[BL] Accidentally Becoming the Healer of the Deranged Archduke -
Chapter 127: The Order of The Prince
Chapter 127: The Order of The Prince
The day had been so enjoyable that when Xion returned to their temporary residence, he barely had time to process the sudden invitation to a night party.
At the royal palace, no less.
How did this even happen?
To understand, time needs to rewind a little.
-----------
Allen had bought a brooch, some writing quills, and ink. All this while, Xion had done nothing but enjoy the view and indulge in playing dress-up with Noxian at every clothing store they passed.
Judging by Noxian’s glowing face, the day had clearly been enjoyable for all of them.
"Thank you, Brother! You’re the best!"
Noxian’s grin was so infectious that Xion couldn’t help but ruffle his hair.
"Go on, try them on. If there’s anything you don’t like, we’ll get a new one."
"Okay!"
"As if he’d ever dislike them," Allen muttered under his breath, eyeing Noxian as he bounced around excitedly in his new shoes.
With both hands overloaded with bags, the giggling boy made an eager dash toward his quarters.
Watching this, Xion chuckled. He was about to follow when Allen spoke up.
"You’re spoiling him, Teacher," Allen said flatly. "He’s not even learning properly now."
Xion arched a brow. "Are you actually competing with him?"
Allen stiffened. "...Of course not."
But Xion could tell. He had that faint air of sulkiness around him. Although it was subtle, it was there.
The corner of Xion’s lips twitched. Allen was definitely fighting for favor. Again...
But what could he do? He really wanted to spoil Noxian.
"Kids are supposed to be spoiled."
Allen hummed lightly in response. His gaze was fixed on Noxian while a whimsical idea popped into his mind.
If he had met Xion the way Noxian did, what kind of life would he live?
But it was impossible to even imagine. Xion must have started talking when he was kicked out of his family.
His thoughts were interrupted when a sudden crash echoed.
Some of the bags had fallen, while the purple-haired boy struggled to gather them all in his tiny arms.
The boy obviously couldn’t carry everything alone, so Allen silently stepped forward and took the heavier ones without complaint. While Noxian carried his toys and ran away.
Just the way they had been doing throughout the journey.
"And you say I spoil him too much."
Allen stiffened slightly. "...I simply don’t want him dropping them."
Xion simply laughed at his red ears. "Sure."
Before Allen could reply to save his dignity as an elder, Noxian yelled from a distance.
"Sir Allen! Hurry up, I want to try everything!"
Allen, "... Fine."
He bowed to Xion just the way he always did and then followed behind the over-excited puppy.
Amused by the Alchemist’s words, he recalled Allen’s actions of protecting Noxian from bumping into anything during the day.
They were really like a mischievous little brother and his exasperated, overprotective older sibling.
Laughing to himself at such a picture, he turned the corner. His destination was of course his room. But he did not get the chance to reach it.
Nikolai directly blocked Xion in the hallway. After what happened the previous day, he felt it was a very big insult to his royal status, and he also hated the way Xion looked at him with such blatant vigilance.
"I only wanted to paint her!"
Xion blinked. "...What?"
Nikolai’s eyes glowered with frustration.
"I only wanted to paint her," he repeated, slower this time as if expecting Xion to understand.
Xion stared at him.
"...Who?"
Now forgive Xion, but he had the habit of tossing meaningless things at the back of his mind. After spending happy time with Noxian and Allen, where could he think of Nikolai?
Anyway, he had directly crossed the prince from his good people’s list. As for the reason... does it matter?
Nikolai had the urge to shake Xion to his senses. How could someone forget his conversation with him?
Now, it was not that he was so full of himself (He was). He, being the prince, had lived at the top. It was always others reminding him about the conversations they had, when was it his turn to remind others?
He glanced at Xion, who really looked confused, and had to forcefully suppress his anger.
He did not want to spoil his careful planning by being angry.
Taking a calming breath, he said, "The woman Darius told you about. I just wanted to paint her, but I did not tell her my identity before approaching. So, she misunderstood."
Xion suddenly recalled how Nikolai had held his hands tightly when they first met. He had also misunderstood him as a creep.
Feeling guilty, Xion’s heart softened.
"Okay. I got it."
As long as Nikolai was not a pervert, it should not be a problem to talk to him a bit. Right?
That was what he thought until the prince said something that made him wonder if he was hallucinating.
"There is a small gathering at the palace. I want to take you with me. Think of it as compensation for misunderstanding me."
Xion, "..." No, I would rather go back to misunderstanding you.
Perhaps the silence in his eyes was too loud, that Nikolai coughed to ease the atmosphere.
"Darius is not here, and you will be bored."
A slight frown appeared on his forehead. He had noticed it before. The way Nikolai would call His Grace by his name.
No matter what, the title was meant to be followed. Even if the person speaking was the prince, he was still required to use the title of the noble.
Of course, that could be changed if they had very close ties, or if they were in private and chatting like friends.
However, from what he had observed so far, the archduke did not like the royals, and Nikolai... well, the prince was always smiling but it was more or less fake.
It was better to follow the person, who had been tolerating his stupidity than go with the foxy prince.
"I am sorry, your highness. I don’t have clothes for the occasion."
Xion thought that excuse was enough. Yet when he was about to step away, his arm was grabbed.
"You are avoiding me."
It wasn’t a question. It was a statement. And this time, the prince did not have a familiar smile on his face.
Xion sighed lightly. "We don’t know each other, Your Highness. And I prefer to stay alone."
That seemed to throw Nikolai off. His jaw clenched, and the grip on Xion’s wrist tightened.
"I am the prince, and I order you to follow me. Clothes will be delivered to your room."
Xion acknowledged something blatantly. He was talking to the Prince!
It was always like this. His brain which was wired to work according to modern senses would only realize later exactly what kind of situation he had pushed himself into.
Just like now...
There was no law to protect him. And there was also no Darius to shield him from Nikolai.
With a heavy heart, he could only nod, "Alright."
He unexpectedly missed Darius.
