Chapter 557: CLXXXVI. Understanding Heaven is Easy
"Then... let’s start."
Magnus slowly approached Archer.
Archer also got into position.
Everyone watched intently. Magnus, known as the Living Dead, was quite a famous figure, unlike the Black Sail Netherworld People, he was renowned for his chivalry.
Many pirates present recognized that this wasn’t just a minor skirmish, but a duel between experts.
Without a word, Archer made the first move, knowing that Magnus had disarmed his mechanical arm, making his balance unstable with just one arm. If he lost, it would be truly embarrassing.
He fiercely attacked Magnus’s good leg, targeting the cripple’s weak point with a brutal kick.
Despite being disabled, Magnus’s sword skill was unique. Without his right arm to stabilize his balance, he had no choice but to attack wildly.
Facing Archer’s attack, Magnus’s movements were swift and agile. He retreated, spun around, quickly got up from the ground, and lunged forward like a leopard, his sword strikes as violent as a storm.
In an instant.
Grass and leaves flew wildly on the barren ground, the blades of grass cut by the sword’s air currents danced like autumn leaves. The sound of blades clashing, sparks flying.
Archer had no chance to counterattack. From the start, he was overwhelmed, constantly defending himself. Magnus, like a tireless machine, forced Archer into a continuous retreat, completely suppressing him.
Old Man’s liver was very strong, but years of daily drinking didn’t make his body very usable. Barely a few seconds of intense cardio and he was already breathing heavily.
"Wait! Wait!"
Archer hurriedly said as Magnus delivered a heavy blow, knocking Archer to the ground.
Everyone was in shock.
To be honest, no one had much hope for Old Man, but this was too pathetic. Anyone could do better.
Magnus himself was puzzled. What was going on with this guy? It was extremely peculiar. He seemed inept, yet that butchering move earlier was truly extraordinary.
"I wasn’t ready earlier. I haven’t fought in a long time. Give me a minute. The alcohol level in my blood is too high, affecting my performance. My eyes can’t keep up with moving targets. Let me detox a bit, okay?"
Archer, stubborn as ever, was determined to tough it out today.
"Fine, take as long as you need, as long as you can give it your all."
Magnus wasn’t discouraged. There had to be something on this drunkard worth understanding.
Liszt felt a bit embarrassed. He had praised him earlier, but now he was so unimpressive. Forget it, better head back to the bunker for the barbecue.
"Fafna, come over here. I need to talk to you."
Liszt thought Fafna needed some psychological counseling. Don’t worry about killing; executing orders is a soldier’s duty. When a B2 bomber hits the battlefield, a massacre is inevitable. These soldiers are prepared to face death.
"No, I want to watch Archer’s joke."
Fafna said with a playful grin. Some of the spectators were already leaving, finding it boring. Only those with nothing better to do stayed to watch.
"I’m talking about..." Liszt started to say something about life planning, but with the current generation’s aversion to learning, he had to be more persuasive. "I wanted to consult you on future travel plans. Didn’t my wife tell you there are many scenic spots in the world?"
But one sentence from Fafna almost made Liszt spit blood.
"Who is your wife?" Fafna couldn’t believe it. Even though Liszt had shaved his beard, this scar-faced guy who looked like a killer had a wife?
"Dreya and I are registered as a legal couple in the Southern Continent."
Liszt answered calmly.
Fafna was struck by lightning. Dreya, who was such a beautiful lady, "Ah this..."
"Please don’t make that face, will you?" Liszt felt a sharp pain, wondering if he was old or what. He wasn’t the young, vibrant North American Li Xunhuan anymore.
Magnus and Archer were still sparring.
But within ten seconds.
Archer was knocked down again by Magnus. This time, due to a huge mistake, part of Archer’s clothing was torn, making him look rather disheveled.
Old Man was a hardcore native of the Western Continent, notoriously stubborn. He had already triggered a passive mechanical enemy warning, red alert.
"Old Man, that’s not how you fight. Try targeting his center, imagine he’s a Demon Hunter and go at him!"
Rein couldn’t hide his frustration.
Many people were still watching, Archer’s series of actions were quite amusing.
Inside the bunker.
Liszt and Fafna were having a heartfelt conversation.
"You’ve stayed in Heaven Port for nearly a year now. How do you feel about it? Are you satisfied with my hospitality?"
Liszt knew that rigidly ordering people would only provoke rebellious attitudes. It was better to guide slowly, especially with someone as defiant as this girl.
"Satisfied or not, Heaven Port is my home. It’s where my earliest memories began."
Fafna felt a bit sentimental.
"Thank heavens."
Liszt was overjoyed, feeling deeply grateful. This girl understood! She really understood!
"Oh please, you can’t be serious, can you?" Fafna, legs crossed, no ladylike manners, scratched herself inside her shirt while laughing.
Liszt felt a mix of emotions. Was this a lost cause?
Noticing Liszt’s interesting expression, Fafna coughed and said seriously, "Just kidding. I know what you mean. Don’t worry, I’ve understood your determination and ambition. There are two types of people in the world: those who want to use you, and those who want to be used by you. This is the harsh reality of the world. All ideologies and conventions are just different interest groups fighting each other in an endless cycle. If we’re all going to Hell anyway, why not choose the Hell we prefer?"
Fafna spoke from her heart, very sincerely, as Wolman had told her long ago.
And she realized it was true.
This left Liszt silent. Wasn’t this... a bit too mature? The impression of her as an innocent little girl was shattered. This accelerated maturity made him feel like a bad person.
"Or perhaps we should still open a school in Heaven Port. You can study there."
Liszt said calmly.
"You must be joking, Lao Da! Auntie here hates studying the most."
Fafna flicked her silver hair with extreme disdain.
Liszt had to continue patiently persuading her, telling Fafna not to grow up too fast, that she still needed to experience high school life, making him feel like some sort of Aran Military Government lackey.
An hour later.
They were at the restaurant, and the welcoming barbeque feast was ready.
Liszt was driven to madness by Fafna. She was even more abstract than Rein and spoke more explosively than Morison. Her beauty surpassed Shadi’s. There was no saving her!
Fafna, grinning playfully, came out.
Unexpectedly, no one was eating the barbecue outside. Archer and Magnus were still battling, with almost everyone watching, blocking the way.
"What the hell!"
"Old Man... this is unbelievable!"
"Turn it off, it’s really boring!"
"Come on... one-armed brother!"
Liszt was deeply shocked and had to see what was happening.
