Chapter 353: -106- Silver Moon Second Tier
Charlotte issued her orders, and the meeting came to an end.
In two separate directions, the Allied Forces were deployed, with Baron Shalon leading five thousand northward, while the rest of the troops remained encamped near North Port, undergoing routine training.
Training the armies of the Nobles was imperative.
Despite having thirty thousand men, most were conscripted soldiers brought by the Nobles—likely mere farmers from their domains before they had taken up arms; without proper training, their combat effectiveness would be quite pitiful.
Of course, in this era, besides the Transcendents who made up the standing army, most forces were not much different.
After the Nobles departed, Charlotte returned to the study in the Count Mansion. It wasn’t long before Sebastian, having received a prior hint, also came in.
"Master, do you have any orders for me?"
He approached Charlotte and asked respectfully.
"I don’t seem to recall seeing any members from the Viscount Roman Fuer clan at the assembly. What’s going on with them?"
Charlotte asked.
She had wanted to inquire about this at the Council as well.
However, not one Noble in the Council Hall mentioned this pirate-originated Viscount clan, and Charlotte, preoccupied with considering the movements of the rebels, had momentarily forgotten to ask.
Sebastian explained with a strange look on his face:
"Master, this issue was also brought up during the first Noble meeting I convened, and the answer I received was somewhat subtle..."
"The Roman Fuer clan is rather marginalized within Castel. They hardly ever participate in the domain’s meetings and are disliked by other Nobles. Beyond the regular tribute of vassal taxes, they almost never associate with any other Nobles."
Charlotte blanked for a moment before frowning:
"Not attending meetings? But they were present at the banquet I hosted before."
Sebastian’s expression grew even more peculiar:
"Master, that is precisely what puzzles me. To be honest, I had even suspected they had chosen to rebel."
"However, they later sent an envoy to visit the Count Mansion and requested to see you. After I tactfully refused them, they left."
"But while the envoy from Roman Fuer departed, they later sent warships to help defend North Port. If you look out from the window sill toward the harbor, you should be able to see their black ships..."
Hearing Sebastian’s words, Charlotte decisively stood up.
She walked over to the window and gazed toward the direction of North Port. Sure enough, she saw several Caracks, with their imposing black sails, cruising on the sea’s surface.
Vampires naturally possessed excellent vision, and now Charlotte’s ability to see was far superior to before. She could even make out the bustling sailors on the ships, as well as the dark muzzles of the stone-shooting cannons on the ship’s sides.
"This family... has become quite interesting."
Withdrawing her distant gaze, Charlotte stroked her chin and commented.
Sebastian nodded:
"Yes, after Nais was abducted, we even received news from the Mercenary Association that Roman Fuer clan ships had been spotted around the Legris Domain. Because of this, I once suspected they may be collaborating with the rebels."
"But I later found out they had actually gone to Legris to look for you."
"This family... is somewhat peculiar. They may not have a strong sense of belonging to the Castel Domain, but they seem to have quite a vested interest in you. If my guess is correct, once news of your appearance spreads, it shouldn’t be long before members of their family come visiting."
Upon hearing Sebastian’s words, Charlotte grew contemplative.
The Roman Fuer clan came from converted pirates, invariably out of place with Castel’s Nobles, with family roots on an island.
Not only that, their island used to be under the domain of the Romany Duchy, so it was normal for the clan to lack a sense of belonging to Castel.
But as Sebastian stated, Charlotte reflected on her interactions with this family at the Count Mansion banquet and felt their attitude toward her to be indeed quite subtle.
Of course, this didn’t mean they harbored ill intentions.
In fact, rather than suspecting malice, Charlotte felt that their good intentions seemed to be more abundant.
It was they who had first pointed out the assassin at the Count Mansion.
"Nevermind them for now; since they’ve sent a fleet for escort, that at least shows their stance. Sebastian, I am curious about something else, aren’t you worried at all that Nais has been taken?"
Charlotte waved her hand dismissively, then asked with curiosity.
Sebastian smiled and replied:
"I might have been worried before, but now that you’ve awakened, of course I’m no longer concerned."
Charlotte: ...
"You’re getting better and better at flattery."
"I am merely stating the truth... Never mind Nais for now, with your return, the rebellion in Legris is nothing to fear!"
"Enough with the flattery. I have a task for you."
Sebastian’s demeanor became serious:
"Please give your orders."
"Look into the recent merchant ships of the Tulip Count Domain, see if there’s anything amiss."
Charlotte instructed.
Sebastian felt a stir in his heart:
"Do you really suspect that the Third Prince will make a move?"
Charlotte picked up the glass of milk that had been poured on the table and took a light sip, saying,
"Of course, that’s the Third Prince who risked taboo to hire people to ambush me, I have to be a little cautious."
