Blood Nemesis -
Chapter 36: Bother 3
Chapter 36: Bother 3
Oliver didn’t know what pissed off the metalic kid, but he certainly was attacking him.
As he ran, the concrete under his foot cracked. Although they were only a few meters apart, he was quickly building up momentum.
The boy called Victor laughed menacingly as he noticed Oliver standing still. He thought he was frozen in fear, afraid of his mighty strength.
"Arin, let’s see if your brother can bleed." He said.
His intent was clear.
He wanted to subdue and injure Oliver to punish Arin.
Arin was slow to react. Before he had a chance, Victor closed in on Oliver.
"No." He spoke.
But it was too late.
Victor had already reached within arm’s length of his brother.
He was about to thrust his knife-like hardened hand into the abdomen.
Arin felt his heart tighten.
His brother came looking for him. Although they didn’t exactly have a good relationship before, they were still brothers.
It was all about to end.
Fear and panic drowned him as he felt powerless to prevent the tragedy.
In desperation, he prayed to god and blinked.
"Ah!"
Once he opened his eyes, the scene he saw shocked him to the core.
Victor, who had rushed forth to attack his brother, was flying through the air.
Something long and reddish had grabbed him by the foot and flung him away.
"Bleed? A kid like you thinks you can make me bleed?" A calm and chilling voice spoke. The person was scoffing at the notion.
By the time he finished speaking, Victor was thrown off the building, into the darkness below.
Oliver retrieved his blood tentacle and glanced at the kids before him.
"He has a thick skull reinforced with metal. He probably won’t die, right?" He smiled while asking the question.
His bright smile felt like a death sentence to those who saw it. The kids holding metal bats and knives faltered and retreated.
The strongest among them was Victor. And he was thrown off the building effortlessly.
Do they even stand a chance against this man who suddenly appeared?
Was it really the loser brother of Arin?
They found it difficult to grasp what happened.
Arin’s situation was similar. For a second, he believed gods existed because what he saw was indeed a miracle. He felt like a glowing halo was surrounding his brother.
Like the bullies, he too was surprised by what he saw.
What happened inside the military academy to change him this much? Arin asked himself.
Meanwhile, the leader of the bullies was still squeezing the breast, this time harder, to relieve his stress.
The girl sitting on his lap winced in pain.
However, the kid had no intention of stopping.
"You are different from what we heard." The kid adjusted himself on the chair and said.
"Arin, take your friend and leave." Oliver completely ignored him again.
"Hey, I am talking to you."
"Arin?"
Oliver’s words woke Arin up from his stupor. He realised his brother was not joking around and ran forward.
This time, no one stopped him.
How can they?
Arin was already stronger than all of them individually. His ability was strength amplification.
If Victor had been there, with his high defensive capabilities, they could have done something about it. But now, they were powerless.
In the meantime, their boss was busy squeezing his stress relief balls, not moving an inch to help.
There was nothing they could do.
Arin flashed towards them, grabbed his friend, and retreated in just a few seconds.
"Leave." Oliver didn’t waste any time and said.
"But."
"Leave," Oliver repeated while taking out his phone and handing it over to his brother. For some reason, Arin was compelled to grab it, not questioning his brother this time.
"Call Mom and Dad and say you are coming home. If they ask about me, just say I went to buy some ice cream." Oliver ordered and walked forward.
Arin nodded and left silently.
He didn’t know why, but he fully trusted his useless brother to take care of the situation this time.
"Now, you can speak." Oliver turned to the boy sitting on the chair and said.
___
Arin ran out of the building quickly.
By the time he reached the bottom floor, he could hear the screams of some of the kids.
What was happening there? He asked in his mind.
However, he didn’t stop and continued to run away. His friend was kicked around like a football. He was badly bruised and may have even sustained internal injuries. He had to take him to the hospital.
"Wonjun, are you feeling okay?" He asked.
"Do I look like I am okay?"
"You don’t."
"Then, what’s the point in asking?" Wonjun sighed exasperated.
Wonjun was the friend who was beaten black and blue by Victor.
"Anyway, is that really your brother?" He asked.
"I think so."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Can six months away from home change a person like that?"
"Can six years do it?" Wonjun was also confused. "Aouch! Ahh!" He screamed when Arin took the final step out of the building.
Arin was carrying him on his back. So, when he suddenly took a large step down, it seemed to have made his ribs press down harder.
"Walk slower. We are safe... wait a minute. Is that Victor?" Wonjun pointed at a pit near them.
It was difficult to see in the darkness. But something was really inside the human-shaped pit.
"Let me down." Immediately, he asked.
"You are injured."
"Nothing’s broken or cracked. And I can’t miss this chance."
"Okay."
The moment Wonjun was put down, he limped towards the pit. Inside it was Victor, unconsciously lying without the metallic skin of his.
However, he looked unharmed even though he fell from a building over ten stories high. The reason he was unconscious was mana overuse.
"I can’t waste this chance." Wonjun used the tiny bit of mana in his body to lift his foot and kick Victor on his legs.
"Ah! That feels great."
After a couple of kicks that carefully avoided vital parts, he asked Arin to carry him to a bus stop. His injuries, although painful, were not serious enough to go to a hospital.
"AAAAHHH." Suddenly, they heard a scream, but they ignored it and left.
