Chapter 343: CCCXLIII. Loyalty
Main Tower, tenth floor, a luxurious banquet hall.
Blood splatters adorned all the high-end furnishings, a murder scene within a murder scene.
Mo’er’s surprise gift, the "Chimera" he had crafted, even included living humans. Under the activation of Life Alchemy, coupled with the suppression of rejection reactions by potent drugs, these living beings endured unimaginable pain and were forced to attack Celeste and Ben.
Clearly, Mo’er had picked the wrong opponents.
Ben, being fully capable of defending himself, while Celeste, the general in charge of investigating Fafna, possessed top-tier talents. At her age, her swordsmanship had already reached a profound level.
Though they were living humans, Celeste was resolute in ending their suffering. Her short sword blossomed into silvery white roses, swiftly sealing their throats upon contact with blood. The moment the wounds appeared, their life signs were completely gone. Her mastery of Elemental Magic, akin to "concentration," scattered Wind Blade flame bullets on a large scale.
Bodies of human-shaped monsters lay helter-skelter in the banquet hall, with blood exceeding the height of their boots.
Ben, holding a deck of cards, fanned them out then combined them back into a stack. "This woman is truly reliable."
"Stop playing hide and seek now."
Celeste, tired of this game of hide-and-seek, noted that Fen’s Spiritual Body had already been destroyed by the human-shaped monsters.
She needed to eliminate this troublesome person swiftly, then go to support the man with the disfigured face, also very interested in the so-called secret of the tower.
Unexpectedly, there was no response.
Mo’er, such a dark person. His pure partnership with Doringger was merely for mutual benefit; there was no need to fight to death here. Liszt’s lines had already been penetrated. For Mo’er, his tasks were completed. The rampant pirates on the island were merely on a path to death.
He had already left the main city building, having more important matters to attend to. Just in case, he still awakened one of Doringger’s ultimate powers, for only Doringger could control those monsters.
Once again, hurried footsteps came from the entrance of the banquet hall.
Celeste and Ben turned around to look.
Weber’s Super Heavy Armor and the Big Anvil had residues of human tissue and fresh blood plasma on them. Other Heroic Level adventurers arrived gradually, including Caroso and others.
Inside the castle, the protection of the Guard Team was meager. With less than ten of them, they had easily defeated the guards and arrived here untroubled.
"Where is Liszt? Wasn’t he supposed to follow us in two minutes?"
Ben inquired from Caroso, knowing that Weber wasn’t the sharpest.
"This castle is glaringly empty, just bait. Doringger is probably not inside the castle. Liszt has gone back to the Sea God to intercept him."
Caroso didn’t understand what had happened to Liszt, who had returned from outside. He had swept through the castle’s external Guard Team completely.
"Time is getting tight. The man with the disfigured face is still above, once we finish things here, we must hurry there too."
Celeste made her decision.
At this very moment.
On the edge of the Inner City, at the lines held by a side wing unit, bodies were strewn everywhere, and many shops along the business street were ablaze.
This was the location overseen by Yunheng Mining Company, the ninth unit, but no one was in sight. It took a while to find a survivor from among the corpses.
The front line had been breached.
Shadi’s original plan was to support all the flanks, then consolidate their forces and shatter Horace’s main force, advancing triumphantly.
But it was too late.
Shadi questioned the survivor about the specifics.
"Those guys, they’re not human at all. That’s their main force, and they have many soldiers with superior equipment... We’re no match for them..."
A living member of Yunheng Mining Company, after a pause, finally managed to fully express himself.
Shadi felt some despair. This was even worse than the front line being breached. Doringger, with his Personal Guard, had gone around to the far rear. Could Ox and the others hold on?
"We must immediately return to the far rear, to support the twelfth unit!"
Shadi made a quick decision.
"No, the instructions I received from Celeste are to support the side wing units; I won’t do anything extra."
Chuan Che sternly opposed, unfazed by the name of Doringger, a man who stood at the summit of the East Sea. Taking Celeste’s money and serving under Lostra’s command, could he let pirates lead him by the nose?
Having been here for over a month, he hadn’t seen a shadow of a dragon, and instead had become a complete sucker, marking yet another senseless day.
Gawain attempted to persuade, as a fellow adventurer, Liszt could offer generous rewards, but his realm still fell short.
Shadi interrupted him.
"I am one of the directors of Black Sail Trading Company, vested with supreme decision-making authority. If you can take down the general over there, I can recommend you as an honorary director. You won’t need to invest, just share the profits."
Shadi spoke thus, perhaps offending Hened a bit as he exerted a lot of effort, but it was merely an empty promise. Celeste was already under Liszt’s mind control, and when the time came, they could simply control him directly.
Chuan Che pondered for a moment, realizing Celeste had been brainwashed by Liszt and was likely not leaving Heavenly Port anytime soon.
"I’ll be direct, what if I personally take out Doringger?"
Chuan Che was eager to try, boasting about killing a sea monster bare-handed and singlehandedly pacifying the East Sea over a decade ago. Regardless of how many meals he could eat in a day, how many nails could be hammered by a body of iron? He indeed wanted to see whether it was real or fake.
"That would be impressive."
Shadi didn’t engage with him further, as every step was deadly, and time waited for no one. He immediately assembled the flank troops to support Ox from the rear.
Heavenly Port Pier.
The wind was fierce and the sea, turbulent.
Fen stood at the bow of the Sea God, his mind working at high speed.
"What should we do?"
"First Officer! Give the orders!"
"Ox and his team are almost at their limit!"
The chaotic noise beside him only added to Fen’s already violent and anxious mood.
For some unknown reason, all functions of the Sea God had stopped working, the Magic Ship Cannon was unresponsive, and even if they wanted to leave the seas near Anchor Bay, the sails of the Magic Energy Industry were immobile, and the anchor could not be retracted.
Fen was now completely trapped on it, unable to move an inch.
"Calm down."
Fen hissed quietly; Izumi and Mo Yutong were beside him. He pulled a palm-sized pouch from his clothing, containing Sealing Demon Stones and a Stele.
Doringger’s real forces were now thoroughly entangled with Ox and others, and Doringger himself might join the battle. He needed to locate Doringger and kill him with a single blow.
No one in the world could withstand the King’s Device!
But the noise on the deck only grew louder.
"I have a winning strategy!"
Fen nearly roared, his ultimatum was either his death or dominance over the East Sea today, nothing in between.
Everyone was silenced by Fen.
Raising his arm, Fen summoned a lifelike black raven with threads of dark purple spell power, which flew towards the port, focusing entirely on locating Doringger himself.
The inner part of the Heavenly Port Pier had a fairly wide beach.
Although the Sea God couldn’t fire, the other ships still could, and the 32-pound cannons were devastating.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The coast was blasted into craters, dirt and stone flew, and flesh blurred—nearly a thousand cannon doors from dozens of ships, although official ones were few, and mostly poor-quality pirate cannons.
The noise was deafening, almost tearing eardrums, with a severe ringing like devilish music being poured into the brain, making everything seem muted and allowing only the continual explosions.
Two rounds of fire prevented the people from approaching the shore.
But then.
An unexpected change occurred.
The Sea God’s uncontrollable Magic Energy boiler emitted a violent screech, entering an overloaded state.
The sudden thrust shook everyone on the deck, nearly knocking them to the ground.
As the engine heated up, seemingly fearless of being stranded, it charged straight towards the shore.
The pushed-back waves, ten meters high, threatened to overturn all nearby ships, and amidst the severe turbulence, the cannons, firing in unison, could not be operated.
The Sea God, driving straight under Doringger’s loyal Heaven Port.
