Chapter 338: CCCXXXVIII. Beheading Operation

On the main road.

Certainly, it was the most concentrated area of Chimeras.

Faced with about thirty monsters charging over, even six-barreled machine guns were ineffective, let alone matchlock guns.

The first group, the second group, the third group, the fourth group.

The lines were pushed back step by step—should this defense fail, and Doringger reclaim the Sea God, that would spell utter doom.

Not long after,

Aside from the Chimeras, not a single soul on Doringger’s side had perished, yet on Liszt’s side, combining all defense lines, hundreds had been wounded or killed.

Ka!

Wolman, over three meters tall, leaped into the air, his Double-edged Battle Axe plunging straight into a Chimera’s skull, but the creature, stubbornly tenacious in life, continued to tear at Wolman.

How could they talk of storming the castle, taking Doringger’s head, without dealing with these beasts?

Fen was coordinating the overall battle as a Spiritual Body.

The specifics, however, required Liszt’s command.

Their Special Attack Team was specifically assembled for situations like this.

Including Caroso, the five Holy Persons were overwhelmingly explosive.

Now, people understood what the oldest and most influential church in the history of the Western Continent meant.

One of the Thirteen Saints, Clear Sky with the Thunder Saint Spirit.

They Prayed silently, drawing on the power of the gods, performing "Miracles" that Magicians could never fathom—indistinguishable from Magic Techniques, or perhaps true acts of the divine.

The five had bursts of electricity in their hands; countless golden filaments coalesced into Thunder Guns several meters long. The fierce, hissing electric currents were incredibly violent, piercing through two Chimeras.

Not only did they completely perforate their bodies, charring them, but the Thunder Guns also shot far beyond, directly charring three of Horace’s Heavy Cavalry and their mounts.

A violent ripping through the air.

Violet, a Heroic Level adventurer, kept betel nuts or a cigarette in her mouth, yet her shooting technique was astounding.

Three arrows were nocked on the bow together.

Bursting towards a Chimera, each shot was immensely precise, blinding all three sutured eyes.

Then came seven arrows, each more powerful than a matchlock gun. Seven arrows shot out, each hitting the torso and the moving beastly legs, interrupting its actions.

Weber was purely a brute, wearing Super Heavy Armor, clutching a Big Anvil of over two hundred pounds. Unafraid of charging and biting due to his inches-thick Super Heavy Armor, he charged forward; the anvil in his hands light as foam board, he furiously slammed it into a Chimera, each hit splattering blackened flesh and turning it to blood mist, swinging it with incredible speed.

The Female Mage Nishi, unlike Fen, was a bona fide Arcanist, her staff containing an ether medium for enhancing magical power.

Her Earth Element Magic raised walls of rock to block the Chimera’s assault, and her Ice Magic slowed their speed, significantly impacting the battlefield.

Liszt made a decision; other areas were facing similar straits. He sent Gawain and his Elf to aid other locations with the remaining three Heroic Level adventurers, Shadi, Swan, and Archer, also going to assist.

Celeste thought this was not secure; despite the strength of Heroic Level adventurers and the prowess of Black Sail, it was impossible to quickly support so many places. She ordered all her intelligence personnel to follow them, and also... the Thousand-Armed Shura, Chuan Che.

Bang!

A Chimera’s sheer strength toppled the rock wall set by Nishi, its huge maw tearing forward.

Chuan Che clicked his tongue; he wore a bandage mask, reluctant to show his face. He discarded his cloak, revealing a body covered in silver-gray Magic Rune Construction Arm Armor.

In terms of hand-to-hand combat skills, there were few in the world who could match him.

In the blink of an eye, he darted forward like a meteor, leaping in front of the Chimera, hovering in mid-air.

Pound! Pound! Pound!

His relentless flurry of punches landed within a few breaths, hundreds of fists crushing flesh, each one squeezing out a horrific amount of blood, instantly turning the beast from an orange to muddled mess.

Another Chimera attacked from behind.

A graceful swing of his leg.

Pound!

He kicked the several-ton beast, sending it flying more than ten meters—straight into another Chimera, crushing a metal street lamp, their bodies bursting into a mist of blood and a pile of mush.

Not just those with Liszt, but even some with Horace were stunned. Who was this commander, so ferocious to such a degree?

Only Celeste and the others knew: a Hall-level adventurer, the paramount among the adventurer’s guild, registered less than a hundred in number—all were figures with a shot at the Continent Martial Arts Competition.

"If you say so."

Chuan Che had no choice but to execute orders; he was very impressed, certain that Celeste had been thoroughly impressed by Liszt; otherwise, such an unintelligent order would not have been made.

Momentum had overwhelmingly favored Horace’s side, but now there was somewhat of a reversal.

"Did I let you leave?"

