Chapter 184: CLXXXIV. Wild West Outlaw

Mu Ran and the train conductor had already entered the tunnel up ahead.

Mid-November.

It was the coldest time of the year, the chill wind biting to the bone.

The nobles on the train had initially thought little of the situation, confidently believing it was a fuel issue. The scenery here was beautiful, with white reeds undulating like floating clouds in the sky, and waiting for a while seemed no bother.

Until they heard the rustling sound of hooves, bizarre howls like those of the Cannibal Tribe snapping their mouths, the savage and cruel bloodthirsty cries.

All the passengers looked out the windows.

Dust clouds kicked up by hoofbeats, more than fifty in number, masked horse bandits were plunging down from the hillside.

There was no plan.

Kill anyone in the way, purely for the sake of intimidation, to seek wealth.

Liszt didn’t know why the train hadn’t entered the tunnel, where they could have corralled all the security forces and slaughtered them in the dark. Even though the situation was different from what he had expected, it wasn’t the time to hesitate.

The longer the delay, the greater the chance of change.

It was just a train, not the Imperial City’s Royal Court.

His men, every one a hero, these riffraff, only deserved to be slaughtered chaotically.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

About fifty matchlock guns fired simultaneously, and in an instant, gun smoke billowed. More than thirty bullets hit the carriage windows, shattering them promptly, glass shards exploding everywhere.

Noble ladies and daughters aboard the train had already started screaming. Under the threat of imminent death, all their high-end fashion and refinement were nothing but trifles in a sewer.

There were fifty security guards on the train, all handpicked from the military, the backbone of Aran’s regular army, with astonishingly quick responses.

There were five captains, all officers drawn from the National Defense Police Team.

"Enemy attack! All personnel on alert, hold the carriages, don’t let a single bandit in!"

A Security Captain, a tough character with strong judgment, instructed all the nobles to lie down, not to move rashly.

He and the other security guards quickly split to either side, crouching behind the window sills, each wielding a precision-targeted rifle, poking their heads out and firing at the bandits outside.

In an instant, a hail of bullets rained down, seven or eight horses were shot, riders and mounts toppling over, several pirates hit by gunfire.

For this ruthless task, Morison had specially customized a new piece of equipment. He mounted his horse and leapt, his Hook precisely anchoring onto a security guard inside the window.

Because the Hook’s mechanism itself had little power and was semi-automatic, with inner gears finely tuned—the stronger the arm, the greater the penetrative force.

It shot straight through the security guard’s chest. The barbed claws anchored onto his back, and with a tug, he slammed against the broken window, and Morison had entered the carriage.

There were eight other security guards in this carriage, all quickly drawing their blades.

But they were no match for Morison.

Speed was unbreakable.

Morison swirled his crocodile leather coat, and the Flying Knives bloomed like peacock feathers, their precision unimaginable.

The guards’ heads were successively pierced by the Flying Knives, with such force that their frontal bones burst open, the knives passing through and nailing their scalps to the carriage’s steel walls.

This was a dining carriage, with elegant tables still laid with fresh, seasonal fruit platters.

Morison picked up a peeled red tangerine and chewed on it.

"Feasting on this will land you in Hell."

He finished speaking.

The Security Captain had just avoided the Flying Knife, also an Officer, twisting midair, a sword flying down with the force of a torrent.

Crack!

The iron whip blade was drawn, and it was torn in mid-air... cut in half, blood spouting, fighting to rush out, splattering the ground, organs spilling out.

Not all these nobles were weaklings. Although the women were all cowering and trembling on the floor in extreme panic, several Lords had drawn their firearms and pulled the triggers on Morison.

Clang Clang Clang!

With the speed of a phantom, Morison flicked out a sharp dagger from his sleeve, casually dancing it about, deflecting the bullets.

"How is that possible?"

One noble staggered back a few steps. Such strength was not that of an ordinary bandit. There had been forethought, and they were bent on success.

