[BL] Accidentally Becoming the Healer of the Deranged Archduke
Chapter 128: Avoid Disaster While Doing... Nothing?

Chapter 128: Avoid Disaster While Doing... Nothing?

"I almost thought you had vanished in search of your muse again."

A beautiful lady, dressed in lavish clothes and expensive jewelry joked with Nikolai, who, like a perfect prince, showed just the right amount of tilt in his lips.

"I have already found my muse." His golden gaze, burning like the sun, fell on the young man dressed in a light blue suit.

It perfectly hugged his small frame like a gentle embrace, and Nikolai wanted to replace that cloth with his arms.

He wanted to hold Xion close, just the way he does with his most perfect paintings, and admire him at his leisure.

Whether it was the way he silently gazed at the people with his wide blue eyes or the way he occasionally leaned over to speak with the taller, brown-haired alchemist, every one of his actions embodied perfection.

His perfection was effortless, unlike the practiced, artificial kind Nikolai had mastered.

"Oh my!" the lady exclaimed. Her mysterious complete white eyes gave the illusion of lighting up when she recognized who the muse actually was. "Is he not the advisor of His Grace, The archduke?"

Just the mention of Darius had irked him; however, there was not a single flaw in his answer.

"Truly. Nothing can hide from your beautiful eyes, my lady. He is indeed the advisor of the archduke," he added after a brief pause, "for now, that is."

The lady seemed stunned before she broke into laughter. Not an unruly one. No one would laugh like that, especially when the party was organized by the royal family.

It was a polite laugh. The thin folding fan perfectly hid the curve of those seductive red lips. However, those bright amber eyes seemed to glow with fiery light.

"I did not expect you to dig someone’s corner, your highness."

Nikolai raised his brow, "Then what do I look like?"

He had asked it in a joking way. But both parties knew each of their words spoken held a different meaning.

The lady leaned in slightly so only the prince could hear her gentle voice, "You, my prince, look like the type who would trap their person where only they could see. Where would you have the patience to slowly make your move now?"

There was a strange light in Nikolai’s eyes, and his perfect smile almost cracked. It was really the truth.

I am impatient... So much so that he had actually considered siding with the old emperor this time.

And that meant he would support the war. Just so he could keep the pretty doll by his side.

Honestly, he did not have any other intention. He really just wanted to keep Xion where he could see, like many other beautiful things he had collected.

And Xion? Oh, he would be the most exquisite one of them all!

"I would suggest you be careful though." The lady had already backed up to maintain a respectful distance between them. "The voices whisper that the advisor is very dear to the archduke."

Nikolai’s gaze was on Xion. Silently enjoying the way the young man’s eyes lit up with mischief when he forced Allen to try new desserts which the alchemist obviously found too sweet for his taste.

"What else those voices of yours say, dear priestess of the night?"

The lady waved her hand at the notion, "Oh come on, don’t call me that now. I have been kicked out of church for years."

"And that was their biggest stupidity." Nikolai knew just how powerful the lady actually was.

Unlike the greedy high priests, she was one of the rare few who genuinely cared for the common people.

No one knew how she did it, but she always knew everything. It was as if the air itself was telling her all the secrets.

It was fortunate that the church believed she had lost her power; otherwise, they would have hunted her down even after dismissing her from her position.

"Goddess has taken her power back from the sinner."

That was the reason they used to dismiss her and appoint Princess Talia as the new priestess.

Nikolai had always been opportunistic. He very cleverly seized the chance.

And the Priestess of the Night was the best of them all.

"Just a piece of advice from someone who has used your help, Your Highness." Lady Night tilted her head slightly and the earring in her ear shone like a bloody moon.

"That sweet soul is under the direct protection of the goddess. One scratch on him, and you will suffer the wrath of both the Goddess... and His Grace."

That stunned Nikolai.

No one would be stupid enough to challenge the Goddess, who governed the cycle of life and death, nor would anyone have the courage to go against the church.

That reminded Nikolai of the only person who was both crazy and powerful enough to do so.

Darius...

Nikolai chewed on the name as if it were rotten flesh in his mouth. It was both an annoying and hopeless situation.

"Is there no other way?" Nikolai could only ask, yet his heart already knew the answer.

"If you want to die the horrifying death then be my guest." Saying her part, Lady Night swung her hips and left the prince alone.

Nikolai glanced at Xion who was now sitting in the corner with the glass of beverage in his hand.

Fine. I won’t fight for what does not belong to me.

Even as his chest clenched, he resolutely decided to let Xion go. No beauty was worth more than his own life, was it?

If Lady Night had said so, then there really must be no way. However, that had only made his anger against Darius tenfold.

If he could not snatch the doll away from Darius then he would make sure that the archduke had to bow to him.

He slowly looked at the stage where two thrones were decorated for the King and queen.

King, huh...

Xion, on the other hand, had no idea what kind of disaster he had just avoided while doing absolutely nothing.

All the lazy people would have envied him at this point. Getting rid of problems while munching on delicious food... how convenient.

He was actually having a good time. No one came to disturb him. Even when they came they only politely said hello and left him and Allen alone.

It was such an idle situation that Xion ended up eating one more pastry.
