Chapter 100: C. Sisterhood Deep
Chapter 100: C. Sisterhood Deep
Liszt’s hand holding the cigarette trembled ever so slightly. Dreya’s smile, while charming, sent a chill down Liszt’s spine, as he feared some tricks were up her sleeve.
Claude and Swan sat awkwardly in their seats, finally understanding why the others had fled so quickly, realizing it was a chaotic scene; jumping off a building would have been preferable to this.
But it was too late.
The aura of the red-haired woman was terrifyingly strong; it felt like even the sky outside had darkened, and now they didn’t dare to leave.
"Um, I suddenly remembered I have some things..."
Swan couldn’t take it anymore, afraid he would soon be splattered with blood.
"I’ve just ordered a special platter from the best snack shop nearby, very expensive, it should be delivered any minute now. What’s the matter? Is it urgent?"
Dreya sat with elegance, slowly swirling her wine glass, her tone indifferent.
"Ah... well, it’s not that urgent."
Swan was stunned. It was his first time returning to Heaven Port, and he’d never heard of such a person before. From the conversation between Liszt and her, their relationship seemed very subtle, not something that could be explained in just a few words. It was as if he’d walked into a disaster.
Claude, truly a noble by birth,
mastered the art of slipping away naturally, pretending to pick something up from the floor. He was about to succeed, having left his seat and was silently distancing himself from the battlefield.
"Sit down."
Dreya said calmly.
"Alright."
Claude’s plan failed, and he sat back down expressionlessly, each passing second an agony, wondering if Goria’s arrival would bring a bloodbath.
He knew about the crew voting for who became Goria’s fellow on Black Sail, where everyone competed fairly. The one with the best performance and highest favorability was obviously Liszt.
Mika and Rein had been complaining daily on the boat about not being able to unleash their charm, unable to effectively deal damage, claiming the He Transmutes Freedom Method was a cheat, truly an Emperor’s Skill.
It was clear that Liszt was in a dire situation.
"What on earth do you want? We’ve got serious business to attend to. Hurry up and go back. Do you know people on the street began fighting with us earlier? Go home, it’s dangerous here, big sister."
Liszt wanted to send Dreya away quickly, but the mad woman had grasped his weak spot, somehow knowing about the Dragon matter; it was a real curse.
"I’m here for serious business too," Dreya spoke, circling Liszt’s chest with her finger. "Apart from me, who else would care for you, a bandit like you?"
Claude managed a bitter smile, wishing someone would just kill him to liven up the scene for these two.
"What serious business could you possibly have?"
Liszt knew that although this woman appeared to be twenty-four, her mental age was monstrous,
"I’ve seen a few dragons myself, I can help you judge."
Dreya whispered into Liszt’s ear.
Liszt was shocked; indeed, the mad woman was like a living history book. She had once boasted to him that she had seen the author of "Acania Travelogue" in person,
a man not much different from a vagabond, unrecognized in his talent, with a slight reputation in his lifetime but not favored in the literary circles of the time, perhaps ostracized because of his exceptional talent. He was so upright that he criticized anyone as trash, despised by people and dogs alike, on par with Archer. Yet after his death, he was exalted to the status of a deity.
"Were you an adventurer before or something?"
Liszt was surprised that Dreya, a hermit, had seen Dragons.
"If you want to know, it depends on how you perform, whether you’re still entangled with that woman or not."
Dreya emphasized the last four words heavily.
Thud... Thud...
Heavy footsteps resounded from the staircase, like a death knell.
It wasn’t just Goria; even Dragon Lady had been brought down for air.
Fen took on the role of the host of the chaotic scene, settling Goria into her seat and beginning the guest introduction segment.
"This is the Captain’s first wife, Lady Dreya."
"This is the former Heroic Level adventurer, the Moon Wheel Knight, Goria."
Fen seemed unflappable on the surface, but inside he was sneering crazily.
Liszt nearly threw up. General Fen had truly turned traitor. Do you really wish for my death?
As an innocent child, Fafna wasn’t minded by Fen. She found the bar stools at the counter more fun, spinning around on one without coming over.
Liszt felt as if he were struck by lightning.
Damned discerning eyes of God, Dreya’s gaze did not even wander toward the Dragon Lady; all her attention was focused on the adventurer celebrity, Goria.
Goria now was not the same as when she was injured and hassled on the ship; she had rested well for one whole day, with a radiant glow to her. Her pale green hair and spring-like eyes were as enchanting as ever, bursting with vitality.
Goria was just like Claude.
Their worldviews shattered.
How on earth could Liszt, this thief of a man, have such a beauty, so perfectly elegant and proper, as a wife?
"It’s like this..."
Liszt hadn’t even had the chance to use his He Transmutes Freedom Method.
"Your hair looks so pretty! Is it dyed, or is it naturally like this?"
"It’s natural. What about you? This pale green... it feels so ethereal! I’ve always wanted to try this color palette!"
"It’s because I practiced a special Magic. I didn’t want it; I actually prefer red. Your bag... what leather is that? The gloss and texture are so good!"
"Do you like it? They don’t sell them here, but I have more at home, I can give you one."
"How could I take such an expensive gift?"
"It’s nothing; my home is full of them. Your hands... such beautiful, slender, and fair hands, how can you not do something about your nails?"
The two women hit it off immediately.
The scene was not the terrifying turn of events everyone had imagined; everyone present turned to stone.
Liszt took a deep drag of his cigarette, realizing he might have been overconfident about his own charm, just a mere tool, really.
At this point, the pastries had been delivered from the shop, packaged exquisitely. Opening them revealed golden, flaky pastries and other tempting treats.
"Wow! Can I eat these?"
Fafna’s saliva was practically flowing out from under her mask.
"Please... help yourself."
Fen was not too pleased. What kind of turn of events was this? Where was the chaotic scene? Hell?
Dreya and Goria were chatting so enthusiastically that within two minutes, they were already planning to go shopping together. As the hostess, Dreya was set to take Goria to check-in at all the popular spots.
Fafna snuck away to a corner, lifted her mask slightly, and stuffed all the pastries into her mouth in a few bites.
Swan’s eyes narrowed, astounded by her eating speed.
Caroso also came down at this time, his gaze cold as he looked in Dreya’s direction. It was clear that she was a Vampire, but now wasn’t the time for that. He took a reluctant Fafna back to their room.
The two women continued their deep conversation, completely ignoring everyone else, and left the inn to go shopping.
"Hehe." Not wanting to lose face, Liszt pointed in the direction they had left and added, "A sham marriage, sharing life as partners, it’s very normal."
"So that’s how it is..." After reflecting for a moment, Fen began discussing other matters, "Fish Seller Fei and Mad Tiger were told yesterday. I asked them to keep an eye on people coming from Lost. I also visited the port, telling those fellows to be on the lookout for incoming ships."
Even though each of these pirates received a share of more than one Golden Dragon, they were certainly all very frugal, preferring to sleep on the ship if they could.
"That’s good. In ten more days, Swan will proceed with the plan. Next, we just wait for their people to arrive, and then..."
Liszt made a throat-slitting gesture, the island is full of my people, who can compete against me?
