood in front of the building and gazed up.

The building was well lit.

The front door was locked.

No one could be seen outside.

It seemed like they had barricaded themselves inside the building, fearing Grizzly’s retaliation.

’They either fear open conflict, or they are weak.’ Oliver said in his mind.

Why else would they hide when they came to their doors?

’Four stories tall. Each floor will have about 50. That’s 200 people in total. That’s what Grizzly estimated. But because of being in an enclosed space, they will not be able to use all their abilities.’

’What I should fear are traps.’

’But it doesn’t matter. With 8000L of blood, I can revive even if I die. If they can’t kill me in one blow, I could just heal myself.’

Oliver smiled and turned to look at Grizzly.

"Block the exit and send a few to cut the power lines to the building," Oliver ordered.

His words had a compelling force that made Grizzly follow them.

"What are you going to do?"

"Murder." Oliver turned around and walked to the building.

"Are you going in alone?"

"Yes."

"There could be multiple C-rankers inside."

"Doesn’t matter."

"But." The Grizzly was unconvinced.

Oliver was walking in without even taking a weapon.

Why did he even order an armor-piercing round if he could slay C-rankers without it?

C-rankers’ base mana level would be in the thousands. And 10% of it would always flow through their body, giving natural defence.

So, a peak C ranker with 10,000 U of mana will have about 1000 U of protective mana.

Breaking through 1000 U was difficult, even if it was a surprise attack.

Only with armor-piercing rounds and an element of surprise would a lower-ranked person have a chance of breaking through their natural mana protection of C C-ranker.

Thus, Oliver had to be on par with a C rank or higher to defeat one.

Grizzly himself was a C ranker. So he knew how difficult it would be to fight multiple C-rankers.

He was planning to force them out with weapons and even invited a few C-rank friends of his.

Although they have yet to come, he planned to wait before entering he building.

’But this guy...’ Grizzly gazed at the back of the young man walking towards the building in confusion.

"Don’t think too much. Wait here for a few minutes and kill anyone who escapes. It will be over soon." Oliver said to Grizzly, who was lost in thought.

While speaking, he didn’t stop.

His body moved to the front door in a straight line.

Grizzly, who was watching this from behind, suddenly saw his silhouette twist and turn as tentacles grew from his body. Soon, Oliver grew taller as red liquid covered his entire body.

Then, with a powerful push, he slammed the door open.

"BOOM!" The sound of the metallic door being blasted open resounded within the area.

After that, Oliver disappeared into the building.

By that time, the power line to the building was cut, and everything went dark.

—-

Oliver, who walked in, was greeted by men wearing oddly shaped purple robes. In their hands were guns and swords.

The moment they saw him, they shot at him.

However, the lights went off at that exact moment, confusing them.

*Tuk*

*Tuk*

The bullets hit their mark with explosive force. However, Oliver had used blood to cover his entire body like armour, and the tentacles were also protecting him from the front. So, the bullets hit the blood, their energy dispersing into it before slowly dropping down into the floor.

Oliver, with his years of experience, had predicted what was about to happen and was prepared for it.

He smiled the moment the lights went out and dashed forward.

Unlike the rest, who found it difficult to move and attack in darkness because of their allies being near them, Oliver was alone. He twisted his tentacles and slammed them forward with the force moving car.

The tentacles served two purposes in the darkness. They were his sensory organs and, at the same time, his weapons.

Within seconds, the tentacles grabbed the heads of his enemies and squeezed, breaking their skulls in one swift motion.

*Thump*

*Thud*

*Thump*

The dead bodies were thrown away after blood was absorbed into the tentacles.

All it took was a few seconds for Oliver to eliminate the team of cultists protecting the front door.

"10 multiplied by 5. About 50 liters. Lost 25 litres to eliminate the enemy and got 50 in return. That’s a profit." Oliver calculated the blood he used versus the blood he absorbed after killing his enemies.

Then, he nonchalantly walked forward.

The people he just killed were cannon fodder. They were normal people without any mana. He has yet to meet someone who could injure him.

In the dim light, Oliver saw weird drawings and symbols filling the entire corridor he was walking through. These drawings and symbols were impressive and somewhat beautiful. For a newly emerged cult, they seemed to spend time developing the lore.

The corridor was long, and he had to walk through the entire floor to reach the stairs on the other side.

Oliver quickly moved through the area while scanning for enemies and traps.

However, the first floor was entirely devoid of life.

Everyone seemed to have moved up to the floor above.

Oliver quickened his pace.

No traps or people were protecting the floor. He felt something was off about the whole situation. But it doesn’t matter. There was nothing inside that could kill him. And even if he died, he could be revived.

He was a persistent guy who would never stop until all those inside were dead.

It took Oliver only a few seconds to move up to floor two.

However, that floor was also empty.

Finally, he reached the third floor and saw some people. However, they were all standing in a trance, without moving.

’What’s happening?’

Oliver had questions.

The third floor was a large open area with pillars in the middle and a stairway leading to the floor above. And the people, about fifty or so, were standing on floor, scattered and disorderly.

The moment he walked close to one.

The person opened his eyes. His eyes were glowing in a pale blue colour.

In a flash, all the others opened their eyes and turned to look at Oliver.

"Mind control?"
