Chapter 123: Chapter 118: Do You Know What I Like About You?
You Jia shook his head, "After we’re engaged, you’ll be my fiancée. In the past, Uncle Che didn’t give me a chance, but now I have the right to protect you. No matter what happens in the future, I’ll protect you like Uncle Che and Airui do. I want to make you a carefree, happy woman. The military parade here will still take a few days, so I’ll arrange for Shi Qing first, and then we’ll go to Laman. I want to face Grandpa with you."
Tong Ai Ni cast him a playful glare, "Dummy, do you know what I like about you?"
You Jia chuckled, "I’d like to know."
"I like your wisdom, your knowledge, and your warm, caring soul. I already have a domineering grandpa, a domineering dad, and two domineering brothers. I don’t need another domineering boyfriend. Just be yourself. I can take care of myself."
You Jia frowned slightly, "Ai Ni, are you doubting my abilities?"
Tong Ai Ni was momentarily stunned but then burst into laughter, "I called you a dummy, and you really are one! Your ability to protect me won’t be any worse than my dad’s or my brothers’. But who are you? You’re the future King of S Country. The responsibilities on your shoulders don’t allow you to focus too much on me."
You Jia pulled Tong Ai Ni into an emotional embrace, "Ai Ni, thank you for understanding me like this."
"Moved by me?" Tong Ai Ni laughed and gave him a light push. "This is all thanks to the analysis my mom offered when we got back from the restaurant. I told her I was ready for whatever challenges lie ahead and that I wouldn’t cry to her no matter how hard things became. I also promised her that no matter how far I marry, I’ll always return to see her often. Guess what my mom said?"
You Jia chuckled, "Auntie said: ’I’ve got a perfectly satisfactory daughter-in-law now; I’m not desperate for you to come back and visit!’"
Tong Ai Ni tilted her head to look at him and laughed with a "pfft," "How do you know so well? Were you secretly eavesdropping on my conversation with my mom?"
You Jia shook his head, "No, I can tell. Uncle Che and Auntie both like Luowa a lot. Actually, the person we should thank most is Luowa. If it weren’t for her, our situation might still be dragging on for years."
Tong Ai Ni nodded, just about to speak when Shi Qing’s crying came from outside the door.
You Jia frowned slightly, glanced at the computer, saw the documents had been sent to his phone, then softly kissed Tong Ai Ni’s forehead, "I have to go now. Otherwise, Uncle Che will lose his temper again. Be careful at home and don’t say anything Uncle Che doesn’t like to hear. If you get scolded, I’ll feel bad!"
"Mm, don’t worry about me. Hurry and go!"
You Jia quickly left the study, pulled up Shi Qing, who was crying loudly on the sofa. Shi Qing looked at him and struggled fiercely, "I’m not going back! My mom just called and said she’d break my leg when I get home!"
"..." You Jia looked at her speechlessly, greeted everyone briefly, and dragged her out of the room.
In the living room, the servants had already cleaned up the mess. Tong Yao looked at the slightly nervous Yi Luowa and smiled, "Luowa, don’t be afraid; dramas like this don’t happen often."
"Auntie, I’m not afraid." Yi Luowa smiled and shook her head. She wanted to say she found it quite thrilling! But seeing everyone’s solemn faces, she swallowed her words.
Long Che hung up Ni Lu’s fifth call and finally couldn’t bear it anymore, pressing the power button to turn off his phone. "Raising a child this way and still having the nerve to call me!"
Tong Yao secretly pinched him.
Long Che shot her a sideways glance, then looked up at Lance and Raindrop. "Lance and Raindrop, you two are already parents now. Your children must be brought up properly! Especially Raindrop—don’t let your crazy mother-in-law look after the kids too much!"
Raindrop stole a glance at Monica and, seeing he didn’t react much, quickly nodded in agreement.
Long Che frowned and turned to Tong Airui and his siblings, "And you three. When you have children in the future, don’t spoil them too much. If I catch one of them going astray, don’t blame me for stepping in to straighten things out!"
"When I have kids, I’ll leave them for Mom to raise." Tong Aino joked, throwing a wink at his mother.
"Don’t even think about it!" Long Che glared at him. "Your mom did enough raising you lot. Don’t expect her to raise your kids!"
Tong Aino pouted and looked at Tong Airui, "Bro, Dad says Mom won’t raise our kids. What will you do in the future?"
"I’ll raise them." Tong Airui smiled. "Mom went through so much suffering during our births, and after we were born, she had to work and take care of us. As her children, we shouldn’t burden her further."
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together and smiled—she hadn’t expected him to be so filial.
Long Che snorted coldly, "At least you have some conscience! It’s getting late. You and Luowa should head back to the hospital. Don’t keep Luowa’s uncle waiting."
"It’s almost dark, and you’re still making the kids leave?" Tong Yao shot him an annoyed look, then turned to Yi Luowa. "How about you two stay here? I’ll call your uncle for you."
Yi Luowa looked at Tong Yao with some hesitation. To be honest, she wasn’t quite used to staying here.