"Gentlemen, do not panic. We’re only after your money; no one wants it to turn into robbery and murder."

Morison’s gaze swept over the noblewomen on the floor, each one lavishly dressed and bedecked in jewels. During the commotion, one appeared to have spilled her handbag.

Spilling out of a Duguli custom-made handbag were two or three hundred gleaming Golden Dragons.

"Using it means death anyway," Morison sneered, knowing that the show was really just getting started as five towering figures approached.

The most formidable security on the train wasn’t these Security Guards. The Aran Lords, after all, had to hire experts to watch their estates.

"Without Hall-level strength, I advise you not to act rashly. Within five seconds, I’ll kill... all of you."

Morison was in a hurry, needing to cut through here quickly to assist the other carriages.

Fen, along with Izumi and Claude, had already headed to the train’s head. They would take complete control of the train.

The rest were only responsible for eliminating the security forces in the carriages to the point where they dared not resist.

In another carriage.

Because the incident was so sudden, the normal carriages had a single aisle down the middle with private compartments on either side. As this was a nobles’ special train, considerations for privacy were a must, which also made Black Sail’s job a lot trickier.

"Don’t resist, we’re only after... the money."

Meredith, donning a face mask, was amazed she could even utter these words as her Riding Spear pierced through a Security Guard’s scapula—she had become a thief.

Click!

Gawain cut through the mess with swift and decisive strikes, not giving any of the Security Guards a chance. With dual Curved Swords dancing in his hands, he shredded flesh and chopped bone into pieces, leaving blood in pools.

Meredith was extremely surprised, not knowing what Liszt had said to him that changed him so much.

Gawain had no choice but to do so, Liszt... was just too malicious.

Mika, as the most important logistics support, didn’t participate in the fighting, watching over the escape horses with two pirates. This too was a priority task.

Inside other carriages.

Liszt and his group were on a killing spree.

Because the compartments on either side were separated by partitions, Shadi used Zahak’s sword to slash all the wooden walls to pieces, revealing the faces of terrified nobles one after another.

With Lu using Ice Magic to slow down the Security Guards’ movements.

Crack!

Rein’s claws, like the grim reaper, sliced through one throat after another, facing an Officer of Security Captain rank.

But Black Sail.

Wasn’t known for playing fair.

Shadi’s equipment, enhanced with a red arc, flew out in a slash. The Security Captain dodged nimbly, but Rein pounced forward, clawing towards the throat only to be blocked by the broadsword.

Shadi returned with another offensive. Outnumbered, Rein’s claws had already pierced into the Captain’s chest, ripping the heart out and crushing it into a mist of blood between his palms.

All the nobles were terrified by such cold-blooded brutality.

Inside a carriage in the front section.

Bang!

Liszt’s iron anvil smashed the Security Captain’s upper body outright, blood splattering like an exploding tomato, covering the ceiling.

It drenched all the nobles in the carriage.

Liszt himself was shocked by the force, disgustingly ferocious.

"Everyone please calm down, the Guests of the gentlemen, also listen to me for a moment. We’re only here for the money, let’s not spoil the mood over a little cash," Liszt said calmly.

A red-haired noble in the water bar had never been threatened like this before. If he compromised, he would become a laughingstock, yet he had hired a Heroic Level adventurer as a bodyguard.

"Is that so? You people, I know all too well. Greed never ends. Don’t give in, my friends. Once you let them have a foothold, they’ll completely control you, taking you hostage without a second thought."

The red-haired noble gestured, signaling his expert to go chop Liszt to pieces.

"Stubborn, aren’t you?"

Liszt turned ruthless, realizing he had to kill one or two nobles to open the gentlemen’s eyes.

At this very moment.

In the crew compartment.

Mo Yutong, of course, saw the horse bandits swoop down and heard the sounds of battle from the other carriages.

Including the other two alumni here, they had never imagined such a situation.

Who are these people?

This was no longer just about having guts. This was... madness.
