[BL] Accidentally Becoming the Healer of the Deranged Archduke
Chapter 301: The Trickiling Sand in the Hourglass

Chapter 301: The Trickiling Sand in the Hourglass

Darius flicked Xion’s forehead and the smile on his face widened.

This was the first time anyone had seen His Grace smile so much in one day, especially after being touched so openly.

The abacus in guests’ minds was turning at full speed, considering the value of this black-haired beauty, but none were as fast as the Archduke himself.

Thinking about the wedding night, Darius somehow managed to rein himself in.

He helped Xion walk toward the center of the platform, his palm lingering on the thin waist. With a heavy sigh, he forced his attention elsewhere.

Even if news of the king’s death spread now, it would change nothing.

More than anything, he was interested in watching the expression on Nikolai’s face.

Firstly, Nikolai’s dear royal uncle had died. Now that was within the prince’s expectations, but the timing was wrong.

The hedonistic prince couldn’t openly declare the wish to fight for the throne now, nor could he delay Silas’s coronation.

Not to mention that Darius married Xion with the help of Silas.

Imagining Nikolai tearing his golden hair in frustration, the smirk on the Archduke’s lips widened even more.

There was no greater happiness than having your love rival face defeat from every side.

Darius was so ecstatic.

Meanwhile, Xion lightly pressed his chest. His heart was beating far too fast again. Too much attention, maybe. Or nerves.

He glanced at the crowd before him and blinked. His vision momentarily blurred, as if he hadn’t slept sufficiently in days. Well, considering the previous night, he really hadn’t.

The blurriness passed just as quickly, his vision sharpening like nothing had happened.

When he turned around to address the people present, his throat dried. He was only good at giving medical presentations, not marriage speeches!

Luckily, Darius came to save him. The Archduke simply gave the waiting minister a simple nod and led Xion toward their seat.

Xion felt his lips twitching upward. Ah, the feeling of having power was sweet.

With Darius beside him, the world had started to bend in his favor a little more easily.

As soon as he sat on the comfy cushion, he casually glanced at the people. Their faces clearly showed their inner turmoil.

But as Xion thought, no matter how dissatisfied or envious they were of Darius’ power, they could only put on a polite smile and raise their cups to toast the newly wedded couple.

Xion didn’t drink again. He didn’t want to get drunk and cause a mess. So, his share was also given to Darius.

The Archduke, as the head of the Darkhelm household, had to talk with some important guests.

"I’ll be back soon. If you’re bored, call for me—or just walk around. No need to suffer through conversations with people you don’t like, alright?"

While he instructed, he didn’t forget to drop a gentle kiss on Xion’s forehead.

Xion nodded. "Mhm."

He’d been seated for a while now, and oddly, his back felt a little numb. Even his legs felt heavier than they should. He chalked it up to wearing too many layers of ceremonial silk.

So, when Darius didn’t come back for more than half an hour, Xion stood up and decided to take a slight walk.

He might as well greet a few ministers. Courtesy demanded at least that from him.

But as soon as he stepped down from the platform, all eyes turned to him. And unlike earlier, the gazes were... hopeful?

In mere moments, he was surrounded by a cluster of older ministers.

The foreign affairs minister, followed closely by the head of internal security, practically beamed at him.

They were a bit too excited as they thanked Xion for his commendable help.

Xion tilted his head in confusion, "...Huh???"

The forgetful healer had somehow overlooked the fact that he’d created the antidote for the plague.

But how could they not remember it? It not only allowed them to stand on their high moral ground, it even helped them earn more!

Xion’s outburst in the court that day had terrified the poor old man so much that he immediately tightened the security.

This time it was His Grace Xion, but what if?

After that, they really ended up catching a few rats lurking within the castle!

Thinking like this, the old minister was truly grateful. If not for the healer’s reminder, his head would be the one hanging on the wall of criminals.

Xion smiled politely. Internally though, he was still confused and was still trying to keep up with their enthusiasm.

"I’m just glad everyone is safe. Please... take care of your health. Winter is hard on the bones. I have special remedies for chills and colds. If you are interested, I’ll make it for you in a few days."

That last sentence had half the circle of dignitaries tearing up.

What a kind, considerate soul! So unlike the menacing Archduke they served! That was the collective inner voice—one that even matched frustrated Ray’s, who was forced to do the sweet-talking with dignitaries.

"We thank His Grace for his generosity!"

After years under the Archduke’s cold aura, Xion’s gentleness felt like a goddess’s blessing to the ministers.

So warm, so nice...

How could someone not like such a lovable youngster?

The old foxes exchanged glances and then subtly nodded to each other.

If His Grace made things difficult for this sweet child, they would give him hell in court.

Poor Darius had no idea that his most impenetrable political shield, his loyal ministers who couldn’t be swayed by money or power—were now so easily smitten with his husband.

If he knew, he might have smiled helplessly... after throwing the minister out of the castle, of course.

After all, wasn’t he already the most hopeless of them all?

But who said he was going to hurt Xion? They truly had no idea just how fiercely, how hopelessly, he loved his Xion.

The Archduke was impatiently willing the sand to trickle in the hourglass faster. He was much too willing to kick all these people out and for the night to fall.

Who would have thought that the wedding night he was waiting for so eagerly, he would have to spend alone?
