Chapter 109: Rael Is the Archduke?
Author’s note- Don’t read this Chapter while eating, or drinking...Yeah, that’s it.
Klein yanked his hood down. His cold fingers traced Xion’s cheek before gripping his jaw, forcing Xion to look at him.
"Here, I am the God. Do you hear that?"
Of course, Xion could hear it. The voices had never been quiet to begin with.
He clenched his jaw, refusing to react, even as Klein rubbed his nose along his nape, inhaling deeply like some crazed beast savoring its prey.
"I told her I’d support her," Klein murmured, voice laced with amusement. "And she went crazy with joy."
His grip on Xion’s jaw tightened as his lips curved into a smirk.
"She even rushed here to organize a special treat for me."
Then Xion understood. Siena got a message from Klein. How could someone like her miss such a big supporter? No wonder she rushed here even under such heavy rain.
A loud clap of thunder crashed, lightning flashing across the sky. Xion noticed how Klein’s fangs seemed to be longer now.
"What do you want?" Xion relented. He did not have any other option at the moment.
His body refused to move. Without moving his hands, even if he bought a weapon from the system, it would be useless if he could not even hold them.
So, he could only try to lure Klein to release him first.
Sure enough, his submissive reaction pleased Klein, and he grinned widely. His hands lessened the force. However, his fingers still remained on his jaw, slowly tracing the red marks on the white skin.
Klein chuckled, his fingers trailing down Xion’s throat as if savoring the sensation beneath his touch.
"What do I want?" His red eyes gleamed ominously under the flickering light. "Oh, come on, Lord Xion. You should already know. I did not keep my desire for you subtle, now, have I?"
Xion swallowed, feeling the press of those unnaturally sharp nails against his skin.
Klein had been waiting. And now, the bloodthirsty beast was starving.
"You do not have to be so afraid, you know," Klein purred. His lips gently brushed against Xion’s ear. "I’ll be very gentle."
Another roll of thunder shook the mansion.
"Say, will the archduke get angry if he saw his little plaything being used by me?"
The more he spoke, the more his smile widened. Xion realized that Klein must have an inferiority complex toward Rael’s father.
"Can you put me down first?" Xion lowered his eyes. His face was pale, and with the way his eyelashes trembled so softly, Klein was already mesmerized by him.
"If you dare play tricks on me, I’ll kill that kid."
That made Xion’s eyes widen. Which kid? Rael? Noxian?
Looking at his reaction, Klein sure was in a happy mood. He patted Xion’s cheek, "Be good, and let me have a taste."
Without wasting another second, Klein bit Xion’s neck.
Xion groaned, but the mana flickering at the tip of his fingers thrummed more violently.
Klein showed no mercy when he bit him. With a wet sucking sound and a slithery tongue licking his skin, Xion had the urge to vomit.
Hence, he did exactly that. Anyway, why should he stop it?
Klein was almost reaching heaven. The taste of the blood was even more intoxicating than he remembered. But then again, it was only a tiny drop that made him crazy for this person.
Just when he was looking for a place to take another bite, he felt a disgusting stench on his face!
Klein froze.
The euphoria of tasting Xion’s blood shattered as warm bile splattered across his face, sliding down his cheek and dripping onto his collar.
Xion, panting from both pain and disgust, wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. His lips curled into a sneer. "You deserve it."
"You bastard!" Klein lashed out.
All his suppressed hatred for Darius and being scolded by his father gushed out.
He clenched the dagger from his waist and slashed at Xion, who was about to rush out of the door.
The first attack slashed across his back. Groaning, Xion turned back. With his fist wrapped in condensed mana, he struck at Klein.
Dagger and mana met, and soon, a huge bang shook the entire mansion.
The table and chair lay broken on the ground near Klein’s feet.
Xion stumbled back. He slowly looked down at his torso. His lapel, along with his robe, was cut in half. His blue shirt was barely hanging there with the support of the last two buttons.
Blood trickled from the fresh cut on his chest, soaking into the fabric of crimson. He clenched his jaw, swallowing the sharp pain as he locked eyes with Klein through the haze of dust and swirling mana.
Klein, standing amidst the wreckage, let out a low, breathy chuckle. His red eyes gleamed with eerie delight as he wiped the bile from his face with Xion’s shirt he casually picked from the bed.
Even when hit by the mana, there was barely a scratch on Klein. His shirt was burnt in some places, and so were his red bangs.
Other than that, Klein was in much better condition.
"You," Klein took a step forward, twirling the dagger between his fingers. "Oh, you never fail to surprise me."
Xion exhaled sharply. He had to escape.
If he stayed any longer, he’d be at a greater disadvantage. His body was already weakened from blood loss, and Klein was far from done playing with him.
Outside, the echoes of shouts and hurried footsteps filled the hallways. Some felt close, while others felt far away.
The guests downstairs had felt the impact.
Klein tilted his head, clearly hearing them too. His grin widened, "They are running away. No one is coming to save you this time, little butterfly."
Blood trickled down his body, a few drops splattering onto the golden ring Xion wore around his neck. A faint buzz came from the ring, but Xion didn’t notice.
Amidst his dizzy mind, Xion felt a burst of mana surging in his veins.
Without another second, he kicked Klein’s stomach.
Xion fell back. His body crashed against the wall, and it collapsed under the heavy impact.
Xion could only gasp in pain. He had not expected it to work so well.
The window was broken, and so was the wall holding it. Klein was nowhere in sight.
The young lord had fallen from the second floor.
Xion thought he was going to get some time to gather his dizzy brain, but only after a moment, Klein was back in front of him.
With a bloody head and an arm twisted at a weird angle, the smiling Klein was something straight out of a horror movie.
And Xion feared things like this. His body trembled. He subconsciously tried to open the system mall.
[The system is under maintenance.]
The sudden message made Xion’s ears ring. His eyes suddenly filled with tears as he saw Klein making his way toward him.
No matter how many times he poked the system, the answer was still the same.
He did not want to die like this! At least not at the hands of a disgusting pervert!
A sharp pain coupled with his dizzy mind, Xion could not hold back. Tears rolled down his pale cheek, mimicking the rain outside.
"I can heal, you can’t," Klein smirked as he slowly twisted his arm back in place.
Xion wanted to run away, to crawl back, but when he tried to move his body, the ache in his feet intensified.
Only then did Xion notice that his leg was buried under the debris of the broken wall.
Just when he thought that he was going to experience something far more terrible than just his blood being sucked away, he heard the familiar voice.
"Stay away."
Xion snapped his head toward the sound so fast that pain shot down his neck. But he barely noticed. His gaze was locked on the small figure standing in the dimly lit corridor.
Rael!
From his long silver hair to his clothes, everything was dripping wet.
Xion wanted to yell, to tell Rael to hide. However, what he witnessed next forced his voice to choke in his throat.
He watched with wide eyes as a strange light enveloped Rael from head to toe.
His small frame stretched, shifting, twisting... until the child was no more.
When he took his next step forward, it was no longer Rael standing there.
It was the Archduke.
Xion’s heart pounded against his ribs, a deep, sinking weight settling in his chest.
He could hardly believe what he had just witnessed. One moment, a drenched and fragile Rael stood in the dim corridor, and the next, he was gone.
Ah, he was not gone. Was he not here?
After all, Rael is the archduke.
Fool... That was all Xion thought of as he silently watched the archduke walk forward.
Was it his trust? His love for Rael?
Xion didn’t know. But one thing was certain, something inside him had just broken.
