Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel -
Chapter 338: -93- Lilith and Haral
Chapter 338: -93- Lilith and Haral
Halfdan’s tribe was situated on a hillside.
Thatched cottages were scattered about the hillside in a staggered pattern, connected by winding dirt paths that spiraled upwards.
From a distance, one could see the wisps of cooking smoke, cattle and sheep grazing on roots, hunting dogs frolicking, and busy humans clad in coarse beast robes and furs.
However, what most captured Charlotte’s attention was the tower standing atop the hill at the center of the tribe.
Unlike the crude thatched cottages, the tower was built from grey-white boulders, clearly influenced by Elf style, adorned with exquisite reliefs and patterns, and it stood out from its surroundings.
Above the tower, a pale blue crystal floated gently, radiating a misty glow.
Under the warm sun, one could see an invisible light shield like an upside-down bowl, centering around the tower and covering the entire hillside tribe.
Is this... a Mage Tower?
Charlotte paused for a moment.
Although slightly different from the Mage Towers built by the Elf craftsmen in the Castel Domain, she was certain this was a Mage Tower!
"That is the Sanctuary Tower, built by a Lord Apocalypse Heir from the Central Tower, possessing incredible power..."
Following Charlotte’s astonished gaze, Halfdan explained.
The Sanctuary Tower?
Is that what the people of the Northern Border call it...
Charlotte thought contemplatively.
Halfdan then continued enthusiastically:
"Every tribe in the Tower Country has a Sanctuary Tower, and only with a Sanctuary Tower can we survive disasters and magical transformations..."
"The Sanctuary Tower is also where the Lords Apocalypse Heir descend and is also the place of our everyday rituals and offerings. I will take you to meet the Priest Elder who resides there."
With that, Halfdan looked at Charlotte and smiled,
"Lord Apocalypse Heir, let’s go inside quickly; once we enter the domain of the Sanctuary Tower, we will be completely safe."
Hearing Halfdan’s words, Charlotte withdrew her gaze from observing the "Sanctuary Tower."
She nodded slightly and followed Halfdan towards the tribal residence.
As the two advanced along the winding dirt road, the details of the tribe became clearer.
Charlotte could even clearly hear the livestock and poultry and see the smiling faces of frolicking children.
And the moment she crossed the faintly visible protective light shield radiated by the tower, ancient crimson text suddenly emerged in her vision:
"[Blood Holy Scripture detects an ongoing Divine Skill Ritual—]"
"[Magic Name: Moonlight Cage]"
"[Caster: Mage Tower No. 58]"
"[Infected One: Charlotte de Castel]"
"[Magic Effect: Originally ’Moonlight Protection,’ a domain-type protective Divine Skill granted by Moon God Artemis to the Believers, later modified by Elf Priests to include monitoring and punishment effects while maintaining protective effectiveness.]"
"[Based on the Divine Skill effect, Moonlight Cage can be divided into Protective State, Monitoring State, and Divine Punishment State, with the current state being the Monitoring State. Under the Monitoring State, any beings entering the Divine Skill domain will be examined and recorded.]"
"[Interception probability judgment: 100%]"
"[Intercept?]"
...
Identity check and recording?
Charlotte was instinctively inclined to intercept.
In the Mythological Era, although Moon God and True Ancestor were both victors, they were also rivals.
Charlotte had seen records of wars between the Bloodline and Elf Clan in the scriptures.
She was yet unsure about the whole picture of the Tower Country and the Elves’ attitude. Naturally, if she could avoid revealing her identity under such circumstances, she would choose not to.
Passing through the transparent protective light shield, Halfdan relaxed completely.
He turned to Charlotte with a smile:
"Lord Apocalypse Heir, now we are completely safe! I need to go home first, bring back the gains from this trip, and then I will take you to the Sanctuary Tower to meet our Priest Elder!"
Charlotte nodded slightly and said with a smile:
"Thank you."
Following Halfdan, Charlotte entered the tribe.
Halfdan seemed very popular, as residents along the way greeted him, asking about his hunting gains, and Halfdan responded with a smile to each.
And after the greetings, almost everyone’s gaze fell on Charlotte.
She was too noticeable.
Even cloaked in an old fur coat, her innate beauty could not be concealed.
Her soft blonde hair and delicate skin stood starkly different from the weathered tribal people, not to mention the noble demeanor she had been forced to adopt over the year.
"Halfdan, who is this Lord...?"
Looking at Charlotte, the residents instinctively used honorifics, their gaze filled with curiosity.
"This is the Lord Apocalypse Heir I met on the way! She is my guest!"
Halfdan proudly introduced her with his head held high.
"Apocalypse Heir!"
The tribe residents’ gaze shifted instantly.
Their look towards Charlotte moved from curiosity to awe, and many promptly averted their eyes and respectfully bowed.
Charlotte could even hear some low conversations from afar:
"It’s the Apocalypse Heir!"
"No wonder... no wonder she’s so good-looking! Just like a Lord Apocalypse..."
