Chapter 122: Chapter 117: When to get married depends on my mood

"Nonsense!" Carlos’s voice came through the phone, accompanied by the sound of a pounding table. "Send someone to bring her back here! I can’t have her embarrassing me out there!"

"I’m not going back! I came here to work!" Shi Qing seized the moment while Long Che wasn’t paying attention and broke free from his grip.

Long Che gave her a sidelong glance, then turned to Mi Xiaotian and said, "Tell Baili Bi to withdraw her shares immediately! Tong Aino, remember what I said today—any business involving this princess, you’re to terminate the contracts with Ni Lu immediately!"

"Long Che, don’t escalate things." Tong Yao stepped forward to grab his hand when she saw he was serious.

Long Che raised an eyebrow slightly. "Failure in parenting lies with the father. This princess’s spoiled ways were nurtured by Jack and Ni Lu. I need to teach them a lesson! I *must* teach them a lesson!"

Tong Yao shook her head helplessly. "Is it really necessary? When a child acts up, all of us can help guide them toward better behavior. You’ve always treated Ni Lu like your own sister. Doing this could harm your relationship with them."

Long Che barked sharply, "Xiaotian, call Baili Bi immediately. By tomorrow morning, I want all her shares withdrawn!"

Tong Yao glared at him. "Fine! I won’t say another word. If I do, you’ll probably shorten the deadline to an hour!"

Mi Xiaotian nodded and went into the study.

"You Jia, you apologize to your Uncle Che for me," Carlos’s voice came through the phone again. "And also to Rui’er’s wife. Once I’m done with this busy period, I’ll personally come with Jack and Ni Lu to Summer Wu and apologize."

"Don’t let me see you again!" Long Che snorted coldly. "Your niece said my daughter will never be the Carpenter family’s princess as long as she opposes it. But today, I’m doubling down—my daughter *will* marry into the Carpenter family! If you dare say no, I’ll have my son lead troops to raze your family’s base!"

On the other end of the phone, Carlos’s laughter rang out. "I’ve been waiting to hear this from you! Tell me, when do you plan to hold the wedding for Ni’er and You Jia?"

Everyone looked over, unable to guess what was going through Long Che’s mind at that moment.

Ai Ni blinked her eyes. Was Dad out of his mind from anger?

Tong Yao’s lips curved slightly. She understood the reason behind Long Che’s sudden declaration. Long Che wasn’t acting on impulse; he had clearly seen that You Jia and Ai Ni were destined to be together, and it was better to take this opportunity to smooth things over than have his daughter resent him.

"Dream on! My daughter won’t be marrying so soon!" Long Che shot a sidelong glance at You Jia, whose face had just started to brighten. "After Ni’er convinces her grandfather, we’ll get them engaged first. As for the wedding date, that’ll depend on my mood."

Carlos snorted. "Talking without committing—no, wait, this is actually quite the improvement. At least now the whole world knows Ni’er is my daughter-in-law! By the way, Rui’er has a girlfriend. I haven’t congratulated you and Yaoyao yet."

"Save your congratulations!" Long Che reached out to hang up the phone, then looked coldly at You Jia. "Go to the study yourself and make two copies of the surveillance footage, one for your dad, one for your aunt. After that, take your nation’s esteemed princess and go wherever you please! My house doesn’t have room for the likes of you two big deities!"

"Understood." You Jia responded and quickly headed to the study.

Mi Xiaotian, seeing him enter, offered a kind smile. "Shi Qing’s little tantrum has turned into a blessing in disguise for you and Ni’er—it’s not a bad outcome."

You Jia sighed helplessly. "Honestly, I’d rather get married. Until Ai Ni and I are married, I’m constantly anxious, afraid Uncle Che might change his mind and take Ai Ni away."

"Don’t worry," Mi Xiaotian assured him. "Your Uncle Che’s word is as firm as iron. He won’t go back on it. Besides, you have Aunt Yaoyao on your side. As long as she’s around, there’s nothing to fear." Mi Xiaotian pushed the computer over to You Jia. "Get it done quickly, then take Shi Qing and leave. Otherwise, who knows how your Uncle Che might stir things up again."

You Jia offered a sheepish smile. "Alright. Sorry for the trouble today, everyone. Truly."

Mi Xiaotian smiled and patted his shoulder, then walked out of the room.

As soon as Mi Xiaotian left, Ai Ni walked in. You Jia apologized as he took her hand. "I’m sorry. I’ve caused you to suffer."

Ai Ni pressed her lips into a smile. "I *have* suffered. But that slap you gave made it up for me! Plus, it brought about an unexpected outcome. Actually, right now, I kind of feel like laughing."

You Jia chuckled and tapped her nose. "Then laugh! I love seeing you smile."

"But I can’t laugh anymore," Ai Ni said, pouting. "Everyone in your family spoils Shi Qing so much. You hit her—what if your Aunt Ni Lu tries to go after you when you get back home?"

You Jia shook his head with a grin. "My aunt doesn’t have time to argue with me; she’ll be busy trying to placate Uncle Che. Besides, Shi Qing has done so many wrongs behind our backs. My uncle and aunt won’t be shielding her anymore."

Ai Ni puffed her cheeks. "If Aunt Ni Lu dares to pick a fight with you, just tell me, and I’ll handle her."
