Blood Nemesis -
Chapter 39: Teach 3
Chapter 39: Teach 3
"The bovine beast would wake up during this process because of the piercing pain it would experience. However, by that time, it would be too late. The larvae will quickly drill into the muscles, blood vessels, internal organs, and gut to find a safe place to grow."
"Although the mana beast is strong, and it could use mana to kill some of the worms in its body, clearing out everything would be difficult unless it destroys its body."
"By this time, it would scream in pain at the realisation that it would have to kill itself to kill all the worms."
"What animal would want to kill itself, right?"
Stephen nodded.
"So, it will hide its pain and continue to live." Oliver was satisfied when he saw Stephen nod.
"Steve, what happens next is the most fun part," He said with a gentle smile, using a random nickname again. "Do you know what it is?" He asked.
"No..." Stephen muttered in confusion.
"You should have known, kid." Oliver stabbed the needle-like blood-rod in his hand into Stephen’s body, pinning him to the ground.
The kid squirmed as he felt something being injected into his body.
"The next thing that happens is the death of the bovine beast." Oliver continued to speak without paying attention to Stephen.
"Within a week after infestation, the screwworms would eat the living tissue and blood of the bovine beast to grow. After a few days, the bovine beast would fall sick, which exacerbates its condition."
"Soon, its internal organs would bleed, and its nervous system would fail. In effect, it would turn into an all-you-can-eat buffet for the worms. The ravenous consumption would continue until the beast dies from the most pain a creature can experience. It will be a horrifying death with pus and blood leaking from its seven orifices."
"The larvae, now, would consume the flesh inside the body and would grow to their next phase. After a few hours, their body, fully matured, would eat its way out, undergo metamorphosis, and fly into the sky."
Oliver said while slowly injecting more blood into the kid’s body.
"Do you feel that?" He asked.
"Hm." Stephen nodded.
"It’s the blood I am injecting into your body. It’s my blood." He added.
Stephen nodded again.
"Good, I am a universal donor," Oliver said. "Anyway, let’s get back to the topic. The flies, after coming out, would continue to live their life and repeat the process."
"Do you know why I told you this story?" Oliver asked.
Stephen whimpered and shook his head.
Oliver smiled seeing that.
"As you can see, my ability is blood manipulation. But I made a discovery recently. I can store a vast amount of blood in my body and can heal myself using that."
Oliver cut his arm and showed that it healed instantly.
"Well, what does it have to you? It would be the question you are asking in your mind. So, let me explain."
"The prerequisite of healing is that I am alive. My body needs to be in a condition that blood can heal it."
"So, what would happen when my body dies? Can you guess?" Oliver asked.
"..."
Stephen felt his hair stand up as a shiver travelled through his entire body. His eyes trembled, and his ears went deaf for a moment. A suffocating feeling surrounded him.
A bad feeling.
Was it a premonition?
Oliver smiled, seeing the reaction. It was the reaction he was expecting.
Oliver, wearing a smile, began to speak again, "It considers any other living part of me as a focal point and will begin to reconstruct my body."
"For example, the blood I just injected into your body." He added.
"So, what do you think would happen when I revive inside your body?" His lips curled up into an even wider smile.
"Now, do you remember the story about the screwworms?" Oliver let out a hollow laugh.
Stephen felt his head turn light. The information was too difficult for him to process. Still suppressing all his thoughts, he nodded, fearing that he would be beaten again.
"Guess you are not as stupid as you seem." Oliver tapped his shoulder.
It was praise. No, it was more of a threat than a praise. Then he continued to speak.
"When I revive, it is like rebirth. My body would begin to form into my current shape inside your body." Oliver paused.
"And, for your information," Oliver gazed at the starry sky. "I won’t be coming out to call you mother." He spoke slowly.
"In fact, when I revive, your body will fall apart, and you will die in the most miserable way possible, just like the bovine beast we were talking about." Oliver ended his words with a smile and returned his gaze to the kid.
"Look at the starry sky. It’s such a beautiful world, and you are young. There is a lot for you to enjoy. So, do you want to die like that?"
Stephen shook his head like a wobbly head toy. He was scared beyond words and was finding all his strength to shake his head.
"Oh, that’s great." Oliver nodded. "Let me give you this piece of information since you are so cooperative. Tranfused blood would remain in the body of a person for about four months. And there is no known way to completely remove it, even if you want to, just like the bovine beasts."
"So, do you want to me die during these four months?" Oliver asked with his signature smirk.
"..." Stephen shook his head harder.
"Great." Oliver was satisfied. "Will you speak to anybody about this?"
Stephen shook his head again.
"Hmm... You have become a lot better at following directions. So, let me give you few more."
After that, Oliver used the next few minutes to talk about how Stephen was prohibited from going near Oliver or his family members and how he should act when he met them accidentally.
He also asked him to act as a double agent and inform him about any danger his brother would face.
Then, he turned around and walked away. He spent a lot of time, at least he should buy an icecream before returning, he thought.