Sebastian said with worried concern,
"Master, if that’s really the case, then the situation in the Castel Domain may become dangerous. Although your power is great, it’s not convenient to reveal your holiness in front of others, and relying solely on mundane power... I’m afraid you won’t be able to contend with the Bold Duchy."
Charlotte smiled slightly,
"When did I say I was relying solely on the power of Castel?"
"Eh?"
A twitch crossed the corner of Sebastian’s eyes, his expression slightly changed.
However, Charlotte did not continue to explain,
"Enough, go investigate the news of Tulip Count Domain, and... if someone from the Roman Fuer clan arrives, bring them to see me immediately."
Although Sebastian was somewhat curious, he ultimately bowed respectfully,
"I will follow your orders diligently."
Sebastian left on his mission.
Charlotte drained the sweet milk from the cup and sighed deeply.
She had been awake for several months, and her domain was indeed in complete disarray, waking up to a face smeared with rebellion, truly headache-inducing.
Fortunately, although taken by surprise, she was not without countermeasures...
Could it be that the rebellious forces had the support of the Bold clan and the Third Prince?
Alright, she had her own pieces in play at the Nais Clan as well.
Compared to the rebellion in her own domain, Charlotte was actually more concerned about her "Crossing" while she was asleep.
That memory was too clear, so vivid that it didn’t seem like a dream at all; Charlotte had "awakened" somewhat abruptly, without leaving any evidence to determine whether it was a dream or reality.
The only possible piece of evidence might have been the nightgown she had taken back with her through the Crossing.
However, after Charlotte woke up, she did not find the nightgown that she had worn before going to sleep.
Lying in the coffin, she was naked, wearing nothing...
At first, she was shocked, thinking the clothing had not crossed back with her, but then she found a layer of powder on her skin and beneath her, resembling the remnants of her disintegrated nightgown.
Not only that, in the instant Charlotte arose, the entire coffin’s silk and muslin, Calming Flower, and Sleeping Rose all crumbled away at once.
Charlotte did not know whether this was related to her Crossing or to her successful ascension to the Silver Moon Second Tier, but leaving the coffin with not a stitch on was indeed quite embarrassing.
It was fortunate that she had chosen a secret chamber as her resting place and had arranged for no one to watch over her, otherwise... the thought alone was mortifying.
Regardless of whether that experience during the Elf Era was a dream or reality, Charlotte was very certain of one thing.
That was, after she had awakened, she had officially stepped into the Silver Moon Second Tier and become the Blood Viscountess!
Perhaps because she possessed the "Blood Holy Scripture," a cheat that allowed her to exert deity-like powers, the joy and sense of achievement brought by ascending to the Silver Moon were not as intense as she had imagined.
Nevertheless, Charlotte could clearly feel that her physical condition and magic power had greatly improved.
If a Transcendent of the Starry Rank could still possibly be assassinated by a mortal using conventional weapons, the Silver Moon Rank completely eradicated this possibility.
Especially in terms of physical fitness.
Not that she could literally become invulnerable to weapons, but it was almost to that extent.
The Silver Moon Second Tier signified a comprehensive metamorphosis in physical fitness; transcendent power had already strengthened her body to its limits and was starting to overflow. The Source Power emitted by Transcendent Knights and the Magic Power wielded effortlessly by Mages came from this as well.
And manifested in the Bloodline, it was the complete integration of body and magic power which vastly enhanced the Bloodline’s recovery ability to an unbelievable level.
To draw a stark comparison, the regenerative ability of Charlotte’s body after injury could almost keep up with her during a Blood Rage.
Unless hit in a vital spot in one strike, she could not be killed.
This was somewhat similar to a Transcendent Knight who had activated Source Power, but the Bloodline’s recovery ability was stronger than that of a Transcendent Knight, and moreover, they possessed magical abilities that a Transcendent Knight couldn’t harness...
Furthermore, with the ascension to Silver Moon, Charlotte’s Bloodline powers seemed to have grown stronger, and her connection to the "Blood Holy Scripture" had become tighter.
Even the Blood Divine Power in the "Blood Holy Scripture" seemed easier to mobilize.
Feeling the powerful force inside of her, Charlotte was quite satisfied.
A cheat was still a cheat, but the true strength was fundamental and also the minimum guarantee for safety.
However, Charlotte was currently not in the mood to find a place to test her new powers.
Rather than that, she was more concerned about Nisi’s situation.
There was no longer an opportunity to verify what happened during her "Crossing" while she slept.
Though she was curious, she could only put it aside for the time being.
As a master, Charlotte felt that she should care about the well-being of that guy Nisi.
Hmm... though based on the Soul Mark, the other party should still be very much alive.
Thinking this, Charlotte delved into consciousness, connecting with the Servant’s Oath Holy Emblem Mark...
