Chapter 60: Why Are You Naked?
Chapter 60: Why Are You Naked?
Standing directly in her path was Dimitri, flanked by Liam and a group of werewolf guards who had escorted him.
A dark smirk danced on Dimitri’s lips, and in his hand, gleaming with deadly intent, was another Soul-Splitting Arrow.
"Well," Dimitri said smoothly, his voice low and calm, but threaded with quiet menace, "this is certainly... unexpected."
"Greetings, Your Highness!" the werewolf guards chorused in unison, immediately their gazes fell on him, dropping to their knees with their heads bowed in respect.
Just what is he doing here? Sorayah thought, her throat tightening as she swallowed hard. Is he here to witness how I was going to be purnished too? This bastard!
"You better stay back or I’ll really kill your wife and I mean it." Sorayah utterd, the arrow still pointed at Mira’s throat.
"She’s crazy your highness." Mira cried, her body tensed up in fear and frustration.
A wide smirk spread across Dimitri’s face but he remained rooted in a spot.
Seeing that Dimitri complied, Sorayah’s heart was filled with joy but before she could act, before she could urge her horse to gallop away, Dimitri strode forward in a swift like the wind with purpose and seized the reins of her mount. In one swift, chilling motion, he unsheathed the sword at his waist and struck down the horse without hesitation.
"Neigh...!"
The blade sliced clean through the creature, and the animal collapsed beneath them with a strangled cry.
Sorayah and Mira were thrown violently to the ground, landing hard on their backsides.
"Ouch!"
A sharp jolt of pain shot through the two women, clutching the earth beneath them.
Liam moved quickly toward the fallen animal, accompanied by six werewolf guards who had emerged from the mines. Without hesitation, they began to haul the horse’s body away. Their movements were efficient, almost mechanical, and they made certain to clean away any trace of blood before Liam stepped aside to untie his own and Dimitri’s horses, which had been tethered in the wild.
Mira, still on the ground and gasping from the fall, stared at Dimitri with wide eyes. For a terrifying moment, she had believed he meant to strike down Sorayah instead.
But she had been wrong but then she believed Dimitri perhaps has another plan.
Dimitri now approached the two women. Mira struggled to rise, her limbs shaking, but Dimitri bent down and grasped her hand as he helped her to her feet, guiding her briefly against his shoulder.
"Your highness! This low life wanted to kill me. She now sees herself as a important person. We should have just ended her life at the training ground." Mira uttered, with pain and anger etched in her tone.
Dimitri remained mute and the tenderness lasted only a moment. He gently pushed Mira’s head away sending waves of shock down her spine and then turned toward Sorayah, who remained seated on the cold ground. Her face still twisted in pain and fury, golden hair cascading down her shoulders and partially covering her chest.
Without a word, Dimitri threw his bow and arrow which was still in his hand towards Liam who caught it immediately afterwhich he strode towards Sorayah and removed his fur-lined coat, revealing the black shirt and tailored trousers beneath. He then knelt down to her level and draped the heavy garment over her bare shoulders. The gesture sent a shockwave of disbelief through Sorayah, Mira, and the surrounding guards who had been preparing to chase her down.
What’s wrong with him? Sorayah thought to herself, her eyes still widen open in shock. He’s not going to kill me now right?
"Why are you naked?" Dimitri whispered, his tone sharp and possessive. His warm breath brushed against her ear, making her shiver. "As my personal sex slave, are you not aware that only I have the right to see your body?"
Sorayah turned her head slowly toward him, meeting his gaze with ice in her eyes. Her voice, though barely above a whisper, carried a searing undertone of defiance.
"Maybe you should ask your wife that question," she murmured, locking eyes with him. "They tore my clothes."
Dimitri’s eyes narrowed slightly, but not in anger. There was something else, an emotion flickering beneath the surface. She couldn’t tell if it was rage, desire, or something far more dangerous. His eyes were mesmerizing up close, like fragments of a storm captured in glass.
How had she never noticed that before? Well she did but never paid him any attention not until now that he just did something unbelievable.
Dimitri let out a slow, dark smirk. He straightened to his full height, his coat now wrapped around Sorayah’s bare shoulders, and extended a hand toward her.
Sorayah hesitated, a flicker of confusion crossing her face. But before she could talk herself out of it, her hand reached up to meet his. His grip was strong and warm as he pulled her effortlessly to her feet.
Mira stood silently, her fists clenched tightly at her sides. She was far from speechless, but she knew better than to speak now.
Dimitri’s gaze then turned toward the werewolf guards who still knelt obediently with their heads bowed.
His expression darkened."I’ll ask you all since you work in these mines. What the hell happened here? And where is your highest commander, Adam?" His voice carried an edge, fury barely leashed behind his words.
One of the guards, still on his knees, lifted his head and pointed toward Sorayah, his eyes flashing with contempt.
"Replying to the Beta Lord, sir! The highest commander is dead and it’s because of that lowly maid!" he snarled. "We couldn’t kill her because there was a direct order that you wanted her alive. But now that you’re here, please give us your command. Let us rid you of that worthless creature."
"Yes!" Mira chimed in quickly, pointing accusingly toward the Soul-Splitting Arrow still clutched in Sorayah’s hand, its tip dripping with fresh blood. "She killed Adam with your arrow! She smuggled it into the mines, hiding it in her dress! She even threatened to kill me. She took me hostage! Dimitri, please, just end her already!"