"Halfdan is really lucky, to have met an Apocalypse Heir... This must surely secure his Wild Hunter status, right?"
"Not just securing his Wild Hunter status; if he could get a connection with the Tower, his two poor children might also benefit!"
The residents murmured among themselves, looking at Halfdan with envy.
Charlotte, however, felt a bit uneasy.
Although she guessed that the so-called Apocalypse Heir might refer to a Half-Elf, she herself had no connection with the Elves protecting these Northern Border people.
The villagers were unaware of these intricacies; they were merely highly curious about Charlotte’s identity.
"The name ’Heir of the Apocalypse’ was even bigger than Charlotte had imagined. As Halfdan introduced her, more and more tribal members who had heard the news came to see the spectacle, almost blocking the already narrow path.
Eventually, even Halfdan couldn’t stand it anymore and quickly waved his hands to disperse the crowd:
’Alright! Alright! Don’t crowd here! I still need to take the Lord Apocalypse Heir to meet the Priest Elder in a while!’
It took him a great deal of effort, but Halfdan finally managed to dismiss the onlookers.
’I’m sorry, Lord Apocalypse Heir, many of our clan members have never seen the face of a deity so closely and it must have startled you.’
Halfdan said apologetically.
Charlotte waved her hand:
’It’s okay, I’m used to it.’
She really was accustomed to it, as when she had worshipped in the Holy Royal Court Church, the crowd of onlookers was even more outrageous than now.
With this response, Halfdan respected her even more.
Within his respect, there was even a touch of gratitude:
’Lord Apocalypse Heir, you are truly the most approachable Heir of the Apocalypse I have ever met, and I deeply appreciate your understanding!’
’Please come with me! I’ve got a jar of honey wine at my house that I must have you try!’
Following Halfdan, Charlotte wound up and down until they finally reached a modest courtyard halfway up the hill.
In the courtyard, a relatively young woman with silver hair was feeding the poultry.
Seeing her, Halfdan’s expression softened, and he exclaimed happily:
’Tamia! I’m back!’
On hearing his voice, the young woman trembled slightly.
She slowly turned around and, seeing Halfdan, also showed a delighted expression:
’Halfdan! You’re back!’
With that, she put down what she was doing and ran towards Halfdan happily, embracing him.
After embracing each other for a moment, they separated and faced Charlotte’s curious gaze. Halfdan introduced:
’Lord Apocalypse Heir, this is my wife, Tamia.’
It was then that the young woman noticed Charlotte standing beside them.
A flash of astonishment crossed her eyes, and then she asked, puzzled:
’Halfdan, this is...?’
’This is a distinguished Lord Apocalypse Heir I met on the road and our guest.’
Halfdan said with a smile.
’Ap... Apocalypse Heir!’
Tamia exclaimed in shock.
She couldn’t help but glance at Charlotte’s ears, then quickly stuttered a greeting:
’Lo... Lord...’
’Haha, no need to be so formal, Lord Apocalypse Heir is very easygoing unlike others. Tamia, go and fetch the honey wine I’ve been saving!’
Halfdan laughed.
’Yes! Right away!’
Tamia bowed to Charlotte and then hurriedly turned to go inside.
’Lord Apocalypse Heir, my wife is also seeing someone like you so closely for the first time, thank you for your understanding.’
Halfdan said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
’It’s fine, it’s fine.’
Charlotte quickly waved her hand.
’Come in with me, please take a rest inside.’
Saying this, Halfdan invited Charlotte into the house.
Halfdan’s home was as simple as its exterior suggested, furnished with various utensils but well organized.
Charlotte and Halfdan sat down facing each other by the stove, and soon Tamia returned, bringing a carefully wrapped ceramic jar.
’Lord Apocalypse Heir, please try our honey wine.’
Halfdan took the jar and poured a glass for Charlotte.
Charlotte nodded slightly:
’Thank you.’
She took a sip from the glass, enjoying the sweet and sour taste, quite unique.
’Very nice.’
She commented.
Pleased by the approval, Halfdan beamed with joy.
Then, his gaze swept around the room before he couldn’t help but look towards his wife:
’Tamia, where are Lily and Hal?’
’They? They went out to play.’
Tamia answered.
Just then, a chattering noise came from outside and two small figures suddenly dashed in, shouting:
’Mom! Mom! I heard Dad has come back! And he brought a pretty big sister! Is it true?’
Charlotte looked over and saw two children.
A boy and a girl, both around six or seven years old, the boy with golden hair like Halfdan and the girl with silver hair like Tamia; their pale little faces were full of innocent excitement.
Seeing the two little ones, Halfdan’s gaze softened again:
’Lily, Hal, come here!’
Calling the children to his side, he introduced them to Charlotte:
’Lord Apocalypse Heir, these are my two children, Lily and Haral.’
’Pfft...’
Upon hearing these names, Charlotte accidentally spat out the honey wine she had in her mouth."
