Chapter 166: CLXVI. East Sea Righteous
The dancer spotted Liszt and his companion, clutching at them like a lifeline.
She didn’t recognize Morison.
But Liszt was simply too memorable, his beard practically had "Triad Gang" written all over his face.
What intrigued her was this:
How could a pirate appear so boldly at a private exhibition? They needed to be a noble or show eight hundred Golden Dragons as capital if they were a big-shot to enter.
After all, this was Duguli’s most upscale type of exhibit.
These nouveaux riches really did have money.
Luckily, she’d done a bit of homework the day before, out of curiosity about this band of pirates. It was rare for seafaring folk to come inland, as typically those with bounties left the land and sought refuge with the Cross Alliance in their base in Duguli. She’d done some research.
And not to look was to overlook the fact that they were the Black Sail Pirate Group, notorious on the East Shore.
Moreover, there were more than just a few of them—this guy named Liszt was the captain, and they had accomplices scattered elsewhere.
The dancer concocted a plan.
"I can redeem myself with a meritorious deed! I know where the pirates are hiding, infiltrating Aran, about to pull off a big job!"
The dancer was just bluffing.
"Ugh... what a mad woman, you can go tell that to the Judicial Hall."
The security staff called for iron shackles, as using a rope to tie up a lady was inelegant, and she still had to be treated as a criminal.
Of course, the dancer wasn’t really addressing them, but rather Liszt.
Both men preparing to leave quickly had their pupils shake.
Liszt was already making a quick getaway—one he hadn’t thought would be spotted by this damned harpy. He was starting to get really angry, oh all right, you want to play it like that.
From now on, you’re Wolman’s wife, and overstuffing you to burst isn’t an issue.
Liszt had been around Beima Duchy for many years.
There was some under-the-table dealing, but he didn’t know if that was a possibility in Aran.
A criminal could be purchased by nobles to serve as a retainer. As long as the crime wasn’t anything too outrageous, like rebellion, they could be bailed out.
Aran’s laws were strict, but since she hadn’t been taken in yet, the situation could still be settled privately.
He immediately expressed his needs to Sefer, who was at his mercy; with his reputation, naturally, he could negotiate with the organizers to have the woman released.
Sefer exhaled deeply, fearing that these people’s demands would only grow more outrageous.
"Think about your family, your daughter."
Liszt calmly stated.
Sefer had no choice but to agree; he negotiated with the organizers, claiming the female thief was an old friend and that, for his sake, she should be released to him, even offering one hundred Golden Dragons as a gesture of apology.
Liszt was in extreme pain, his heart bleeding—he had just lost one hundred Golden Dragons, all of which were his own money. The penalty from earlier had already irked Liszt, and now this was a must-pay, though he reconciled himself to it.
But this woman, who screeched her away to one hundred Golden Dragons less in his pocket, would have to work it off. He would make her sleep around like crazy back at Heaven Port. Given her quality, a few hundred times, with some intense work over less than half a year, would earn it back.
As the female thief hadn’t gotten away with anything and Sefer indeed had some clout, and as the officials hadn’t taken her yet, it could still be dealt with privately.
Liszt had no choice but to reluctantly take out one hundred Golden Dragons from his wallet, parting with them with great reluctance.
"Duke, you still seem quite spirited,"
joked the person in charge of the event, thinking Sefer had taken a fancy to the female thief and wanted to take her home for a good time that evening. Because upon closer inspection, she was, indeed, a fine beauty—her figure was extremely well-proportioned, accentuating her allure. Add a fiery dance to the mix, then a round in bed—this was how a man should live.
Sefer could only give an embarrassed smile, his palms sweating profusely, and he just hoped this nightmare of a day would end soon.
The dancer’s cunning plan succeeded, and the security staff loosened her ropes. She trotted over to Sefer and latched onto his arm.
Liszt’s eyelid twitched, seeing her true colors.
Morison, on the other hand, found it all immensely entertaining—such fiery water was sure to be incredibly smooth.
The dancer had escaped a close call and would have to think of another way to get away from these people later. Duguli was a difficult place to blend in, perhaps going back to Ji Weng would be better.
Five minutes later.