Seeing that the main force of Black Sail was too fierce, Horace launched a cavalry charge, the war horn sounded, and five hundred heavy cavalry trampled forward directly into battle. Behind them, over a thousand elite armored infantrymen, along with the Captain of the Dead Lord and his numerous key subordinates, the Dead Duke Pirate Group, each member possessing overwhelming combat strength, all were people with unique skills.

Iron hooves stamped down, dust and smoke billowing.

There were also over twenty Chimeras advancing in this direction.

Liszt made a quick decision, ordering those men to quickly go support the others. With so many masters gathered here, and thousands of soldiers and the main force behind them, it was more than enough to hold them off.

"There’s no time left, the overall situation is what matters!"

Shadi took command of the support troops, leading Chuan Che, Gawain, and others to reinforce elsewhere.

Nishi erected shields of rock wall after rock wall again, but it was useless. Horace led the charge, his chill Heavy Armor oppressive, carrying an incredibly strange weapon in hand, that seemed a combination of a Riding Spear and a great sword, an exceedingly long heavy weapon, about two meters long.

Former General of Beima.

His presence unparalleled.

Cold strings of Ice Magic crept over, but he simply shrugged his shoulders, shattering them all, every rock wall crushed to rubble amidst the stirring of his weapon.

The first, second, third, and fourth squads, their respective leaders organized their best, setting spears to reject the assault, holding off the charge.

But the vanguard soldiers at the forefront were all trembling with fear. The people up front were just sent to their deaths, how could they possibly hold off the charge? And what of the monstrous Chimeras?

Haywood knew well that if left unchecked, once the cavalry broke through the formation, a slaughter would ensue. His figure rose to five meters, like a blood-red giant, standing in front of Horace, not even trying to dodge.

From the seams of his arms, high-pressure streams of vibrant red quicksand burst forth, three razor-sharp blades, sharper even than a Guillotine, blasted towards Horace.

But the quicksand had only just started to emerge.

"Die!"

Horace raised his spear-sword for a slash, his sword energy peerless, ripping a trench as wide as a bowl in the ground, and from tens of meters away, he severed Haywood’s left arm.

The steed moved swiftly, and in a flash of lightning, he charged in front of Haywood, his spear exploding into his chest, twisting and bursting him into a spray of red quicksand in the blink of an eye.

But this quicksand directly entered the horse beneath him, turning it into a dried husk in less than a moment. Horace was immediately thrown from the horse, but he landed nimbly and stood firm, searching for Haywood’s whereabouts.

Celeste, Morison, Weber, and others, including Caroso, knew of course that the lines couldn’t be allowed to break, but they could only fend off the raging Chimeras.

The remaining heavy cavalry charged towards the various squadrons.

Claude’s sword moved like lightning; even the Magic Puppets on the trains couldn’t withstand his strikes, let alone these cavalrymen. He swiftly cut a heavy cavalryman and his horse into several pieces, blood spraying everywhere.

But even so, they couldn’t stop a swarming charge of cavalry. The first, third, and fourth squads’ front lines had been breached, spears piercing and dragging men several meters, horribly bloody, plunging into chaotic fighting, turning the battlefield into a meat grinder.

Only the second squad, Wolman’s people, had held up.

This gave Shadi and the others a chance to breathe, moving from behind their lines, they went to support the flanking forces.

It wasn’t only because these were all fighters committed to the restoration of their country.

Years ago, during the great rebellion in the Monges Wetlands, the deputy commander of the western district, Yiremu, a Sub-dragon witch doctor, was the high elder of a tribe, a Chief Priest.

His body became countless mosquitoes, flies, scorpions, centipedes, spiders, devouring metal and iron, horrifying to watch, like an insect swarm burying the advancing army of heavy cavalry.

Innumerable venomous insects entered gaps in the armor, gnawing away at the steel until it was all consumed.

Many fell from their horses.

The Sub-dragon people in the rear also began to break through the defenses, attacking the Captain of the Dead Lord and his troops.

The battle descended into complete chaos.

"I’ll hold them here. You go take care of the real business."

Yiremu’s swarm of insects overwhelmed the army, slaughtering twenty or thirty heavy cavalrymen in an instant, not even allowing time for screams, approaching Liszt and the others, gradually taking human form again from the sea of insects.

Liszt nodded.

Doringger’s whereabouts were currently unknown.

According to Ben.

They just had to go to the main tower inside the castle, Doringer would never let anyone enter there.

Liszt, Morison, Celeste, along with Ben, and the three including Weber, along with the people from the Holy Spirit Church, took advantage of the inner vacancy, to behead Doringger.

Now him.

Infinite strength surged through his limbs and bones, overwhelming spell power filled every one of his blood vessels.

He himself would go and claim the head of Doringger.
