Betrothed To An Alpha? I Don't Think So! -
Chapter 54: Feeling What?
Chapter 54: Feeling What?
Zayne slammed his lips to hers, devouring the puffs of those sounds and owning it like it belonged to him.
Fuck it.
He was done for.
He was a complete mess for her.
She tasted like everything he’d ever imagined. Such sweet surrender with the mix of the whiskey she’d consumed.
A single taste, and his first thought was ’Mine’
He sucked on her bottom lip, biting down gently.
Evelyn shook against him, shoulders bouncing up and down. Her fingers fisted into his hair, breaking off the elastic band and letting it loose. She yanked him as close as possible, deepening the kiss herself.
Well, she was wild about this.
Evelyn felt like her chest could burst apart. Was this truly it? Has everyone who’d ever kissed felt like this? Because this felt so good. No, she didn’t even think kissing could be this... exhilarating. Or was it just him? Because she was sure that bad kisses existed.
This man, though, was anything but a bad kisser. No, he was way too good at this. And why? How many women had he kissed to be this good at it?
Her fingers flexed in his hair, grip bruising. And she was sure he felt the pain in his scalp.
Still, that didn’t deter the way he stroked her lips with his.
Demanding.
He bit down on her lower lip again, earning a gasp from her. It came with a little pain, but for some odd reason, she liked it.
It made her body zap with so much of those sparks, that even when his tongue probed against her lips, she didn’t resist, opening up for him.
Zayne seemed to have gone feral. Oh, the feeling was mutual between them, because as he swirled his tongue around hers, she could taste the whiskey she’d fed him.
A soft strained moan echoed in the air, and the sort of horror that dawned on her at the realization that it came from her, caused her to quickly break the kiss, slapping a palm over her mouth.
Zayne stared with hooded eyes, locking their gazes.
"I...t-that was—It wasn’t. Um, I need to sleep!"
For one reason or the other, she’d seem to sober up, springing off his lap. She hurried out of his office, slamming the door shut.
Zayne didn’t follow her. He sat right where he was, staring into nothing. He craned his neck back, thumb rubbing against his wet lips.
He didn’t say a word, but held a blank entranced look, eyes narrowing into a slit before they came completely shut.
A soft breath fled his nose and he crossed his legs.
"All mine..." he hummed to himself. "Nothing but all mine."
...
It was not a dream.
No matter how much she’d slept and shoved it to the back of her mind, it was not a dream at all.
None of that had been a dream. Not even a little. Not even close.
The feel of it was still ingrained in her head. She could even still feel his lips and it made her nothing but more conscious.
Tipsy or not, why had she asked him to kiss her? Where did the thought even come from?
Evelyn paced the length of the guest room, nursing a hammering headache.
Wait...had she...
Had she always had this thought at the back of her mind? Well then, it’d be his fault. He was the one who mentioned it once. She was curious and just so happened to be tipsy too.
Nothing to be embarrassed about.
Besides, it’s just a kiss. It wasn’t that big of a deal.
She nodded at herself, scoffing. "It wasn’t even all that great of a kiss..." She went silent and abruptly buried her face in her palms, groaning softly. "What am I even saying? It was better than whatever the hell I’d hoped for."
Of course, kissing was nice. But...who knew it felt that good? Or was it just him?
Evelyn squatted down, biting the tip of her finger.
He was really good at it. Didn’t that mean he’d kissed a lot of women? That wouldn’t be a surprise at all. This man was Zayne Mancini. Rich, hot, handsome, really hot. She wouldn’t deny that at all.
What woman would look at him and not want him? Not that she wanted him though.
She cleared her throat and straightened up. A deep breath fled from her nose as she ran her finger through her hair, swallowing.
It was still ten a.m. She’d done well to avoid him all morning, but how much longer could she do it? She wanted coffee...
"Wait, why am I avoiding him?" Evelyn muttered to herself. "It’s just a kiss. It’s really not that big of a deal. Why am I behaving like a high school girl?"
She hissed at herself, slapping a palm over her forehead. "Get it together!"
Evelyn left the room, carefully tiptoeing her way to the kitchen. She stopped at the door, poked her head inside, and peeked around for any sign of Zayne.
"But wait, why am I acting like this?" she muttered quietly to herself. "So what if he sees me? Why do I get to be the only one feeling this way?"
"Feeling what?"
She froze.
Oh crap. He was behind her, wasn’t he?
She slowly turned her head. And sure enough, he just stood, upper body bare and hands in the pockets of his sweatpants. Of course, he was watching her with that stupid grin on his face.
"Why do I get the impression you’ve been avoiding me?" Zayne stepped towards her, his frame getting taller and taller, the closer he got. "Is it because of last night?"
"Last what? What are you talking about? I-I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Evelyn—"
"I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was out of it and I don’t recall a single thing. I’m going to grab coffee." She walked into the kitchen hurriedly toward the counter, heart racing.
She picked up one of the mugs, the one she knew he used, but couldn’t care less, proceeding to make herself a cup.
"What did I tell you last night, Evelyn?"
She could hear the sound of his footsteps. "I told you I don’t know what you’re talk—"
The man spooned her from behind, trapping her between his frame and the sink. He looked at her. But she refused to make eye contact with him.
"I told you last night, you don’t get to pretend you don’t remember anything this morning. And you know why?" He grabbed gently on her chin, twisting her head to the side.
Evelyn locked her gaze onto his, swallowing. For some reason, she felt weak and speechless. She couldn’t even push him away or even make some snarky remarks like she always did.
She was completely at a loss for words.
"You’re going to tell me how it was. I know I pulled it off better than you ever imagined, but I need to hear it from your mouth. So go ahead, tell me."