A group of people returned to the private room where Swan was, the deal was done, and the Junlin Sword was acquired—it was time to make a swift exit.
Mika was still waiting at the entrance of the slum hotel, by now he most certainly had summoned someone to book a long-distance carriage pulled by earth dragons, heading straight for Yunxi City.
No coachman would refuse such a profitable job; the trip to Yunxi City from here was not short, taking five or six days one way. Completing this job meant not worrying about food and drink for at least a couple of months.
When the Dancing Lady saw the scene inside the private room, her soul nearly fled in terror.
She had thought Liszt was a lapdog doing errands for Sefer, but it turned out that these desperados had kidnapped Sefer.
"Why is she here?"
Swan recognized the dancing lady from the night before last at a glance.
"Oh, this is our newly purchased slave; everyone on the ship can enjoy her," Morison said calmly, then turned to the Dancing Lady and added, "Having seen all this, you can’t walk away now. Actually... spending your survival in a big jail might have been a better choice. We have plenty of people on our ship; there’s no end to the men you’d have to serve in a single day."
The Dancing Lady immediately turned as pale as death.
But Morison was just scaring her for fun. He knew Liszt’s character well; introducing this woman to the real Gawain—or rather, the real Weber—to bear a child could be a lucrative addition to the crew.
He had learned to anticipate the answers.
"Stop scaring the young lady. That’s one option. I can also play matchmaker and introduce you to a marriage prospect,"
Liszt believed that such a high-quality item should naturally be offered to Old Wei. An old bachelor of his age would be invigorated by such a fiery and enticing lady.
"Now that we’ve got what we came for, there’s no need to linger. Kill them all to silence them."
Swan drew his dagger with ruthless determination.
Sefer felt his blood run cold and hurried forward to prevent the blade from cutting his daughter.
Swan made a reverse slash.
He created a bloody gash on Sefer’s arm, blood gushing out, dripping to the floor.
Liszt quickly intervened.
"Stop, we should still honor our word."
Of course, Liszt wanted to kill them, but the situation did not allow it. Where could he hide the bodies after killing them? The authorities would come following right behind, especially now that they were at the exhibition.
Everything depended on robbing the train.
"Mr. Sefer, our cooperation has been very pleasant, but the brothers are really scared. After we leave, you’ll rush to report to the authorities. We have to be cautious,"
Liszt said with a worried frown, "So, we’ll take your daughter as a hostage. Once the heat is over, we’ll send her back."
He didn’t really give Sefer a choice.
But now Sefer was truly enraged. These pirates taking a woman back, he dared not even think of what they might do. How could he hand her over to them?
He wasn’t someone to be trifled with, either.
"The money I lost today is but chump change to me, around four thousand Golden Dragons, and the Junlin Sword, I can accept that loss. But if you plan to take my daughter, you might as well kill us all here and see if you have the guts. I have some status after all, and I have already determined my heir. If you want an all-out war to the death, be my guest,"
Sefer said sternly, standing firm with his cane.
Liszt clicked his tongue and gave Swan a meaningful glance.
Swan immediately got the hint, doused a wet cloth with liquid sedatives, and before Sefer could even react, he blocked Sefer’s mouth and nose with it, causing him to collapse.
"Take the lord’s daughter with us, and... Miss Dancing Lady."
Liszt also let out a sigh of relief; today was all about skillful execution.
Dammit, the trial run for the train hadn’t started yet, but upon reaching Yunxi City, the first wave should be underway, right?
Just to be safe.
To prevent Sefer from going mad.
Liszt also left a note, stuffed it into the pocket of Sefer’s clothes.
The importance of reputation was now displayed.
Anyway, Sefer wouldn’t report to the authorities for a while, but would surely be anxiously inquiring about news, finding Black Sail was only a matter of time.
[Inquire about Black Sail. We are the East Sea Righteous. We seek wealth without harming lives. The incident at Blue Bay Port was but to eliminate a menace for the people. Stay put at home. You’ll surely recognize your daughter’s handwriting. I will have her send letters regularly to the Southeast Province, to the Lord’s grand house.]
"Alright, let’s go now."
Liszt raised his hand, proceeding next, to Yunxi City.
