Chapter 113: Chapter 108 - So You Knew She Was a Princess! (Part 1)
Tong Airui looked at his father in confusion.
"I had someone check her transcripts. Don’t tell me all she has is a pretty face and nothing but mush in her brain. A mother’s intelligence directly impacts the next generation."
Tong Airui chuckled, "You’re really quick, aren’t you? Let me put it this way: she’s very smart, just a little carefree. She’s serious about things she likes, but she won’t even glance at the ones she doesn’t."
Long Che nodded thoughtfully, "Go rest. I’ll keep this from your mom for you."
Tong Airui smiled, "Thanks, Dad. I can manage still. You’ve been on a flight for so long; you should go rest instead."
Long Che glared at his son in annoyance, "I’m not some old man! Go get Ai Ni and You Jia in here."
"Alright." Tong Airui walked to the door, glanced back at his father, then pushed the door open and stepped out. "Ai Ni, Dad asks you and You Jia to go in for a bit."
You Jia heard Long Che wanted to see her and nervously looked at Tong Ai Ni.
Tong Ai Ni pursed her lips and stood up. "Mom, if I’m not out in half an hour, remember to come rescue me."
"Go on! Have a good talk with your dad; he’s not an unreasonable person."
Yan Zi watched the two kids enter the study and grumbled, "What’s my brother doing? Just came over and already holding court one by one."
"At home over there, with Third Uncle and Mom around, there are some things he can’t say. He’s been holding it in too long; it’ll make him sick. Let him go ahead. Next up, Tong Aino, get ready."
Tong Aino grinned and hugged his mother’s shoulders, "Mom, I really sympathize with you. How have you survived all these years?"
Tong Yao laughed and gave him a slap, "If you know Mom’s had it tough, you better treat your future wife well. Don’t follow your dad’s example, acting crazy for no reason."
Tong Airui noticed his mom kept glancing at him as she spoke and asked with a smile, "Is this aimed at me?"
"Whoever hears it knows who it’s for. Anyway, in this family, you take after your dad the most!" Tong Aino cheerfully patted his mom’s shoulder, "Mom, don’t you think I’m right?"
Tong Yao glared at him, "None of you three are any good! Luckily, I have your big brother and big sister too. If it were just you three, my life wouldn’t have a shred of light!"
"Why am I being dragged into this too?" Tong Aino complained, looking at his mom.
Tong Airui and Lance exchanged a glance and chuckled before heading off to the nursery.
Shiqing peeked at him briefly, then turned to Tong Yao with a smile.
Tong Yao smiled affectionately and secretly pinched Tong Aino’s thigh.
Tong Aino winced in pain, baring his teeth. He was undoubtedly the least favored in this household! Thinking about how soon he’d be out of his parents’ sight, it seemed like a pretty good deal.
In the nursery, Yi Luowa had just finished a call with her second uncle. Seeing Duoduo holding a bottle and drinking milk, she walked over with a smile.
"Rain Sis, why don’t you go and get busy? I’ll watch Duoduo."
"There’s nothing to get busy with. I’ll stay and keep you company." Little Raindrop smiled as she pulled her to sit by the bed, "Once Duoduo falls asleep, you can catch a nap here too. You haven’t had a proper rest these past few days."
Yi Luowa smiled gratefully, "I’m fine. Rain Sis, is Shiqing a princess of Country S?"
"Pfft~" Little Raindrop laughed and lightly smacked her hand, "So you already know she’s a princess!"
"She made such a point of mentioning her royal surname. How could I not?" Yi Luowa pursed her lips with a smile. "Does she like Tong Airui?"
"You little rascal, you’re becoming quite sharp!" Little Raindrop burst into laughter.
Tong Airui had just reached the doorway and overheard this. He quickly pushed the door open and came in, "Duoduo hasn’t slept yet?"
"She’s starting to nod off." Little Raindrop smiled as she picked Duoduo up, "Why don’t you take Luowa upstairs for a rest?"
"Alright." Tong Airui glanced at Yi Luowa, "Let me take you upstairs to see where I used to live as a kid."
"Sure!" Yi Luowa beamed and stood up.
Tong Airui took her hand, just about to leave when Duoduo looked over, "No... No..."
"Auntie’s not leaving. She’ll go get something tasty for Duoduo and be back soon." Little Raindrop cradled Duoduo, gently swaying her.
Tong Airui saw Duoduo quiet down and quickly led Yi Luowa out the door.
The two were heading up the stairs when Shiqing coldly stared at them. Seeing Yi Luowa struggling a bit on the steps, she pursed her lips and smiled slightly, "Auntie, Miss Yi’s leg..."
Tong Yao turned to look at Yi Luowa, smiling as she said, "Rui’er, Luowa’s injury hasn’t healed yet. Go slower when you take her upstairs."
"Got it." Tong Airui wrapped an arm around Yi Luowa’s waist, and the two began climbing the stairs at a slower pace.
Shiqing chuckled, "Looking at them, Miss Yi really is quite a bit shorter than Airui."
"This little rascal is taller than you!" Mi Chenxuan huffed unhappily, "I’m going to play poker; who’s in?"
"Me!" Mi Chenshuo stood up first.
"I’ll play too." Tong Aino glanced at the study door and quickly pecked Tong Yao on the cheek, "Mom, I’ll come hang out with you later."
"We’re short on players, aren’t we? I’ll pitch in." Lance stood up with a goofy smile.
Monica laughed, "Seems I’m the spare person? Then I’ll go look after Duoduo."
