Chapter 93: Fix Her

Chapter 93: Fix Her

TERESA’S P.O.V.

I stared at Lucian, Adrian, and the red-haired woman like they were the unholy trinity. My mind raced, every nerve in my body thrumming with panic and fury. The silver in Mai’s eyes was so unnatural; an otherworldly glow that made my stomach churn.

"Explain!" I snapped, my voice trembling. "Why are her eyes like this? What did you do to her?!"

Lucian cleared his throat, looking more nervous than I’d ever seen him. His usually confident demeanor was nowhere to be found. "Teresa," he began softly, his voice tinged with guilt. "We can’t talk about this here. Come with me to my office—it’s private. What I need to tell you shouldn’t be overheard."

"Private?" I shot back, my anger bubbling over. "What makes you think I trust you enough to go anywhere with you?"

Adrian, ever the smooth talker, chimed in, his words heavy. "Teresa, please," he said, his deep voice soothing and infuriating all at once. "Wolves have advanced hearing. What we need to discuss concerns your daughter’s future, and it’s not safe to talk here. I know you’re angry, confused, and hurting terribly, but we’ll explain everything. Just give us the chance to make it right."

My laugh was sharp and bitter. "Future? Her eyes are glowing like flashlights! How do you plan to make that right, Adrian? Glue some normalcy onto her face?"

The red-haired woman stepped forward, her hands raised as if I were some wild animal about to pounce. "Please, Miss Teresa, calm down—"

"Don’t you dare tell me to calm down!" I shouted, my voice cracking. "My baby has been toyed with by forces I don’t understand, and you’re standing there telling me to calm down? Shut up! Just shut up!"

The woman flinched, clearly unused to being shouted at, but I didn’t care. My rage burned hotter than her discomfort. Turning to Lucian, I bit out, "Lead the way. But know this—I’m only this calm because of my baby. If you don’t fix her, I swear you’ll regret ever knowing me."

Lucian nodded solemnly, gesturing for us to follow. As he ascended the stairs, Adrian and the woman trailed behind him, their expressions grim. I waited until they were halfway up before I followed, clutching my babies so tightly my arms ached.

Lucian led us into his office, a grand space with polished wood and an air of authority. He locked the door behind us. "Sit down," he said, motioning to the plush sofas.

"I’m fine right here," I said stiffly, standing by the door with Mai and Ollie in my arms, I couldn’t trust them to anyone else.

Before I could blink, Adrian was suddenly in front of me. One moment he was leaning casually against the desk, and the next he was lifting me bridal-style like I weighed nothing.

"What the—!" I gasped, clutching my babies tighter.

Adrian carried me to a sofa and gently placed me down. His piercing gaze met mine, his voice low and serious. "You’ll want to be seated for this."

My heart pounded. What could possibly be so horrible that they needed me sitting?

Adrian stepped back, nodding toward Lucian. "Tell her everything. Don’t leave anything out."

Lucian stood in the center of the room, looking like a man preparing for his own execution. "Teresa," he began, his voice uncharacteristically soft, "I’m sorry. For everything. For almost hurting you yesterday. For all of it."

I glared at him, my patience paper-thin. "I don’t care about your apologies. Just tell me what happened to my daughter."

He sighed, running a hand through his short hair. "It started when we were preparing for Adrian’s attack. We needed allies—"

"Allies?" I interrupted sharply, my eyes locking onto Adrian. Just yesterday, Lucian, and everyone here trembled just by the mention of his name but today they looked like BFFs. The memories of being his prisoner for two years surged back like a flood. My glare could’ve cut steel, brimming with unspoken resentment. I hadn’t forgiven him—hell, I hadn’t even started—but right now, I had bigger battles to fight.

Adrian met my gaze with an expression of regret and mouthed, "I’m sorry."

I ignored him, turning my glare back to Lucian.

"We didn’t have time," Lucian continued, "I needed allies. To protect you. To protect my pack. So, I called a meeting with wolves and witches. A witch named Serena suggested a ritual to invite a demon wolf spirit, Raivo, into my body."

I blinked, certain I’d misheard. "A demon?"

Lucian nodded, his jaw tightening.

"Witches? Demons? What’s next, unicorns?" I snapped, my voice rising. "Tell me you didn’t do it."

His silence was answer enough.

"You did," I whispered, a hollow laugh escaping me. "You invited a demon into your body. What else is in there? Goblins? Evil spirits? Elves? What were you thinking?!"

His shoulders slumped. "I don’t know. It was a mistake—"

"A mistake?" My voice rose. "This isn’t forgetting to lock the door, Lucian! This is playing with demons!"

"I had to protect you!" he shouted back, then immediately softened. "But it all went wrong. The witches had the nerve to attack you and take Mai because I was gone. It was all my fault and I am so sorry. Teresa."

" Lucian, I’m not here for your apologies just tell me what I want to know!" I snapped at him"

"When we found her," Lucian said, his voice cracking with regret, "they were performing a ritual on her."

I froze, every nerve in my body screaming. "A ritual? What kind of ritual Lucian?" I whispered.

The red-haired woman spoke up. "It was a possession ritual. The witches were..."

"Elizabeth, I can handle it," Lucian snapped at the woman and she immediately shut up.

I shot to my feet, my legs trembling. "Possession ritual? What does she mean by possession ritual Lucian? Is my baby possessed? Does she have a demon inside her like you do?" My voice trembled as I looked at him for answers.

Lucian raised his hands, trying to calm me. "Teresa, listen. The ritual was incomplete. Mai isn’t possessed, but..."

Adrian frowned. "Lucian—"

"No," Lucian interrupted, silencing him with a glare.

"But what?" I demanded, my voice sharp as glass.

"She was burned during the ritual. And..." He hesitated, his eyes filled with pain. "It affected her eyes. She’s... blind."

The air left my lungs. I stared at Mai, suddenly noticing the way her gaze didn’t quite focus.

"No," I whispered, shaking my head. "No, no, no!"

I shot to my feet, I don’t remember dropping Mai and Ollie onto the couch, but I do remember lunging at Lucian, my fists pounding against his chest as I screamed, "You let this happen! You let them hurt her! Fix her! Fix her now!"

Adrian stepped forward to pull me back, his cool act was long gone as guilt spread like oil across his face. "Teresa—"

"Don’t ’Teresa’ me!" I shrieked, turning on him next, hitting him with every ounce of strength I had "You’re just as guilty! You were the reason he needed protection in the first place! Fix her! Fix her right now!"

Lucian stepped forward, his face a mask of guilt. "We’re trying—"

"Trying?" I shrieked, pounding my fists against his chest. "My baby is blind! Her foot is burned! What are you trying to do? Watch her suffer?"

Lucian stood there, taking every hit, his eyes never leaving mine. "I’m sorry," he whispered.

"Sorry won’t fix her!" I screamed, my voice breaking. "Fix her or I swear, I’ll—"

I sank onto the couch, my body trembling as sobs tore through me. The only thought that echoed in my mind, drowning out everything else, was the devastating truth—my sweet baby girl was blind. Blinded by witches.
