Chapter 369: -122- Overwhelm

"Teleportation Magic? Lord Gaston, what do you mean by that?"

Charlotte’s gaze shifted from the spot where Sebastian had disappeared to land upon Count Gaston.

Seeing that Charlotte was not thrown into panic by Sebastian’s disappearance, Count Gaston was somewhat surprised.

He nodded in approval, smiling slightly:

"True to the person who managed to succeed the territory under the watchful eyes of the Church and the Duke, Lord Charlotte, you’re even more composed than I had imagined."

With that, he clapped his hands, and two rows of Transcendents who had been lying in ambush instantly filed in, encircling Charlotte completely.

"Lord Charlotte, will you surrender peacefully, or will you struggle in vain?"

Count Gaston asked with a smiling gaze.

Yet, Charlotte did not answer his question.

Looking at the armaments, clearly different from those of the Bold garrison, she raised her eyebrows slightly:

"Transcendent mercenaries? Lord Gaston, you hire Transcendent mercenaries to attack a peer without cause; are you not afraid of the affair being exposed and being found guilty by the Kingdom’s Noble Council?"

"Guilty? Lord Charlotte, how could that be? Clearly, you have been ambushed and kidnapped by the Blood Demon Church because of a feud with them. How could it possibly relate to the Gaston family?"

Count Gaston laughed.

Having said that, he nodded to the Transcendent mercenaries, who then took out the characteristic demon masks of the Blood Demon Church from their bosoms and put them on one after another.

Watching the mercenaries don the demon masks upon Gaston’s command, Charlotte’s gaze grew even more peculiar.

Her eyes fell on the Transcendent mercenaries who silently surrounded her, and she curiously said:

"Judging by the attire...are you mercenaries from Eastern Yonette? What has Lord Gaston promised you that you are willing to disguise yourselves as Blood Demon Cultists and lay hands on a Landed Count?"

The mercenaries did not answer Charlotte’s question but silently pressed in on her.

It was Count Gaston standing behind them who continued to laugh and say:

"Lord Charlotte, there’s no need to think about trying to win them over with interests. These people are undercover agents of the Gaston Clan in Eastern Yonette, not like those mercenary traitors from the Black Land."

"The Gaston Clan...?"

Charlotte’s heart stirred, and then she realized:

"I see, I had forgotten...the Gaston of Bold is a branch of the Duke Gaston family from the east..."

"I’ve heard that some of the old noble families in the east have a tradition of raising Transcendent Death Soldiers. If I’m not mistaken, these people are the Transcendent Death Soldiers from the Gaston Clan, aren’t they?"

"Lord Gaston, it seems you’ve gone to quite the expense for today’s ambush."

While speaking, Charlotte’s gaze once again fell upon the "Transcendent mercenaries" who had surrounded her:

"But you don’t really believe that by using such a flawed method, you can fool everyone in the Northern Land, do you?"

"Heh, that’s no concern of yours. Since we’ve decided to act, of course, we’ve got ways to make everyone believe everything."

"Also...there’s no use in trying to stall for time. Mr. Sebastian should be swimming in the sea a hundred kilometers away by now. To deal with your powerful Elf Tracer, I’ve directly used up a Teleportation Scroll crafted by a Legendary Mage. If you’re still hoping he might come back to save you, then I’m afraid you’re going to be sorely disappointed."

Count Gaston said with a laugh.

Speaking, he became serious and waved his hand gently, commanding the Transcendents:

"Tie her up!"

Upon receiving the command, the Transcendent at the forefront, whose power had reached the Second Tier of New Moon, stepped forward to bind Charlotte with a Magic Prohibition Chain.

Yet, just as the Transcendent was about to touch Charlotte’s shoulder, a silver brilliance erupted by her side.

Phantom Magic Inscriptions lit up in mid-air, converging into a circular Array that radiated a soft halo.

An elongate arm suddenly reached out from within the Array, grasping the Transcendent’s head directly.

"Burning Flame!"

The chant, rhythmic and emphatic, was uttered, and intense flames instantly spread from the elongate arm, enveloping the Transcendent at the front in their grasp.

The Transcendent, who was a Second Tier Silver Moon, didn’t even have the chance to react before he turned into a fireball and exploded in an instant.

"Boom!"

A blinding light flashed, and the scorching wave blew all the Transcendents surrounding Charlotte away; even Count Gaston instinctively retreated several steps.

When the radiance dissipated, the entire room’s ceiling had vanished.

Charlotte remained unharmed, standing there surrounded by a light blue Magic Shield, and in front of her, Sebastian, wearing a tailcoat, elegantly adjusted his soaked shirt, bowing to her respectfully:

"My Lord, I hope these insects haven’t offended you?"

Hmm... if it weren’t for the half strand of seaweed tangled with his red hair, perhaps he would have appeared a bit more imposing.

"Super Long-Distance Point-to-Point Transmission?! Legendary Magic?! This... this is impossible!"

Staring at the re-emerging figure of Sebastian, Count Gaston’s eyes widened in disbelief.

"Well then, since you’re back, let’s get to work."

Charlotte surveyed the surrounding Transcendents, speaking in a leisurely tone.

"At your command."

Sebastian elegantly bowed to her again, and with a flash in his hand, he summoned a flaming sword.

The aura of Silver Moon Peak erupted from him, the roiling Power of Elements causing the magic power within a few hundred meters to surge erratically.

Feeling that overwhelmingly powerful magic power, Count Gaston’s complexion turned pale:

"Quick! Stop him!"

Having said this, he himself turned and fled, quickly moving away under the escort of two Second Tier Transcendent Death Soldiers, without a hint of hesitation.

A fierce battle soon broke out between Sebastian and the Transcendents.

No, rather than a battle, it was more like a unilateral crushing.

By becoming one of Charlotte’s Blood Favored, Sebastian’s strength had long surpassed that of a normal Silver Moon.

These Transcendents, at most Second Tier Silver Moon, might be considered rare powerhouses on a normal day, but they were still no match for him.

Sebastian alone held off all the Transcendents arranged by Count Gaston; however, with the Transcendents’ delay, he was unable to prevent Count Gaston’s escape.

After turning another Transcendent to ashes, Sebastian glanced in the direction where Count Gaston had disappeared, his expression slightly hesitant, but the next second, he heard Charlotte’s voice ring in his ear:

"You deal with these people, as for Gaston... leave him to me."

A gentle breeze passed, and with it, Charlotte’s voice faded away.

When Sebastian turned back, her figure had already vanished.
