Blood Nemesis -
Chapter 46: Action 4
Chapter 46: Action 4
Guns and weapons, if registered, were not costly. In the current day and age, everyone has a few for safety. After all, monsters and mana beasts roam the earth.
So, if Oliver had bought it normally, it would only cost him about 5000 creds. That’s the average monthly income of a normal family.
However, now he had to pay double to purchase the same items.
"So, how are you paying? Cash, crypto, gold, or mana stones?" Grizzly asked.
Although money can be transferred digitally, it can be tracked. So, other means have to be used.
"Before that, I would like to sell something."
"Oh!" Grizzly was amused.
Although the customer was young, possibly a student, he didn’t dare to underestimate him.
In this day and age, who knows what weird abilities people have? A young man could actually be an old man. A weak person could be someone strong.
If he handles it badly, he could end up dead.
Although Grizzly was a strength-type superhuman, his rank was only C. There were a lot of people in the world who could crush him.
"What would you like to sell?"
"Information."
"Information about?"
"Do you want to know about the traitors in your group?" Oliver asked with a smile.
However, the moment he mentioned the traitor, the smiling face of the man darkened. The mana flowing through his body created an aura field around him.
Grizzly was agitated.
"What do you mean?"
"There is a traitor amongst you.
You know it. Someone has been targeting you recently, right?"
Oliver went through his memory and said. He was being vague purposely.
"How do you know that?"
"Are you going to pay first?"
"You shouldn’t dare speak without proof." He said with hostility.
"Proving it now might be difficult. But you can verify it yourself." Oliver spoke calmly.
He didn’t look like a person who was lying.
"What is a good price for information that can save your life?" Oliver added while waiting patiently.
Meanwhile, the bartender who was standing nearby felt an ominous feeling enveloping him.
"20,000 creds." Grizzly forced out a smile once more and said.
"You don’t value your life."
"25,000."
"You don’t value your life and the lives of the people working for you."
"30,000. It’s the best I can offer for unverified information."
"Then double it after verifying it. I will get paid after verification. Can you do that?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." Oliver nodded.
He was not concerned that Grizzly would run away without paying. After all, for a black market agent, reputation was important.
Once someone knew that he ran away without paying a client, he would never get any customers in his entire life. All the reputation he had built up during the years would disappear in a day.
"Okay, let’s do that." Grizzly agreed to give Oliver 60,000 creds after he verified the information.
That was a profit of 50,000 creds.
In Oliver’s bank account, he had about 18,000 cred. It was the money he got after working in the mana beast processing plant for three months.
Now he made a little over two times that by selling a few pieces of information.
If he wished, he could sell more information and gain millions. A new possibility opened before Oliver.
"Now, let’s go to a place where we can talk alone," Oliver said while glancing at the bartender standing nearby.
"Hm."
Both of them got up and walked to another room.
—
Meanwhile, the bartender walked away and took out his phone. He quickly sent a message.
The content of the message held what he had heard from the conversation between Grizzly and Oliver.
Then he bit his nails and waited.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated.
A single message came back saying the person on the other side would take care of it.
—-
"Then I am leaving," Oliver said and left the gambling hall.
His conversation ended, and he got everything he asked for and more.
Oliver was satisfied.
’Living a second time feels like easy mode.’ He thought and joyously walked to his bike.
Now he can go back home after some exercise. He thought, and he switched on the bike.
The electric bike was not that fast. But it could help him get where he wanted to go.
’I should thank Steve for getting me this. Should I beat him less?’
Oliver got on the bike and drove to another part of the red-light district.
He was going to get some cardio exercises done.
—
When Oliver left on his bike, the bartender took a photo of it and sent it to another person.
Immediately, unknown to him, many people began to stealthily follow Oliver.
—
A while later, Oliver parked his bike near a building that was under construction. Left and right of the building were adult entertainment establishments, fit for a good cardio workout.
But now was not the time.
As Oliver expected, people were following him the moment he left the Grizzly Bar.
When he got off the bike, these people had stealthily surrounded him.
"Five. That’s too few. I need more than 25 litres of blood for it to be worth it." Oliver muttered, unsurprised.
Whenever Oliver used his ability, a small amount of blood would be lost. If there was a lot of action, the blood loss would increase. So, to replenish it, he needed more enemies.
From the looks of it, the people who were surrounding him were D-rank thugs. They could use about 1000 units of mana. Add to this the unpredictable nature of abilities, he would have to waste some blood in the process.
"This is a drag." Oliver stood his ground and popped his knuckles.
"So, can we get it done with?" He asked.
Immediately, the men raised their swords and dashed at him.
Currently, they were inside the city. So they couldn’t use guns, which could attract the attention of heroes or the police.
"Okay, then let’s end it quickly."
Oliver waited for them to close in on him.
The swords the men were holding were shining slightly as mana filled them. Some of them even had sparks of lightning and fire covering them.
"Fire and lightning abilities are cool," he said, and pointed his hand at them.
Immediately, five large tentacles sprouted from his back and flew towards his enemies. Each tentacle was flying with a force to smash a car.
And just as they reached the men, their tips hardened.
*Splush* Making an odd sound, the tentacles tore through their body, lightning fast.
Although some tried to dodge it, Oliver was an expert at maneuvering them just right to hit his target.
It was far too easy.
Five bodies fell onto the ground before anyone noticed there was a fight. Using the darkness as a cover, he stashed the bodies away.
