Becoming the Villain's Discarded Wife -
Chapter 346
Chapter 346: 346
The young girl had a look of pure innocence on her face, her round eyes gleaming, showing no hint of impurity.
Liao Er found himself slightly bewildered by her use of the term ’husband’.
The women he kept outside were all of various styles, filled with charms. Even when they tried to please him while in bed, they all sounded seductive. He had never encountered a girl like the one in his arms before.
Could this girl possibly be deceiving him while still in that courtyard?
Liao Er looked at the girl in his arms with a suspicious gaze, his eyes filled with curiosity.
Among the women he previously took, some pretended to have lost their memories in their attempts to escape. However, after being thoroughly dealt with, they were all sold off to Liu Hua Street.
He was unsure what would become of this girl in his arms...
Despite his doubts, Liao Er playfully brushed his hand over the girl’s rear.
Shen Miaomiao was startled by his action, her body slightly shaking, much like a startled rabbit.
Just as she was about to speak, Liao Er saw the tears welling up in her eyes.
"Husband, why are you bullying me!"
There was a look of grieve on the young girl’s delicate face. Even her soft voice now carried a tone of accusation.
She looked as miserable as if she had suffered a great wrong.
Liao Er, who was about to turn thirty this year, had encountered many women. He had lost interest in them long ago. However, he was surprisingly fascinated by Shen Miaomiao’s acting. His hand moved softly over her unconsciously, although he was still suspicious. He spoke soothingly, "How did you know I’m your husband?"
The young girl sobbed once. Shyly, she buried her face in his shoulder, whispering, "I...my head hurts. I can’t remember things. But...but...you’re holding me like this, so you must be my husband....."
Liao Er paused, recalling that Shen Miaomiao’s head did get hurt in the courtyard. He started to believe her a bit.
If she was feigning, according to her fierce character, she shouldn’t have taken the initiative to get close to him.
Could it be true that she hurt her head then, and now cannot remember things?
Just by lowering his gaze slightly, he could see the young girl’s slender, fair neck. Liao Er gulped nervously.
Damn whether she was really insane or pretending. Once back home, they could make it official. Either way, she would be his woman.
If it was a sham, he could handle her.
If it was real, to have such a soft and delicate young wife was certainly better than taking someone by force. Bringing her back home might make his parents happier, saving him from explaining and hiding things.
Once he had figured it out, a smile spread across Liao Er’s face.
"Sit properly, we’ll be home soon."
His large palm patted the young girl’s back, his tone filled with reassurance.
"Husband, my head hurts." The young girl pouted, twisting her body dissatisfiedly.
Just as Liao Er was about to scold her, he saw that the wound on her forehead had somehow split open again, fresh blood was slowly seeping out.
The bright red blood flowing down her fair skin, made him feel inexplicably pained.
"Sit still, once we get home I’ll bandage it up for you." Liao Er tried to calm himself, stroking her wound with gentle care. The faint cool breeze eased the little girl’s pain slightly.
The young girl was quiet for barely ten seconds before she became restless again.
"Husband, husband, my head hurts, and...and I want some tea."
Shen Miaomiao blinked her innocent big eyes, tear-filled and on the verge of falling; she expertly pushed down the displeasure in Liao Er’s heart.
After pondering for a moment, Liao Er put the girl on the cushioned bench and began to rummage around himself.
Those in their line of work always had medication on hand for injuries.
Believing the girl couldn’t possibly cause any serious trouble, Liao Er turned his back to Shen Miaomiao without worry.
The young girl pulled a face, a look of disgust on her face, yet she continually grumbled in a nagging tone, "Hurry up, your blood is about to get on my clothes!"
Liao Er was quite tolerant, and to appease her, he hurried his actions. But unexpectedly, he suddenly felt a wave of dizziness, silently realizing something wasn’t right. He tried to call out to the coachman outside the carriage, but his whole body went limp and he slumped over.
Only after he collapsed did Shen Miaomiao dare to take a few deep breaths.
She knew she wouldn’t be able to defeat Liao Er, but thankfully, she was wearing her own clothes that day.
During their escape, the head of Qing Fenghan had given Sister Nanzhi a sedative.
This five-tael worth powder was definitely handy.
After arriving in Yan City, things slowly improved, but her family only had her parents and just one daughter.
Even if the Lin Family was willing to help, they were a bit too far away after all.
She frequently ran into ruffians and hoodlums, but then she remembered about the sedative from earlier. It was then that she spent some silver to buy some herbs and started grinding them herself at home.
She did not dare let her parents know about these, afraid they would worry. Although the number of ruffians and hoodlums in Yan City slowly decreased over time, her habit of keeping the sedative with her remained.
She didn’t carry much of it, just sewing a small cloth pouch around her waist, large enough to hold some powder.
These days, she’s been staying at the Lin Family and had been wearing Sister Nanzhi’s clothes. Luckily, she had decided to wear her own clothes that day, or a serious mishap may have occurred.
Observing Liao Er who was unconscious in the carriage did not reduce her vigilance.
She knew she would not be able to defeat the coachman, so her only alternative was to find a way to escape immediately.
The sedative was not as effective as proper anesthesia, so she needed to quickly come up with a plan.
She rubbed her goosebumped arm, the girl began sizing up the carriage she was riding in.
The carriage only had a soft seat and a small table, but it was rather spacious. Even with Liao Er lying on the ground, there was still some room left.
Standing on her toes and craning her neck to the window, she made sure that the coachman hadn’t noticed anything unusual before she cautiously stuck her head out.
She had no idea for how long she had been unconscious, but when she lifted the carriage curtain, all she could see were rows of shrubs. It was clear that they had left Yan City behind.
Following stealthily behind, the observant Twelve had kept a close watch since he noticed movement in the carriage curtain.
Only when he saw a head peeking out of the carriage window, did he panic.
Who else could possibly be looking around anxiously other than his Miaomiao?
Unfamiliar with the terrain, and uncertain about the situation in the horse carriage, Shen Wenchen and Twelve didn’t directly rush to stop the carriage. Instead, they chose to follow and act according to the situation.
Recognizing Shen Miaomiao in the carriage, the two exchanged a glance, nodded, and circled to both sides of the road on their horses.
The coachman had not heard any sounds coming from the carriage for a long time, which made him suspicious. Worried if anything had happened, he feared angering Liao Er.
He tentatively ventured, "Master Liao? Shall we go back to the village directly?"
Hearing the coachman speak, Shen Miaomiao grew even more tense.
Glancing at the size of the window, the girl was already considering if she could squeeze through the window and escape, given her size.
She didn’t believe that if the coachman saw Liao Er collapsed in the carriage, he would prioritize chasing after her.
As long as she could squeeze out of the window, maybe she could escape!
